I think the whole Baylor PR thing is going to work against them.

Unlike the BCS bullshit of the past, this group of 12 has probably watched every single game of each team in the top 6. That is their job.

I think paying a pr firm to market your value is going to backfire.

Interesting that the ACC, SEC, B1G, and Pac-12 are all having CCG's this weekend, but the only top 10 matchup this weekend is #9 K-State v. #6 Baylor. Its just week in, week out in the Big 12 I'm tellin ya

I have an ignorant question about the top 25 rankings. Why did Oregon play 13 games this season, when most all other teams appear to have played 11 or 12? For that matter, why did one or two teams apparently only play 11 games?

Oregon has played 12 games. Their 13th game is this weekend, and it is a conference championship game.

The teams that played 11 games are (mostly) Big XII schools, which is a league with only 10 teams and has no championship game. Those schools are actually playing their 12th games this weekend.

Florida, an SEC school, also only played 11 games because they're scared of Idaho.

Oregon is playing in the PAC12 championship game, which will be their 13th game of the season. Every other team playing in a championship game (Zona, Bama, Mizzou, FSU, GA Tech, etc.) is also playing a 13th game this weekend.

I can only speak as to Florida for playing 11 games, but they only played 11 b/c their game against Idaho got called because of lightning and did not get rescheduled.

How.....in the fuck is TCU number THREE?! Now I hate FSU just like every other sane American, but....WHAT?!

This committee is way more subjective than I thought. I am a little stunned.

That's the only explanation. Championship week was always going to be open for both teams, so they could have scheduled it for Saturday but Florida chose not to.

I could have sworn I looked at http://www.usatoday.com/story/sport...ng-alabama-oregon-tcu-florida-state/19797273/ like 15 minutes ago and it said Oregon was 11-2, but either I'm insane or they edited it. The website is conveniently excluded from archive.org so I can't even check.

Florida is getting their coach
http://yhoo.it/1CDBbj5

Florida athletic director Jeremy Foley and Colorado State head coach Jim McElwain are in the latter stages of negotiating a deal that would make McElwain the next Gators head football coach, sources tell Yahoo Sports.

Foley and a contingent of Florida administrators met with McElwain for several hours at his home in Fort Collins, Colo., on Tuesday night to hammer out the deal, sources said.

One notable characteristic of the negotiations is McElwain's reported $7.5 million buyout. Sources tell Yahoo that the buyout is in place and will not be significantly negotiated down.

McElwain, 52, and Foley discussed the Gators job Saturday night on the phone, sources said, and Foley flew to Colorado to try to cement the deal.

Information has been gathered on McElwain by Florida officials since the school announced two weeks ago that Will Muschamp would not return as coach, sources said. It is unclear whether any other candidates have been involved in Florida's search.

Oregon could have easily played and lost a 13th game while none of were looking because, honestly, who stays up for west coast football?

They probably lost to Hawaii or something. Bunch of frauds.

Very funny, but it turns out the Facebook comments were kept up after the change so I could screenshot some comments. :p I wasn't the only one to notice.

Alright guys, which one of you edited McElwain's wiki page?

Wikipedia said:
Jim McElwain (born March 1, 1962) is an American football coach. He is currently the head coach of The University of Florida Gators. He was hired on December 2nd, 2014 when Florida's AD Jeremy Foley came to his house and banged his wife. Foley said that he wouldn't stop unless McElwain took the job, which he did. Just kidding he's the coach for the Colorado State Rams.

EDIT: It's fixed now.

Oregon allegedly played a scrimmage against Hawaii in week zero. Mariota didn't play, in fact Oregon allegedly fielded a team of mostly walk-ons. Oregon allegedly ended up losing that scrimmage 48-46, but we all know that 11 v. 11 scrimmages in football are not allowed by the NCAA unless all players used in the scrimmage are on the same team. So, you have to count that game as part of the season, and unfortunately for Oregon, they allegedly lost. I don't make the rules, I make them up

McElwain really? I mean he did a decent job at bama but they honestly think hes the guy for the job? not too sure how i feel about that hire, although i guess there arent that many big names on the board . theyve got plenty of time to figure this one out.

