Very curious to see if the (mostly) new writers can keep up the tone and humor from previous years. This show has outlived my wildest expectations just by making it to Season 4, to be completely honest.

And, as much as I fear the damage that BBT could do to Community's ratings, I'd like to think that moving that show away from Monday nights can only help Chuck's numbers.

Revos Theorem Image[IMG]
I think I tend to agree with your theorem a bit more then Solo's. Well, the dip at the beginning at season 3 would be a lot steeper, but overall I think it follows my feelings. Beard, TicTac, and 3.5 were all on the level of season 2 so I am right there with you.

Also, great job on the thread Cornballer!

Edit = The image changed so I edited it out.

Can't freaking wait!

At my current rate, I'll be through my season 1-3 rewatch this weekend, just in time for Monday.

BRING IT ON!

After getting my BRDs of season 3, I went back and watched all of season 3.5 again and it really does have me excited about season 4. I think the show works better when it keeps a more lighthearted tone, if for no other reason then the humor comes out better that way.

Also, seeing this gif makes me think they need to have Sarah join the Nerd Herd as her new cover job so she can wear that every week. Especially since they have decided to not use the Orange Orange this season.

Catching up on my rewatch....

Chuck versus The Other Guy
Lots of back and forth about whether or not Shaw is evil. The elevator scene where they keep on kidnapping people after nabbing the director is hilarious. Morgan eventually figures out that Shaw is faking his fights, so it's off to Paris for everyone. Kinda surprised that Chuck can't take Shaw after he has flashed at the cafe. Oh well, he caps him later on the bridge anyway. Hooray, Chuck gets laid and sees the Eiffel Tower! On to the back end of S3.

Some good lines in this one:
- "You'll be forwarded to a Colonel Sanders. Don't make fun of his name."
- Morgan in Yoda voice: "No, there is another."

Overall, it's a good episode to tie up S3. There really wasn't as much dead weight in the early part of S3 as I had remembered - for the most part it's pretty good stuff with a couple scenes that misfire along with Sarah frowning all the time.

Chuck versus the Honeymooners
Shipper's paradise. Sarah gets to smile and make jokes - this is a revelation. Well, the fact that she's wearing lingerie the entire episode and putting on a Southern accent doesn't hurt, either. Casey and Morgan teaming up is great, as always. Handcuff fight scenes are very well done. Another misfire from Jeffster with them doing Leaving on a Jetplane. Such a fun episode, and it's a huge relief after all the angst from the early part of the season.

Guess I'll dig into The Role Models and The Tooth tonight.

I enjoyed The Other Guy as well. I forgot about the part with Colonel Sanders (hilarious), but I also like the scene after the title sequence where the General is going over all of the backup Chuck called in, including stealth bombers and a tank. I also liked Morgan figuring out the fight was a fake, especially after seeing everyone who was live blogging here and on SA bitching about how shitty the choreography was on the fight earlier in the episode. Finding out that it was supposed to look that way was great. As far as the Chuck Flash, I remember liking originally that he couldn't take Shaw in a fight since it showed that he wasn't invincible just because he flashed. Of course it does seem odd since he was later able to beat Shaw + intersect in a fight in Ring: Part 2. I still cringe whenever I see Sarah cut all of the cords that Chuck used to tie up Morgan. That poor Zapper :(

I have nothing else to really add to Honeymooners, I think you covered the highlights fairly well.

As far as tonight's rewatch episode, I love the beginning scene with the Morgan's Hart to Hart dream. That and the scene between him and Sarah was hilarious. I wish they had more scenes together.

"Vs. the Tooth" had my favorite bit character all season.

"So will Merlin, Chuck. So will Merlin."

So ready for the return of Chuck! Can't wait for next week. :) I've been in since Season 1, Episode 1 first aired and I'm not going anywhere soon.

In a word, this show is: Awesome!

Not necessarily, though I imagine it'll be on the bubble yet again this year. There was some speculation and rumors floating around the interwebs last weekend, and I'll summarize that in a post later when I have some time.

I certainly hope it keeps going, I'll take as much Chuck (and Sarah) that I can get :D

I'm always crossing my fingers for it when it comes to renewal season.

Haha, that's exactly the gif I picked for that episode.

It is a great once, but I was actually looking for the gif that matches my quote. Sarah is crouching down talking to Chuck and then Merlin pops up behind her. I know I have seen it before, but I am at work and don't have time to hunt it down.

