College Football 2013 |Week 1| - Death Throes

I am keeping this thread open all day, too pumped!

Also, the traffic here in Tuscaloosa last night was crazy, surprised more people didn't travel to Atlanta on Wednesday/Thursday, last time LSU was here they were coming in the Sunday before, crazy traffic all the time during football season here

And so the B12 has already been eliminated from NCG consideration. Gotta love college football.
You sir don't know college football.Kansas State was never supposed to win the Big 12 again this year. We lost pretty much our entire defense. On offense we lost a heisman finalist, a WR and a TE.

None of that is an excuse for losing. Snyder did this in 2003 vs marshall. Was so stubborn the first game like always and loses the game. I thought he learned after the 10-7 win last year in the opener. But no. Going to be a long year.

Good Morning, CFB-GAF!

We've already seen some games and it's been great. But this ... this feels different.

I mean, it's SATURDAY!

Patriots released Tebow. Even though I absolutely hated his guts in college, I can't help but root for him in the pros. Seems like a good guy and damn his year at Denver provided som crazy-ass entertainment! Hope this isn't the end for him in the NFL.

Jumping from your previous two jobs really does hurt one's likability.
It's no different than any other coach who has changed schools to further his career. I'm not sure why everyone harps on this.

He also unfairly had the reputation as a guy who could never stay put, but his coaching career has been one of taking jobs to move up in the coaching hierarchy. Hell, I strongly believe that if Saban had never had the itch to try out the NFL, he'd still be at LSU because there just aren't very many schools better situated for building a juggernaut than LSU.

I love being right, even if it took a few years. Knew he'd never make it as a qb in the pros. Now he couldn't make it as a tight end. Next stop CFL.

It's apparent now that he was surrounded by an absurd level of talent at UF. His primary value was as a leader/face of the team, which god knows they needed with pieces of shit like Aaron Hernandez, Riley Cooper, the Pouncey twins, and Brandon Spikes on the team.

Same here. Would be neat to see an NFL team give him and his style a shot; in theory you could build a team to suit his strengths. Problem is, at this point no one thinks he's good enough to build a team around, so it's a moot point how cool it might be to see, heh. He's done.

I can't hold all the ESPN attention against him, and I'll always remember that playoff win over the Steelers. But I think we're all ready to move on.

Hey, Tuscaloosa represented proper. Eat at Rama Hamas for us.

Birmingham was fucked by traffic last night. Wrecks, hs football, and Atlanta bound traffic.

He simply isn't a good enough passer to be an NFL QB.

He seems like a genuinely good guy, but he doesn't have a chance unless he reinvents himself at a different position like fullback (and most NFL teams are moving away from that position anyways).

True, but then again he took a mediocre Denver team to the playoffs and a first-round playoff win over a good Pittsburgh team. Dude knows how to win.

It seems to me that a team like the Bills or Jags (for example), that are bound to be bottom feeders for the next five+ years, should just say "the hell with it" and give him and his style a shot. Ticket sales alone would be worth the effort.

Do you mean Rama Jamas :p, I don't recall a Rama Hamas lol

And same, Atlanta bound traffic and TCHS debuted their new QB last night, I went to Hale County for a game last night and that small town couldn't handle the traffic going through it.

Baffled that the Jags wouldn't make a franchise move in signing Tim. Put butts in seats, sell merch, use that cash to pour into the team.

Guys, guys! IT'S SATURDAY!

30 minutes to kick off. My wife is spending the day with her parents. That means 14 uninterrupted hours of college freakin' football!

See I completely agree. And the Bills do make sense if anyone does.

Seriously, you go HUGE up front, HUGE in the backfield, HUGE outside (hands-specialists), run the ball 70/30, dominate TOP, and build a badass defense. That team could win games, to say nothing of being interesting and unique.

All this copy-cat shit everywhere, man. You can win football games a lot of different ways.

Understandable, as many restaurants as we have here I wouldn't be surprised if we also had a Rama Hama's

Also, am I the only person that thinks OSU/Miss St won't be a complete blowout? I think it will actually stay close for the majority of the game

I really like Pat Fitzgerald. He's either gonna take NW as high as they can possibly go and keep them there, or he's headed to a big-time gig.

