but ever so delicious
What a strange episode. I guess i wasn't expecting the end to happen like that, Seems volkie is going to be the season story here but sarah as a DA seems odd.

I need to start listening to the rest of their stuff. Really liked "Christmas TV" from S2 Season Finale and now this.

This is the group that did Christmas TV? I didn't even notice that. I might have to start listening as well.

Short synopsis is out for 4.14, "Chuck vs. The Seduction Impossible." As a warning, this is a bit more spoilery then usual.

Casey, Chuck and Sarah are sent to Morocco to rescue Roan Montgomery ("John Larroquette");. Morgan plans to meet Alex's mother and Mary spends some time with her family.

Guess Sarah is able to rescue Chuck's mom. Also, should answer NotTheGuyYouKill's question from last night.

They've hated most of this season so far, iirc.

To be fair, this whole proposal bullshit is unnecessary relationship drama that they thought needed to be shoe horned in because they thought these were the couple episodes. I liked Speinwall blowing Fedek and Scwartz mind by asking them to do an episode where they are just a couple in the Firewall and Iceberg podcast last week.

They said S3 was better than S4.

Their reviewer must be like the anti-me. Watching season 3 again on Blu-Ray actually made me dislike it even more. Well, excluding the final six episodes, Vs. The Beard, and Vs. The Tic Tac. Those are all still great.

Early look at the ratings - pretty consistent with what they were looking like in the late-Fall last year, but we'll have to wait for the demo numbers and see how those held up. What's up with people watching Harry's Law?!?
Mediaweek said:
But the positive news for NBC was hefty sampling for the series-premiere of new David E. Kelley legal drama Harry’s Law, with Oscar winner Kathy Bates. Harry’s Law launched with a dominant 7.5 rating/12 share in the overnights at 10 p.m. (one-tenth of a rating point ahead of CBS’ competing Hawaii Five-O), building from the second episode of The Cape (#4: 4.0/ 6, and its first original in the Monday 9 p.m. hour) by a whopping 87 percent. Needless to say, The Cape came crashing down from its ample tune-in on Sunday, January 9. Compared to failed year-ago occupant The Jay Leno Show (3.5/ 6 on Jan. 18, 2010), Harry’s Law improved the time period by 114 percent. Earlier in the evening on NBC was should-be-axed Chuck at a fourth-place 3.8/ 6 at 8 p.m.
The people at Mediaweek like Chuck about as much as the Onion A|V Club reviewer likes S4.

I don't mind them dipping into the Chuck-Sarah relationship from time to time - they're both charming and there's plenty of material there. But it does get a little tedious if that's the only thing they focus on. The secondary characters (Morgan, Casey, Awesome, etc...) are great and they need their own storylines every once in a while.

Mediaweek is Marc Berman right? Yeah, he has been saying the show should be axed since season 2. Still not sure what he thinks NBC is going to replace it with that is going to get better ratings.

Yup, that's him. He labels it with "should have been canceled" or "should be axed" every week.

Harry's Law was stupid, but oddly charming. It also is David E. Kelley and Kathy Bates.

Ratings from TVBTN:
Chuck fans who thought it would return within its typical ratings range were vindicated, as its 2.0 adults 18-49 rating was just above its Fall average. Moving to 9pm Monday, The Cape fell 31% vs. its double episode Sunday premiere to just a 1.8 adults 18-49 rating. While the series premiere of Harry’s Law drew a 2.1 adults 18-49 rating. Hardly a rousing start.

I guess that ties the season high according to a few different places. Good stuff.

Streams of last night's episode:
- NBC.com
- Hulu

Never a bad idea to run one of these in a background even if you'd seen the episode already.

We need a gif for when that girl comes into the buymore, and Big Mike makes that weird noise with his mouth and goes "damn". I can see it being used a lot lol

Don't forget the ridiculously gorgeous Brittany Snow. She's about 80% of the reason I watched it.

Did my ears deceive me, or did Lester call himself a HinJew (Hindu + Jew)? :lol

I liked this episode. But like every other ep this season, it was brillant and then turning really awkardly bad in an instant.

I love the french way of going under the french culture (and I enjoyed the hell out of it, as a French dude) but the peak of this ep was Casey, lighting off his cigar and throwing his lines about the proposal. Gold Chuck moment here.

(uber lol at Chuck trolling Casey as manserver)

I thought last nights episode was the worst of the season so far, however my wife f'n loved it lol. I guess they need to throw in an episode for the ladies once and a while.

As usual I'm not much into Chuck/Sarah-centric stories, but I'm willing to look over that since I've rarely ever laughed this much in a single hour. That, and it's understandable that they wanted to give shippers their episode (even though the proposal thing was such a cock-tease that most of them left pissed off claiming "Worst Chuck episode EVER!")

Great Episode with an unexpected twist at the end. Jeffster is back with full force and ready to take over the World. The promo for next episode looks more than promising.

Thought the first half was weak and it really picked up by the end when everyone got involved with the plan. I'm hopeful for the possibilities of the twist at the end. Oh, and Casey is just plain fantastic. Loved his brief little speech about proposals.

Edit - While I love to see Jeffster I thought it could've been better.

Good to have chuck back, really liked the first half, with casey as a manservant took me back to the first seasons.
I feel the whole mariageproposal dragged on for a bit to long really.

I thought that episode was awesome and a good way to welcome back Chuck, but the proposal stuff was a little...weird. It's not that I don't like the things that go on between Chuck and Sarah, it's just that Sarah knowing about the proposal just sort of takes away the huge surprise behind it all and the fact that she was taking over was emasculating for Chuck, imo. But either way, great episode.

