Christopher Dring - "Xbox not even on store shelves in certain parts of the world"

Europeans and Asians have pretty much abandoned ExBox, as have retailers.

Shelf space in physical retail stores is great advertising, walking into a shop and only seeing PlayStation and Switch isn't a good look for Microsoft.

Are people now apologising to that Saudi journalist?

Jez is Saudi now ? That would explain the beard and the love for the green flag

My local Walmart just moved the Xbox section around and it's a smaller space. They gave the Nintendo section more space - probably for the switch 2. Playstation stayed the same. Also most of the Xbox section is like headsets and controllers and the backbone. They still have physical games. But yeah. Depressing looking at it when comparing to what Nintendo and Playstation have.

I don't understand Xbox's strategy. They're clearly abandoning their current console and there's barely any stock in stores, but they're still supposed to release another console in a couple of years.

I remember from summer 1998 to winter 1999 Sega having not retail presence.

Certainly didn't give people confidence once Dreamcast arrived

Xbox series X is fully stocked in my area.

Side note - I can't believe that Series X is $600 now, like wtf are they thinking. I brought mine at launch for $500 and its now $100 more brand new... insane.

Target closest to my house as a few Series S but no Series X last I went a few days back.
Rare sighting of XSS in BestBuy or Target in Northern VA and couple places in MD near DC. No XSX in sight, barely any accessories and maybe a random Madden or CoD physical copy.

Bunch of PS5 and Switch 1 hardware as well as software (for S2 as well).

It hasn't been a good couple of days for our friend Jez, the cherry on top would be a GP price increase this week too

No way they can increase the price of GP this year. That has to be a 2026 thing. You can't raise the price of the console, games, and subscription service in the same year.

They are transitioning to an all-digital brand. Their next console won't have a disc drive. I don't know how they expect this to go well in retail stores but that's what they are clearly doing

It really is what people wanted, including Xbox fans, so I hope you guys also celebrate.

How did anyone using the xbox platform want this? We wanted a healthy platform and eco system which xbox nailed on all fronts apart from rhe most important.

They didn't have games like last of us. Astro bot. Spider man etc that gains excitement and high metacritic scores to drive fans to feel excited about the platform.

There's tens of millions who enjoy gamepass and xbox games which is proven by sales on all platforms. They just didn't have the 92 plus metacritic games and that holds a lot of weight in today's world.

Excusing everything Xbox ever did wrong, being deliberately blind to anything bad happening and shifting the blame to everyone else instead (mostly Sony, which by the way you are also doing right now) and viewing Phil and gamepass as a Prophet that can do no wrong. All these things directly led to the current situation, maybe it would have turned out different had some of you tried to hold them accountable for their failures and ask for more all these years. In the end, you reap what you sow.

The last PlayStation console released is digital only, with a drive add on availble for extra. Hopefully MS also do an add-on for the next gen console for BC for existing physical games.
