[CNBC] Phil Spencer: We are not putting a pause on acquisitions. Also not raising console prices.

Great commitment to console prices, get as much people into gaming as possible, don't put even higher barriers on it by raising prices. People already have to deal with inflation.
It's unbelievable to me that a person has posted a laughing emoji under your post, imagine laughing about inflation and the cost of living crisis.

There is none, that's not the point I'm making

Don't come on national TV and lie to everyone's face about some BS regarding trying to get the most gamers to play their games. It's a totally dishonest statement.

Tell them the truth - you did it be competitive and attract people to your platform

That's all he had to say
Minecraft.

Yes it was "insiders" that said it but you were the one that repeated that everytime to justify Microsofts shopping spree. It feels like you change your opinion on this based on the current topic. There was a PS Version of Starfield just like there was a XBox version of FF7R. The game was announced in 2018 way before Bethesda got bought. Its obvious to anyone with Game Development knowledge that there was a running PS version.
Actually at that time ot was probably barely running on PC and console scoping hadn't even been explored yet.... but go on.

Ignore that poster. The more attention he gets the more he digs it.

He won't post because he knows he will get banned. If you post anything positive Xbox you are getting the lol seal of approval from him.

Insiders were saying that Sony was in negotiations up until mid 2020. So inbetween the announcement and the date where they announced the acquisition you think that there was not a single console build?

I dont understand why people think Microsoft are required to keep COD on PlayStation.
Will playstation make less money without COD? Yes no shit, thats business.

Probably not. TBH.

They might have run some tests, but nothing that could be considered "playable"

Phil Spencer is good at math

Reaching the most gamers possible by walling off a garden that used to be open to everyone

Phil is gaslighting all you guys with this nonsense
They're getting ripped around so hard and fast they can't remember if exclusives are good or bad anymore

Or sales for that matter

It would be wise to finalize the current acquisition being looked into by regulators before running your mouth saying you're not finished buying more developers/publishers.

It's like people boasting about not smoking.
That bad thing there? I am good because I don't do it.
It's petty and Phil is just embarrassing

Can never say never and all arguments against it are weak right now.

They are going to have a field day in the backrooms as it's an easy home run and Sony keeps digging deeper.

I know it would be fun and games to win so easy.

Lawyers everywhere wish they had a big paying easy home run.

They would be stupid not to keep the price the same and get some good optics but it doesn't really matter. Price increase or not this is still just an uphill battle for Xbox.

Well, the greedy as fuck platform holder on top who laughably wants to "protect gamers" raised the price of their console and games. Do you really blame people not getting concerned that Xbox might follow?

They can only afford to protect gamers if they pay them more for that protection.

I love the interviewer. U can tell he is a gamer by these hardcore questions.

However Phil.. like a snake... Didn't answer any question lol. The guy asks him something and Phil replies something not even related.
Interviewer tries again asking the same question but in a different way and Phill still in different world.

Honestly if I am Phill and after this fuckry from "protect gamers" inc. I would remove the 2 years deal and make Cod an exclusive right away. I mean Series S is cheap enough if people REALLY wanted to play Cod. Sony would do that in a heartbeat but somewhat the opposite with the generous offer from Microsoft is "inadequate"… simply fuck off and stop locking stuff and you might get a better offer.

Explain... I thought Phil answered it all very directly.

I must have missed something.

Phil's hoping no one notices Candy Crush.

If Microsoft loses this bid, watch them money hat COD to hell and back for revenge. Then Sony is really screwed and will get nothing. That's what I'd do.

As much as ppl say MS could have moneyhatted 70B worth of games they don't really know what that means.

Basically every game for the next 5 years (and then sone) would be Xbox exclusive, and barely cut into it.

I'm sure in the long run they want to see that money go to Activision and not every game ever released.

Just think how many 600k (cooking simulator) and 100m (Rise of the Tomb Raider) deals they could procure with 75B dollars .

It's not a game Sony wants to be playing.

Do you have pics of Jim Ryan up on the wall like me ? Big Phil, I used to worship him but now I canr belive hes words, he broke my heart.

I appreciate MS growing their internal studios over paying to keep games off other platforms. I also like that he won't be raising console prices. Seems pretty pro-gamer.