And WOW @ 4.14 synopsis, it just doesn't hesistate to spoil everything about S4 Pt.1's finale. LOL

I loved when Casey walked in on Morgan, figured out what was going on, and (instead of grunting and walking away) sits down to help.

That and the "you just need the girl" bit were awesome character moments.

In renewal news, the Comcast-NBCU deal has just been approved by the FCC, and it's expected to close on January 28. That means renewal and cancellation decisions will be done entirely by new management, instead of the previous relatively Chuck-favorable executives.

Hopefully it doesn't hurt Chuck's chances for a fifth season, but it certainly adds a wildcard to the list of factors.

I've seen Comcast use Zachary Levi and his appearance on Chuck as promoting the network and Xfinity as well as him and Joshua Gomez on 'themoreyouknow' from NBC.

Yikes, sounds like it's pretty bad. Glad I didn't peek when copying it into the OP yesterday.

Who knows... Hopefully Chuck keeps the ratings up above the other struggling NBC shows and at least differentiates itself that way.

I liked it a lot but my girlfriend said she's over it now. She hates the Chuck/Sarah relationship at this point and I suppose I can't blame her.

It's pretty clear it will never live up to S1 and S2.

Good episode that would have been great had the writers had some balls and not predictably gone the route of dragging out Chuck and Sarah ad nauseum rather than just having them get married and end the relationship drama/angst/will they-wont they. So frustrating that Fedak and Schwartz just don't get it, and never will. Aside from that though I found the episode to be quite enjoyable, and the Chuck and Sarah interaction was quite good aside from the ending.

- Lester: “I keep telling them that I live in the United States of America now. This isn’t Canada!” LOL
- greenscreen France, haha
- faux-drunk Yvonne = adorable
- watching Sarah tower over and dominate Morgan is too funny
- another subpar Jeffster performance :(
- just when I was thinking they had somehow miraculously deliver a very sweet, touching proposal scene, they oh so predictably drag that shit out longer with a crappy twist
- man, that Chuck and Casey scene was fantastic

I dunno why but this episode didn't do it for me.. I'm kind of getting tired of this show :/
edit-guess I'm not the only one.

Spoilers from Ausiello:
Question: Could we please get some good new Chuck spoilers? —Alissa
Ausiello:
Look for the new G-woman played by Robin Givens to butt heads with General Beckman when the former arrives on the scene this spring. Also, I uncovered a few more details about the new Vivian character being played by Supernatural‘s Lauren Cohan. Per a Chuck source, Vivian finds herself thrust into the spy world and quickly discovers that she has a lot in common with Chuckles. Are you thinking what I’m thinking..? ‘Cause I’m thinking… oh, I better not. I don’t need to spend the rest of the week wading through hate tweets.

Oh, and why no mention of the intersect plot? So, its just the same intersect with no improvements? If so, pretty lame.

I was amused last night because we've been bitching about the intersect only serving up kung fu these days, and that's just what we got last night. That being said, the fight with the wine glass was clever.

I thought the episode pressed some damned good buttons for some reason the episode felt uneven too

I loved Marriage Proposal sidestory lead up and Morgan and Casey watching with such interest but the interruption...argh, felt so robbed.

I loved watching Lester, Vik Sahay pay tribute to his canadian roots during the arranged marriage meet.

The Jeffster moment with Whitesnake's "Is This Love?", one of my faves.

Intersect 3.0's upgrade with more advanced subtler combat training...meh.

I'm convinced we haven't seen everything yet about this new Intersect. There has to be something else, considering it was a major plot point of the last few episodes. It can't just be slightly superior skills (otherwise, it is indeed incredibly lame), we've got a twist coming about that soon.

I hope so, at least. Pretty please?

Nope, the twist is that Sarah is secretly already married to zombie bryce and she now has to put an end to her undead husband if she is to ever truly be with Chuck. haha

Yeah, the intersect stuff just seemed same ole same ole. Like what was the point of the reboot if it didn't really enhance or change anything noticeable?

That's been clear since S3 premiered. S2 was lightning in a bottle.

Absolutely.

I got a friend of mine into Chuck, and she really liked S1, and now is ADORING S2. I told her it doesn't stay that good though, because it doesn't :(.

Oh well, still a great show, and I'll never stop loving it, if not writing it into my heart :p.

S2 4 lyfe.

Even though the show has never reached season 2's level of constant perfection, there are still wonderful moments throughout seasons 3 and 4. I still enjoy the show and have a blast, but it is not near the same quality level as season 2. It is now just an enjoyable way to spend an hour each Monday night and not think too much.

You guys have really high standards. I've enjoyed all of the seasons a lot. Chuck is one of my favorite shows ever.

I don't watch a lot of TV

Chuck would make my "favorite shows ever" list too though.

And yeah, I'm kind of a picky bitch :p.

I have really enjoyed seasons 3 and 4 but I am slowly starting to feel this way as well and I hate you for it.

I don't know whether I should be sad or :lol smiley about this ;)

I do find it interesting that so many seem to be having their "I think I'm kinda over it" moment now of all times rather than last season when the show was so dire. I went through that feeling pretty early last season. While this season hasn't approached S1 levels let alone S2 levels, its been better than S3 to enough of a degree that it has reignited my love for the show to a certain extent.

There is a big catch 22 with Chuck though - its awesome because of Schwartz and Fedak, but it also sucks because of Schwartz and Fedak.