Surprised Florida is going with McElwain. Guess we'll wait and see how that turns out. Seems like he could build a good offense, which is what they want right now. Doesn't have much head coaching experience to lead a major program though.

FSU fans must be getting at least a little uncomfortable now. Just imagine if we had a 2 team playoff this year. Undefeated FSU would definitely be left out.

FSU would not be left out of a 2 team playoff. I think the playoff committee knows it has leeway with the 4 teams, and since all that matters is getting in the top 4, they can put FSU anywhere they like there. If it was just 2 teams the whole ideology changes.

Here's an interesting thought. What if OSU was undefeated right now? Would both FSU and OSU be in the top 4? I say yes. If right now everything was the same, but OSU was undefeated, then the top four would be OSU, FSU, Bama, Oregon (not necessarily in that order), and the matchups would be OSU-Oregon in the Rose and FSU-Bama in the Sugar. I have to think that the Committee is thinking about the semi-final matchups and where teams would travel.

I think he'll do a good job, but why is Foley rushing through this?

Probably recruiting reasons, and the fact that Michigan and Nebraska are also on the trail.

But yeah, he really rushed through the Muschamp decision too. Look how that turned out.

Not sure how to feel about McElwain. Seems like we're going with another guy due to "Saban Affiliation". Sure, he won some National Championships, but Alabama's done fine without him too.

McElwaine at least has head coaching experience. Here's what he did at CSU:
Wikipedia said:
On December 12, 2011, Graham hired Alabama's offensive coordinator Jim McElwain to replace Fairchild. McElwain's tenure started on a high note due to CSU's 22–17 comeback win over in-state rival Colorado on September 1, 2012. McElwain became the first CSU coach since Jerry Wampfler in 1970 to win his first game and the first in school history to win his debut against CU. The Rams finished 4–8 in McElwain's first year. In 2013, the Rams went 8-6 and defeated the Washington State Cougars in the Gildan New Mexico Bowl. Season 3 saw the Rams improve to 10-2 in the regular season, losing a key final game at Air Force on a FG as time expired.
So he's at least turned around a program. Which is more than you could say about Muschamp.

"Maybe we'll be better next year." - Every Georgia fan every year

In seriousness, I do expect our defense to be better next year. I think Pruitt needs to revisit his strategy last offseason of wanting his defense to slim down and be faster. We got manhandled in all of our losses this year on the DL. Maybe he needs to focus on making everyone slimmer except for his DL. We are getting some good DB's in this offseason and a monster nose tackle in Trenton Thompson, both those things will help our defense this offseason. QB play could be improved in stats, but decision making may take a step back with either Brice Ramsey or Jacob Park winning the job next year. Ramsey would be considered the front runner but people have been very impressed with Park as the scout team QB this year saying that he reminds them of Kaepernick. Big kid able to keep plays alive and run, but has a cannon. Could be an interesting QB competition. We're losing the reliable Bennett and Conley at receiver, Mitchell may or may not go pro (I think he stays). Receiver will be something we'll have to see who steps up. RB we'll be fine. Pecking order should be Chubb, Michel, and Marshall.

What sort of year has Mitchell had?

What sort of year has Mitchell had?

He wasn't able to play until the 5th game of the season due to the ACL rehab, but when he came back he was obviously rusty. He's done pretty well but hasn't put up great numbers, in part because there were other good receivers on the team and just because we didn't pass the ball much this year. He made good catches and YAC when he got the ball, but his stats weren't great. But, he's been injury prone in the past, so seeing what happened to Gurley probably has him in the position of seeing what draft projections are for him and then making his decision based on that. He has upside for NFL teams with how much talent he has. He could improve his draft stock in being the #1 receiver at UGA next year, but his injury problems will be in the back of his head.