Oh hey guys.

This "community forum" shit is the worst. Out of sight, out of mind. EspeciAlly when we have new consoles coming to argue about!

So why isn't Nick Marshall in the Heisman Watch list? How quickly we forget Auburn's history with JC transfers in Gus Malzahn's offense.
I'm only 90% kidding

Fuck the shitty ACC and their "top" teams. Routing for my conference hardcore (gotta keep that MNC streak alive) while still secretly hoping that Bama and the Dawgs fall on their face for the bitter tears of the locals here in Atlanta.

God damn does OSU have an easy, shitty schedule. I have a feeling I'm going to be hating OSU as much or more than I ever did USC, because at least USC played one quality team each year. I hate Urban Meyer so much.

That Vandy/Ole Miss game was amazing. I'm loving the new look SEC that will still have 7 top 25 teams at year end.

#TeamJohnnyFootball
#TeamTJYeldonForHeisman (best RB to come through Bama in my lifetime - better than Trent or Shaun - I can't wait to have him on my fantasy team)
#Team3Peat (it doesn't even bother me anymore - gotta respect Satan)
#TeamAuburn8-4 (Believe)
#TeamSEC
#TeamCyan

War Damn Eagle, bitches

It's game time. I'll try not to be a stranger this season.

osu has a better defense and much better offense. unless there's a ton of luck on miss state's side, it should be a blowout

Does anyone else have trouble seeing the actor who plays Cam in Modern Family in other role? I know he's straight, but Cam is such an awesome character that I just can't see him as any one else.

Just awoke from my coma after getting home from East Lansing at 3am. Horrified to learn that offensive "effort" wasn't a bad dream. They've flatlined without Bell and neither Maxwell or Cook seem capable of improving the unit. I'm convinced Maxwell sits down to pee, because I swear he stood by and pointed at the Langford fumble instead of falling on it like any competent football player would do.

But that defense...by gawd.

I really like Pat Fitzgerald. He's either gonna take NW as high as they can possibly go and keep them there, or he's headed to a big-time gig.

I think he sticks around. What he's done there is really impressive.

Best Gameday sign today: "Herp Derpstreet." Apt, too: he said Toledo is going to beat UF. As a Florida fan, this is highly insulting. On the other hand, we suck it up in season openers. Good luck to everyone today.

Okay, and time for a conspiracy theory: ESPN mics SEC games differently. No way is Ohio Stadium this fucking quiet. No way Vandy crowd is four times as loud as OSU. Mowins' voice is five times as loud as the crowd. Bullshit. I can't watch this game.

The Vandy game was an SEC game. Ohio State is playing fucking Buffalo.

Hey, fellow Gators fans. Why the hell is Driskell starting? Did Brissett transfer or something? I know I spent most of last year cursing Driskell's name, and I'd rather not do that again this year, so I just gotta ask. This guy has not shown the ability to play the QB position in his first 2 seasons. What's so different this year? Did someone take the blinders off him, because he had a severe case of tunnel vision.

Or he was just a good college QB.

This.

Tebow was simply an excellent fit for the college game. Big enough compared to the competition that he could run with power, fast enough he could extend plays and with enough passing touch to hit his excellent receivers in stride. In the NFL, he was not big enough to run with power, not fast enough to extend plays and apparently can't throw for shit (particularly when pressured).

I always considered him one of the best college players ever. His physical traits made him great, but his leadership vaults him into the elite. In hindsight, he was the cog that made that machine work. PEACE.

I'm half-kidding. But I'm 100% serious the game is mic'd like shit. No atmosphere at all. No fucking way Ohio State's sold-out home opener has "zero atmosphere." The presentation is improperly balanced, imo.

Granted, Vandy had their stadium packed to the brim with a ton of drunks and it was the SEC opener, it was actually that loud. Ohio State on the other hand is playing Buffalo, which speaks for itself. By the time Ohio State plays a team worth getting loud over, it will be plenty loud enough haha (not talking trash by the way, I have no room to)

EDIT: Nevermind, thought you were completely serious, ignore this post :p