Missed this earlier, but I will certainly be interested in hearing speculation. I haven't spent much time looking at that stuff this summer.

I think the plus going into this season is if that it gets the back 9, it will be possible to hit 100 episodes in season 5 which studios like for syndication. Since NBC doesn't produce the show they won't care, but WB might give them such a cheap price for the show that NBC might keep it on the air. Who knows what will happen although, I think almost everyone (including Fedack and Schwartz) assumed last season was going to be the last going into it. Then it got the additional 6 episodes and later another 13 episode season with an option for a back 9.

Speaking of which, I imagine we will be hearing if Chuck gets a back 9 in the next month or two. They were filming episode 6 last week and they are going to want to pick it up before production shuts down, since it will add a lot of costs if they have to start it up again.

Finished watching Season 3 last night, I had planned on just watching two episodes for the night but started 3.5 and was up until 5 am as a result. I agree with Revo's thoughts on the season, loved Beard and Tic Tac, and Honeymooners was such a wonderful change for the better. Subway was also fantastic.
I'll be looking forward to seeing Season 4
when the DVD set comes out
So glad they got the extra six episodes, it's going to be difficult to resume watching The West Wing after seeing that much concentrated awesome.

What season of The West Wing are you on? If it is 5 or most of 6, you are screwed. Season 7 is pretty good although, and of course 1-4 are awesome.

Also, thanks CB. That was the gif I was looking for.

I'm going to be starting Season 5, so I guess I'm screwed

Has NBC done *any* advertising for S4? I've seen waaaay too much advertising for Undecovers, but almost nothing else.

Just an ad featuring Chuck and Morgan that promotes The Event. :/

I think they had some sort of commercial during that pre-game concert leading into the New Orleans/Minnesota game, although I haven't see it. Honestly, I don't think they are expecting any growth and are fine with the normal Chuck audience and are putting all of their money into their new shows in the hope of having a hit.

5 is the worst, season, but I don't think it is bad. 1~4 are amazing. 5 is the low point. 6 and 7 are still good, but for different reasons than the first 4 seasons are.

I think the problem is that with Sorkin gone, the new showrunner and writers didn't have a handle on the old characters and the show lost a lot of its charm. Once they changed direction and focused on the election with new characters they created themselves, the show got a lot better.

A couple rumors regarding scheduling and the like.

- From TV By the Numbers: Huh? Sept. 27 Episode of ‘Chuck‘ Will Compete With ‘The Event‘
Both Chuck and The Event premiere on September 20 on NBC. But at 8pm on September 27, at the same time the second episode of Chuck will air, NBC Universal will run an encore of the first episode of The Event on six of NBC Universal’s cable channels: Syfy, Oxygen, Bravo, Sleuth, Chiller and Universal HD.
There's more explanation via the link as to why NBC are doing it and how it might impact Chuck's numbers.

Also, there was a supposed NBC insider in the comments that made the following remarks in that thread regarding Chuck, extra episodes this season, and The Event:
1. If there was a pick up it would be 6 not 9

2.NBC/Comcast may be looking to buy CHUCK or partner with WB for syndcation.

3.The first 4 eps of CHUCK, will be some of the most action packed, fun shows they have produced since the first season. NBC is hoping to get 3 million male viewers to stick around for THE EVENT.

4. If THE EVENT does well, CHUCK will get a back 6.
None of this is on good authority, but the rumor is that Chuck's fate might be tied to The Event and a back 6 is more likely than a back 9. Take that with a grain of salt, of course. In any case, no reason to get worked up about this - just some speculation/rumors that I thought people might want to see.

File me under cautious optimism for S4.

Its no secret that S2 is one of my favorite seasons of television - so fucking perfect. Its also no secret that S3 managed to almost destroy my love for the show completely (unequivocally dire opening eps, beating the long dead Chuck/Sarah angst horse, Shaw, near character assassination of Chuck by making him a completely unlikable douche for most of the season, Jeffster and their performances feeling "off", etc.), but they managed to pull out of the descent in the final few eps (Tic Tac and Honeymooners being among the cream of the series' crop).

So Im not as excited or as in love with the show as I once was, but I also feel confident that Schwartz and Fedak have learned from their S3 blunders and may well make a return towards the show I used to love so much.
