[Grand Theft Scratchy]

In the not too distant future, Todd Hewitt (Tom Holland) discovers Viola (Daisy Ridley), a mysterious girl who crash lands on his planet, where all the women have disappeared and the men are afflicted by "the Noise" - a force that puts all their thoughts on display. In this dangerous landscape, Viola's life is threatened - and as Todd vows to protect her, he will have to discover his own inner power and unlock the planet's dark secrets.

From the director of The Bourne Identity and Edge of Tomorrow and based on the best-selling novel The Knife of Never Letting Go, Daisy Ridley and Tom Holland star with Mads Mikkelsen, Demián Bichir, Cynthia Erivo, Nick Jonas, Kurt Sutter, and David Oyelowo in Chaos Walking.

Chaos Walking is rated PG-13 and is scheduled to open in 2021.

Well, Doug Liman is a good director and the screenplay was revised by the same writer as the books, Patrick Ness, who also wrote A Monster Calls. So I think it may end up being good. The premise is interesting, a bit of a reverse of the graphic novel Y: The Last Man (which I did read a decade ago and liked) but also with a male protagonist struggling to control his thoughts. Also, Mads Mikkelson is playing the villain.

I remember seeing Annihilation opening night. Besides me there was two old dude friends, two young guy friends, and two young girl friends. This was in a theater that could seat 100 people.

Of course I would later find out Annihilation bombed at the box office. And yet countless YouTube videos and Reddit threads praise it, with their comment sections filled with people bemoaning why movies like this aren't being made anymore.

If people wanted the movie industry to support middle budget films, original ideas, and less popular genres, they need to actually support those efforts with cold hard cash. Their efforts at creativity can't survive on good will alone.

What is the right amount of ideas for a movie?

It is a new world recently colonized by humans who were afflicted by something called the Noise. A girl crash-lands on this new world - she doesn't have the Noise. Boy who can't control his Noise meets this girl and wants to protect her from a crazy mayor (played by Mads Mikkelson) who tries to stop her from warning him about... either the huge incoming ship or something else.

Preacher accidentally drowns horse...less than 30 seconds later deliberately drowns dog. Mads Michelson deliberately kills all the women in the settlement “cuz the men don’t like the women folk what can’t do telepathy always yapping their mouth”
