I don't understand the XBOX debacle right after they spent 70 billion on a top-5 IP, which should have brought them back to competition.
Instead, they are on a suicide run, lemming style.
If they're not focusing on hardware or Gamepass, what is their focus?

The strategy genre alone has a rich library of games on PC. Hearts of Iron 4, Homeworld, Total War, etc.
More than that though. Last Epoch was just released on PC and has a lot of folks playing it. I see a lot of games on Steam that just are not available on consoles. Probably because they don't have to worry about stuff like dev kits. Ease of entry.
lol nonsense. Sales split show 15-20% sales go to Xbox. 55-60% go to PS5 and the rest of the 15-20% go to PC in UK. So if they stop portin games Xbox, might as well stop shipping games on PC.
20% might sound low but sometimes it comes down to whether or not you are profitable. So if they skip Xbox, they better hope to make that up on PS5 and PC. And good luck with that.
MS just needs to kill gamepass because they have trained their users to not buy games and wait for them to show up on gamepass. Xbox userbase always used to spend more per user than the PS userbase up until the X1 era. It was only after gamepass did we start to see lower spending on the box. Kill gamepass and you will see people spend more.
In terms of platforms, PC was No.1 in terms of game sales, ahead of PS5 (No.2), Switch (No.3), PS4 (No.4) and Xbox Series S and X (No.5). Out of those five, Switch and PS4 were the only platforms to post a drop in game sales year-on-year.
The biggest European market for games remains the UK, ahead of Germany (No.2), France (No.3), Spain (No.4) and Italy (No.5).
Precisely my point.
Your point is you want formulaic AAA $70 slop and not ambitious titles with a smaller budget?Precisely my point.
The Premium Edition of SoT is $60.Stellar Ass costs twice as much.
yep. why fabricate a new paradigm (game pass) when you've now positioned yourself to kick ass in the existing one?...Fans stupidly cheered for big acquisitions thinking they would be used to push an almost dead console brand.
The reality is that after the Activision acquisition they grew too big for this to be sustainable.
Microsoft's top management sees Xbox like a dead weight hindering the profits and grow they can achieve by become a leading multiplatform publisher.
That's exactly how I feel about it as well. And this is why I don't have any sympathy for Xbox 'pundits'; their 'analysis' and 'commentary' were always full of shit and excuses in favor of Xbox. ZERO critical thinking or insight about it.
But it is nice to see that specific community in shambles.
Regarding Xbox, as I said before, the atonement task in the next 2-4 years is going to be hell.
I'm sure Sea of Thieves and Hi-Fi Rush sales on PS5 have already exceeded their expectations.Thats bad for Xbox fans. It will teach MS that the grass is greener on PS5 and all their games will sell better on PS5 since the Xbox audience doesn't buy games since they wait for them to come to Gamepass
No your point was that PS5 "have all the PC games" and that is factually not true.

It has all the games that sell from major third parties
Yes PC has strategy games. I can play those on an outdated pc, don’t need a gaming rig to do so
I'm willing to bet the 10-year COD deal that Jim Ryan got out of it was what fucked Xbox over.I think the issue was that they bought a multiplatform publisher. They probably know from them how much money they would lose if they went exclusive. Usually a strategy would work well if you owned the majority of the market but since they don't the opposite happened.
Gamepass imo is already an old chapter at this point.
They have realized after two years of flatlined growth at 25-30m subscribers that the dream of growing the service to 80-100m subscribers is impossible to achieve because the interest in such service is simply not as big as they anticipated.
Games are not movies or songs, gamers cannot play 100 games a year and they cannot force all publishers to release all their big games day one there if the business model isn't viable unless they're paying the bills by themselves.
The next step is becoming a gaming giant as a leading multiplatform publisher.
Im a sony/playstation guy since ps3 ... but after the Ps5 Pro specs announcement + sony games on PC ... Im really starting to think that next gen Im going PC only.
PS5 is never going to have 70 years of software ported to it. It does not even have half the games that released on PC in the last year.
Do you agree with him?Pretty much. This is going exactly as expected.
Why are you here evangelizing mate? Someone who can afford proper high end PC gaming can more than afford any PS5, so why wouldn't they have both? Someone who can only afford a PS5 is obviously not going to pay for a good gaming rig, so you're not going to convince them with these comments.
You buy a laptop or some integrated crap and it is simply not going to cut it for the more modern releases.
Because PS5 hardware is a dinosaur before the big meteor hits. I am just giving them a heads up.Why are you here evangelizing mate? What do you mean by that exactly?Because PS5 hardware is a dinosaur before the big meteor hits. I am just giving them a heads up.
I remember most Gaffers at the time said it was a genius move to have two different SKUs and I got mocked for saying that Sony would completely undermine the Series strategy if they would release a "10tflop" console at a price right in between Series S and X.Releasing the Xbox-Series S was a ridiculous move. As developers, when dealing with the PS5 it's easy. You have one platform and that's it; same hardware etc. The series S and X are different and we have to develop for the lower S, which is a pain.
I even heard 1 person say it's the best deal in gaming, have you ever heard that?Less focus on GamePass? Why? GamePass is fucking amazing.
Failed strategy due to lack of growth opportunity. It's unsustainable.Less focus on GamePass? Why? GamePass is fucking amazing.
It is not just Xbox that will be exiting the console industry in the next decade. What do you mean by that exactly?
Are you trolling or...
Besides, what's that got to do with the thread topic?

I am not planing on supporting Sony though for various reasons. I will stick with MS as they have always been the only relevant company in terms of good hardware (lol @ Nintendo), so MS better turn this shit around. Otherwise it will be Nintendo and retro consoles, which honestly is largely enough considering the free time I have available anyway...
Until they pull the plug.Dring must be smoking the good kush. March has been fantastic, so if there's less focus, it's certainly not showing.
And all the first party content will continue to be on the service day 1.
