Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 ≼| OT |≽ La Belle Fantaisie

Might be time to day-one dip for a possible new good french devs team.

We've lost Ubisoft for years now, maybe Sandfall Interactive is the new baguette ?

Living in France, i can definitely tell you that all arts & medias here are infested with DEI and fully engaged on using these mediums to push political & "progress" messages so i'm still quite hesitant.
But i want to believe as it looks quite decent so far.

Damn, that Oblivion remaster launching the same week for the same price is probably going to hurt the sales of this.

Hopefully it still does fine

Love the OT, informative and presentive. This game looks amazing and underrated. So little buzz about it but I'm hoping it's good. Love turn-based.

I thought for sure that this was Robert Pattinson:

Anyway, looking forward to playing this!

I need to upgrade my computer before I even attempt to play this (not even bothering with a 1080 GTX). I do hope that it ends up on GOG by then (the publisher's the type that typically drops a game on there within a few months of the initial release). But man, it looks so fucking good.

Nacon is a French publisher that works with a lot of devs in France and looks like they're making big strides this year too. In fact I'm surprised they weren't all over Clair Obscur.

Really excited for this release, it speaks to me in all the right ways and I'm happy to support a fresh new IP and smaller dev studio even if there's some remastered old game coming out this week too.

Great OT! I don't think I'll have time to play this at launch, but I am really looking forward to it.

Turn-based combat is dead, long live turn-based combat!

I'm very intrigued by this turn-based yet timing related combat, seems like a interesting new idea and I'm glad to see that there still are developers out there looking to innovate.

I feel so bad for the developers of this game. Oblivion remake is going to hurt the sales

Tough industry. They'll be fine in the long run if the game is good. A lot of games on Steam have long legs. They just need to keep marketing the game throughout the year, new features, dlc, and it'll be ok.

OK SO I GOT THE GAME

Did they say anything about a day 1 patch?!

BTW if you're planning on playing this on Steam, CDKeys has a great preorder price. I'm currently waiting to see if the PC version runs well (that's where I play most of my JRPGs), or if I'd have to get it on the PS5 Pro.

Also is anyone getting the deluxe edition? I feel the extras are honestly kinda meh?

Its $31.50 on my store. Is it cheaper?

I will get it just for the support. I'm with you though, very meh

~$34, which is honestly great if you're in the US.

But I'd advise you to get it on your store as it's not only cheaper than CDKeys, you also get to take advantage of Valve's refund policy in case it doesn't run well or something..

Yeah absolutely. Thank you though

I'm still getting this next, but it really sucks for the devs that Oblivion dropped right on top of them.
I actually feel sorry for them, I'm guessing this is going to get totally eclipsed by Oblivion.

It highly depends on the metacritic score pf expedition 33. There are is quite a bit lf hype and if it reviews well i dont see a problem for the game tho.

New Game > Old game in my book.

Oblivion is similar to Elden Ring, Xeno X or MMOs. Long games you can come back to at any time. Sub 30 hour RPGs like Clair can be cleared in a couple days.

Clair Obscur was always going to be niche especially since Elder Scrolls is very popular and it's a primarily turn based game. Which only older generation folks like.

I thought it was a 30+ hour game… 🤷

I initially only planned to pick this up because I wanted to support this developer and this type of game. But man my hype level has taken off. I had planned to play some smaller stuff, but I think I am going to have to play this after I finish FF15.

Everything I've seen of the combat system is it's just Final Fantasy X combined with Super Mario RPG, it doesn't seem particularly innovative

I'll try to play this one when it's released, but it's hard to keep up with so many good games on GamePass... I finished Ninja Gaiden 2 Black last weekend, Oblivion came out, now this game is coming out and next month Doom... Someone needs to tell Phil to calm down lol

I got it on Green Man Gaming for $36. Gold XP.

PS5 menu music is 10/10

Starting the game now
