Hey, I gave you a disclaimer. It was just too bizarre of a website to not post it.

The big harlem shake vid from UT is probably coming monday night ( they are filming it monday afternoon ). Some student already filmed one in the PCL library a couple days ago. They should have stopped with this one, by Monday the Harlem Shake fad will be way over played and annoying. Many would argue the fad has already eclipsed that point.

Why would they need to when they have the MAC?

Mac teams cost a significant amount more to bring in than an FCS team for a home game. The buy in price has dropped and with the rumor of going to 9 games at min (I think 10 has a good shot if there's a lot of neutral site games to make up for the UM/OSU/PSU losing a home game), makes this more feasible.

edit.

I think Delany's ultimate goal is to drop playing MAC games as well, and every team to have say 10 conf games home/home with a Pac Team and a Sec Team. He really wants to split off from the have nots of football.

New co-worker, and sadly officemate, is an ND grad, CFB-GAF. One of the owners here is a Bama grad, so he' been trolling him a good amount so far.

News out of the board of directors meetings at UGA yesterday.. Richt got a raise from 2.8 million to 3.2 million and an extension through 2017.

Richt is now tied for fourth among SEC head coaches in annual salary. He has the same basic pay rate as new Arkansas head coach Bret Beilema [sic], and is behind the three current SEC coaches who have won national championships: Alabama’s Nick Saban ($5.3 million), LSU’s Les Miles ($3.75 million) and South Carolina’s Steve Spurrier ($3.55 million).

Jeff Schultz from the AJC (hardly a supporter or Richt or UGA) chimed in:

Richt deserved both.

There are still critics. There always will be critics. They will point to soft scheduling and the fact the Dogs haven’t won an SEC title since 2005.

But praise for Richt is justified. Amid recruiting mistakes, amid going 6-7 in 2010 and starting 0-2 in 2011, amid being 7-10 in SEC games over a two-year-plus span, Richt got players to follow him. He made changes in the program, maybe even in himself, and he galvanized everybody around him.

That’s not easy to accomplish anywhere in college football, let alone the SEC.

Also, the student ticket allotment dropped from 18k to 16k, those 2k will be going towards new alumni: graduates within past 5 years. There will be no minimum donation to the Hartman Fund for those 2k tickets. This change was needed as students have increasingly not been showing up to games in recent years, and it's better to have people in the stadium than not, obviously. While students had been buying all the 18k tickets for every game, an average of only 11,800 were showing up, and the peak was Auburn in 2011 at 15,450.

Dumb students don't realize how awesome it is to get cheap tickets until they graduate and are suddenly at the back of the line and have to contribute insane amounts of money to get season tickets.

Both are hilariously overpaid. Bielema hasn't done anything yet to deserve making that much money. Arky better hope they don't end up in the same situation that Tennessee is in now.

We got our ROI on the Petrino investment:

ESPN Article said:
Football revenue overall rose by 54 percent during Petrino’s first three years, to $61.1 million. Auburn, which won a national title during that time period, saw a 30 percent increase. LSU’s revenue growth came in at 13 percent to $69.1 million.

So the other day Petrino made mention of how WKU facilities are better than what he had at Arkansas, and Fat Face Bielema said Arky's are better than Wiscy's.

How bad are Wisconin's?

Bama's gonna Bama.

2 of 4 were Bama, true. Other's were the typical West powerhouses, Auburn and LSU.

I would think Wisconsin's are pretty bad, Alvarez seems like a cheapass. Wonder if Urban will discuss that with the coaches as well. That's above his paygrade though, the AD's will have to talk about those things.

So picture a high school with a lot of tradition, big athletic budget, and really good facilities. Now picture their cross town rival in the poor section of town that suffers through a dismal athletic budget and the facilities reflect that reality. Now imagine the shit facilities of the middle school feeding into the crappy high school. That's Wisconsin.

Only kind of joking. In the Big Ten Wisconsin is generally considered to have some of the worst facilities. Here's the first thing I came upon when trying to provide some proof.

Honestly a bit surprised to see Ohio State above Nebraska as Nebraska is generally considered to have some of the best facilities in the nation. Would love to see more of the Ohio State facilities.

Haha 7 team basketball league getting double the tv money versus an all sports league. Fucking insulting and disgusting.

There is no logic there except bullshit.

That's what happens when you play little boy athletics.

No one wants to pay for UCF. Seton Hall-Depaul B-ball is worth more.

For comparison's sake, ESPN ranked the SEC as well. Bama is probably further in front after their football field sized workout facility was completed. Top 5 were Bama, LSU, Tennessee, Georgia and Auburn. Arkansas came in at #7. So probably significantly better than Wisconsin. WKU must have awesome facilities. Or Petrino was just blowing smoke up their fanbase's ass, I'd bet on that.

Clearly....

It's very clear to me.

I, and 99.99% of the population would rather watch big boy basketball between the likes of Seton Hall and Depaul over UCF.

Seton Hall & Depaul are storied basketball programs with rich tradition. They have been big boy teams for a long time.

UCF on the other hand, is a mid-major jumping from one mid-major to the next.

Seton Hall & Depaul simply have superior product. It's a product that was developed over playing on the biggest of stages for many years. That's the type of MARKET POWER that UCF lacks.

The Woody Hayes Athletic Facility is really an amazing thing to see. Im not sure if UNL has an indoor field, but part of the WHAC is a full sized indoor football field, not to mention a giant weight room.

There should be a few videos of it on youtube.

At this point, it's safe to assume that Ohio State is the best in the B1G at pretty much every football-related category.

