I was watching the USC-UNC game from the gym on my ipad while my kid has basketball practice, but did anyone comment on Gene Chizik being at UNC? Is this something everyone but me knew?

He got fired from Arby's and settled.

I didn't know it either but was pleasantly surprised.

I read that yesterday, there was an article on ESPN about it.

It got mentioned in the broadcast but not here. I saw him and had to do a double take.

Pretty shocked to hear that during the game as well.

Yeah, Fox's player is terrible. Missed everything after the clock hit 22 seconds. Apparently a couple passes were attempted. No idea how they ended, other than Utah apparently didn't score.

I forgot you're not in NC any more. It was pretty big news at the time, I think he was hired in ....March maybe? Anyway, he doesn't have a lot of talented defensive players but you can fix a lot by just giving them a scheme they can manage. Despite that big run, they looked alright.

Golden Domers are chickenshit!!

Yeah, the definitely looked improved. Chizik was a horrible head coach, but was a very good coordinator.

Edit: of course I wish for nothing but bad things for UNC, so I hope he fails, but still. He's a good DC.

He was really good for us at Texas... We had a lot of great defensive coordinators that turned out to be bad HCs.

I kinda feel bad for Minnesota fans, they are the only very large campus that can't seem to put together a good team at least once every 5 years.

Doesn't matter if the TCU player had possession or not, does it? Fumble into the end zone that goes out of bounds is an automatic touchback for the defense, I think. Pretty sure I remember seeing a team (Houston?) lose a late season game that way last season when a guy dove for the end zone, fumbled on the one, and gave possession to the other team.

Nope, wouldn't have mattered. Not a big fan of that rule, honestly. Anywhere else on the field, a fumble out of bounds stays with the offense. Just give them the ball back at the point of the fumble.

Comical score of the day:
4:00 left in the 3rd
Vandy - 3
Western Kentucky - 0

------edit-------

Oh, that UCF score.

I know that feel when #13 ASU lost to UNLV the 3rd game of the season in 2008.

-These Viagra ads get less and less subtle every year

-TCU looks sloppy on offense. Defense is smothering MIN offense, though

The last two minutes of the UCF games was probably some of the most atrocious play calling in college football. I expect that out of FCS schools but not the FBS.

How do you throw so many chunk plays for 5-6 yards within the last 4 minutes and then just give up. Not only did you give up but you ran the ball three times where the O-line was terrible all night and then bet it all on a freshmen FG kicker? Can't wait to get curb stomped by Stanford.

P.S. I also can't wait for the Brent Key era.... Not.

A wild citronaut appears!

TD! Offense is waking up a bit, but the defense has been the story so far. Cutcliffe is still doing that redzone QB switching shit that everyone hates. It worked one ONE year, because both QBs were read option threats.
