Clinton campaign didn't do tracking polls for the last month, ignored Michigan issues

I wonder how much it cost the campaign to rent out the Javit Center with that glass ceiling.

If I recall reading, the yearly auto show at the same center cost about 2 million for their rental. That's a week long and they probably get a better rate since they are repeat customers.

So much for the months of people telling others Clinton has an amazing ground game that is second to none.

How do you not doing polling for the last month of an election? How do you not ensure the states that need resources have them especially given the amount of money they likely pissed away?

Democrats screwed democrats this election.

GAF turning faster on Hillary than Hannity did on Romney 4 years ago!

Watching a party eat it's own is fascinating.

I was never on Team Hillary, but I voted for her.

I think the issue is that her running such a bad campaign, losing to a political rookie with all sorts of image issues, is gonna cost many a lot.

So let me get this straight. Trump runs a campaign that HINGES on needing support from the rust belt to even have a viable shot... and Hillary's campaign ignores those states presumably because, "eh, they always vote D"? What the fuck. Good job fucking over the entire planet guys.

That's not even getting into picking Kaine who was the most milquetoast person she could have picked. She needed to have thrown a bone to Sanders supporters. I understand Kaine was the best for governing but that doesn't mean shit unless you get elected in the first place.

Kaine was decided in July 2015. Take a second to reflect on how mind-bogglingly stupid that is after having almost lost the primaries to Bernies movement.

It was complete and total complacency. Fuck.

So Hillary was a bad candidate? damn if only there were some warning signs before shot got nominated...oh wait. That is perhaps harsh but seriously, she was a flawed candidate through and through. Damn i'm pissed :/

The campaign spent the lion's share of their resources in Florida, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Nevada, and North Carolina and managed to win the two least important of them. No one saw Michigan and Wisconsin coming, no poll predicted it. I don't see how the blame for that can be laid squarely at the campaign's feet.

I'm sorry, this is fucking pissing me off.

Where the fuck did the money go to? How about all the donor money? Where is it? What was it spent on? Like, what the fuck did the campaign do?

Jesus fucking Christ. I can't stand her.

maybe they used that money to make the attack ad on a cartoon frog while they should have been in Michigan

Where the fucking hell did all that money go? (besides down the toilet)

We heard for months how much money they had compared to Trump and how superior their ground game was, what the fuck happened? The rust belt and it's blue wall were supposed to be the foundation for the inevitable Democratic victory, how could they drop the ball so badly?

It seems like they got so carried away that they pissed money away on red states thinking they could humiliate the Republicans and neglected to shore up their core states in the EC. It wouldn't have taken that much to win those rust belt states, it really is shocking that they could be so arrogant.

I made a very detailed OP about this the other day. You may find answers within.

As soon as Sanders and Paul were out, I had no interest in any of the candidates. In fact, I actively disliked pretty much all of them.

This was a winnable election. The Clinton campaign was a disaster.

Who keeps making these ridiculous graphs?

Here, I made one that makes things look even worse:

Jesus christ, Obama got 10 times as many votes as hillary! Wtf happened?

Well, unless you have a post bringing this up way back, it literally is hindsight

Like I said, it shouldn't have taken hindsight. I'm sure one lesson the DNC will take from this election is to never assume that you have states locked up. Every vote has to be earned, even if those same people were on your party's side in the past. Does that sound obvious? Well, it was a logic that was sadly ignored by this campaign.

And yet all the while, we fell all over ourselves talking about how organized the Clinton camp was compared to Trump's disorganized mess of a ground campaign.

It's almost as if we make up these narratives out of thin air to suit the reality that we want to believe in.

Seems though a mess, but he at least had a ground game...

:-/

I find this hard to believe. I thought Clinton inherited Obama's data apparatus. What would possibly make her campaign stop doing trackers?

She lost to Sanders in Michigan. How did they not notice she might have a problem there?

Trump's campaign certainly did.

We dodged a bullet there.
Kind of ironic seeing poor judgement be their undoing.

I said this repeatedly early on, that in addition to being a bad candidate because of her wooden charisma and insularity, that one of my biggest issues with her was her poor judgement.

When push comes to shove, she makes terrible decisions, and then she proceeds to make it worse by not owning up to it, deflecting, obfuscating, and then, when everything is going in the shitter, finally makes a milquetoast half apology.

Surprise, bitches.

Well one of them was a real politician and the other one seems to have just been anointed repeatedly for unknown reasons.

Are we really going to revise history, now? Hillary was one of the primary reasons Bill Clinton even won his run for governor of Arkansas which kickstarted his whole political career. "For unknown reasons" is a nonsense statement

Might want to read the numbers on the side. Either way though, Hillary was a goddamn mistake. And I can't shake the idea from my head that the DNC literally gave Hillary a coronation either, and that the fact that she was 'the' candidate they put forth was something planned long in advance.

Watching a party eat it's own is fascinating.

They mostly haven't. Look at the "moderates coming out in force" thread made by Crossing Eden and you can see the most ardent Hill supporters burying their heads and ingnoring that their strategies sucked.

They are all doing this right now.

They lack nuance and have no interest in seeing in what other potential ways they and their chosen candidate. They are going so far as to call Democrats Trump supporters because they refuse to believe there is any other way to approach how we could've won this campaign.

"The most qualified candidate for the job" fucked up in the most spectacular way anyone has ever seen.

Absolute disaster.

Not doing tracking polls ahead of the election seems so foolhardy I'm not sure I believe it. Obama had an incredible polling setup for his re-election, I had thought she was getting help along the same lines.

Not polling MI after their huge primary surprise is straight up incompetent, if true.

This is what bothers me about all this. I'm assuming every poll they did have had her ahead, tracking or not. It wouldn't have made a difference. What they needed to do was go to Michigan and Wisconsin polls or not because of how she did in the Primaries. Even then, I'm worried about whether or not it would have made a difference. She was constantly at Florida and Penn. and still lost. How do you explain that?

That's not a viable logic especially when you have to focus on certain states. Should she had spent money on New York for example? She obviously glossed over the Rust Belt states and was complacent but you don't need or want to put ads in every single state in the Union.

There's a lot of parallels between this campaign and her '08 campaign that she lost if anyone has read Game Change. A sense of inevitability, ignoring obvious issues, internal disagreements and not able to form one solid strategy, Bill strongly disagreeing with the advisers she surrounded herself with...

It's scary how it appears they learned zero lessons from the past. She inherited Obama's ground game, the strongest ever built, and mismanaged the fuck out of it