Yeah, that sounds pretty arrogant, but it's the truth and we all know it.

I think it is more the fact they had the most perfect timing imaginable. Fox didn't need more football inventory and really needed winter content. C7 splitting away gave them the perfect opportunity to fill that void without having to pick up another all-sports league. I'd also say they're carried by Marquette, Nova and Georgetown versus the teams you mentioned. ESPN obviously doesn't need content and NBC had nothing to bid for like the BE was hoping/expecting.

Depaul has sucked since the CUSA days and Seton Hall -- I don't even know much about them.

What I do know is that it is BULLSHIT that even despite their history in basketball, they're worth double as a non-football league versus an all-sports league - even a weakened BE.

Edit: And LOL, yeah that is $20 million for all teams. So like 2-3 million per team per year.

So less than $2 million per school (11 schools, maybe 12), per year. :jnc Have they been kicked out as a BCS automatic qualifier yet? That's a joke.

Well yes, the BE has. Starting in 2014. 2013, the BE is still under the old contract. Which is still a shitty 6 million or whatever. A lot of people have made sure the BE is no longer a viable AQ conference. From the BE leadership itself over the years to certain TV networks and other conferences. This is the deathblow that actually makes it final after all of this time!

Football Rules Committee recommends ejection for targeting defenseless players

he NCAA Football Rules Committee took steps to further protect student-athletes by proposing a rule to eject players who target and contact defenseless players above the shoulders.

The committee, which met Monday-Wednesday, unanimously voted to increase the on-field penalty for targeting. The penalty, if approved by the Playing Rules Oversight Panel, will be a 15-yard penalty and automatic ejection of the player. The Panel meets on March 6 to review the proposals and membership comment.

“Student-athlete safety will always be one of our primary concerns,” said Troy Calhoun, chair of the committee and head coach at the United States Air Force Academy. “We all have a role to embrace when making a positive impact on our game. Taking measures to remove targeting, or above the shoulder hits on defenseless players, will improve our great sport.”

The action by the committee continues a progression to address dangerous contact through its rules. Targeting, which was initially approved by the committee as a separate foul in 2008, has been generally successful in terms of officiating application, which made the committee feel comfortable in adding to the penalty.

“The general consensus is that the officials on the field make this call properly the vast majority of the time and know what the committee is looking for with this foul,” said Rogers Redding, secretary-editor of the rules committee and national coordinator of officials for College Football Officiating, LLC. “This move is being made to directly change player behavior and impact player safety.”

The proposed rule will mirror the penalty for fighting. If the foul occurs in the first half of a game, the player is ejected for the remainder of the game. If the foul occurs in the second half or overtime of a game, the player is ejected for the remainder of the game and the first half of the next contest.

The committee has also decided, in an effort to address concerns when one of these plays is erroneously called, to make the ejection portion of the penalty reviewable through video replay. The replay official must have conclusive evidence that a player should not be ejected to overturn the call on the field. Additionally, a post-game conference review remains part of the rule and conferences always have the ability to add to a sanction.

Another area the committee has discussed in recent years deals with blocking below the waist. The past two years, the committee has adjusted rules governing these blocks in an attempt to remove some potentially dangerous plays from the game. The result has been a confusing and uneven rule that has not had the intended impact.

The proposed rule will focus on the block itself and allow these blocks in typical line play.

“What we’re trying to do is write the rule to protect the player that will need to take on this block,” said Calhoun. “So, the blocks from the front of this type in your typical line play are legal and anything that is from the side or back are not.”

Previously, the position of the player at the snap changed whether or not the player could block below the waist legally.

“This rule was hard to teach to officials, hard to teach to coaches and really difficult to understand overall,” said Redding. “That obviously wasn’t the intent and we believe our new proposal will clear up a lot of confusion and keep the positive safety elements of the rule in place.”

The committee also made several other proposals to improve the game. The committee proposed:

To add a 10-second runoff with less than a minute remaining in either half when the sole reason for the clock to stop is an injury.
To establish three seconds as the minimum amount of time required to be on the game clock in order to spike the ball to stop the clock. If one or two seconds remain on the clock, there is only time for the offense to run one more play.
To require a player that changes numbers during the game to report this to the referee, who will announce this.
To only allow one player number to be worn by the same team and participate at the same position (e.g., two quarterbacks on the same team are not allowed to have the same number).
To require teams to have either their jersey or pants contrast in color to the playing field.
To allow the use of electronic communication by the on-field officiating crew after successful experimentation by the Southeastern Conference. This is not a required piece of equipment but will allow officiating crews to use this tool.
To allow the Big 12 Conference to experiment with using an eighth official on the field in conference games. This official would be placed in the backfield opposite the referee.
To allow instant replay to adjust the clock at the end of each quarter. Previously this provision was only in place for the end of each half.

Im not sure if UNL has an indoor field
Hawks Championship Center. It's a full size indoor field with the same turf used in Memorial stadium in addition to the two full size outdoor practice fields. There's also an indoor baseball practice facility, indoor sand volleyball facilities, in addition to the indoor hydraulic banked track facilities. I think the hydraulic banked facility is only one of a handful of it's type in the world. Nebraska pretty much has to have indoor facilities to compete because of inclement weather.

a giant weight room.

Oh?

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln weight room is the largest in the country. It covers three-fourths of an acre

30,000 square feet. I remain unimpressed.

On another note after looking at your facilites they're definitely top notch. Just felt like ribbing ya a bit on the weight room part. Definitely some beautiful facilities though.