More Phil talking in riddles and doublespeak

"our goal is to reach more gamers"

"Exclusives have always been part of our industry and strategy and will continue to be"

The total cognitive dissonance on display is mind boggling.
They reach more gamers buy putting out more access options. The cloud etc and a cheap barrier to entry with series s. It ain't that hard to grasp.

This is really going to heat up now up until November and Phil is doing a great job in handling these interviews and answering the questions.

Sony definitely are shook and are acting like the big cock in the hen pen scared of losing the territory. Competition is great otherwise we would be having to deal with 70 pound games, a company just deciding to raise the prices on their hardware and wouldn't have a great service like game pass coming along.

I honestly don't care if it goes through or not but I definitely don't respect sonys angle here of acting like they care about their customers now after how they are actually acting this generation. Higher priced games, raising hardware prices in a recession and locking in longer timed exclusivity.....how do they actually care about players in any way? There's no evidence of it. It's the opposite.

Gamers want to pay more to help struggling billion dollar corporations.

This flies in the face of that.

We need to set up some godundmes.

Having money at this point is a punishment due to the high inflation so invest it! :) MS gonna own the complete industry in 10 years and all of you supporting this now will be the first to cry and bitch about it.

Phil Spencer is the boogeyman that stalks the shadows of the Sony fanboys nightmares. The monster that hides in the darkness. It is his breathing that is heard coming from their closests, the face of the unknown other that their exs left them for. His friendly demeanour a charade, his soothing words nothing but vile lies.

A despicable creature who lives to take away games from their beloved console.

Then you would have a negative reaction of the type that there was when MS bought the exclusivity of Tom Raider multiplied by 1000%.

If P. Spencer understood anything, it is that the social media and press do not react the same to the purchase of an exclusive AAA Third if MS does it VS if Sony does. We have all seen it too.

MS moneyhating temporal AAA Thirds exclusives by the ton wouldn't make sense from a strategic, economic or social point of view..... Certainly not for Xbox.

If for some reason the acquisition of ACT-BLZ does not happen, I see MS more trying to buy other less expensive big editors (WB,Ubi,EA...) or various independent AAA Studios than anything else.

The objective of MS is to have control over a large catalog of games and IPs, not to sell several million more consoles with temporary exclusives that are very difficult to amortize when you are not the market leader and your user base is not enough for it.

Isn't this the same Phil that last month was saying he hates exclusives and wished they didn't exist.

Grade A clown and liar I'm getting tired of him opening his job; even worse the worship by the cultists here.

IRL console wars. These CEOs have radicalised gamers the same way politics have radicalised the electorate. It's been happening for the last 10 years or so.

The cringe drama between Jim and Phil has been tough to witness but it keeps everyone entertained. A car crash you can't avoid looking at. Everyone looking for an opening and score a goal.

What next piece of dramatic statement will be released tomorrow? It's becoming a "he said, she said" court drama now. Whatevs.

Not sure I would blame or put the cause on ceo's, we probably had worse and official 'console war' bait comments in the nintendo/sega era.

The internet has made engagement especially ones based on negative feelings easier to game and importantly monetize. That's the cause of it.

Interviewer: But with Bethesda you removed Starfield from PlayStation

Phil: we want to reach the most gamers, you can go to Xbox .com and stream it

Durrrr, it's not exclusive, you see? Just play it on the cloud
He's so full of crap lol and for some reason so many Xbox fans fall for it constantly. I have a Series X, I had a One X, I had multiple 360's, I pre ordered the original Xbox and even beta tested Xbox live so while I'm more into what Sony offers and have been since the start of last gen, I'm still an Xbox fan as well. I am upset about the lack of 1st party output not just this gen but for most of last gen as well, hell even the last 3-4 years of the 360 that focused on kinect, I couldn't care less about game pass to be honest with you. All of these "exclusives" he's getting by buying 3rd party publishers are a joke, we would have had those games anyway and MS could have just paid the publishers to put them on game pass, instead MS went out and bought Bethesda just to keep their big games off of PlayStation and the fact that he's so non-committal about COD for the future shows that his plan was ALWAYS to take it away at some point no matter how he tries to spin it.
