And we have good reason to be pissed if ND cons their way into a BCS game again this year. Even when they were competitive in the USC games a few years back, they still got flying-destroy-fucked in their bowl games. I don't see this team even being as good as those were.

Oh, I don't disagree, but I look at their schedule, and I just don't see how they manage to not get nine or ten wins out of that schedule, which we all know will be enough to get them in over a second Pac-10, Big 12, or SEC team. How they managed to get so much power is beyond me.

Do you mean Kevin Sumlin? This is his second year at Houston. He was the Offensive Coordinator for Oklahoma for 5 years. Cougars are now getting a higher level of recruit with him as head coach. He is actually getting good defensive players now as well. I think he is the key to getting an average team into a good team. But I think he will be at Houston for 5 years and then get a bigger job. If he can turn the Cougars into a conference powerhouse, he deserves it.

I have season tickets to the Cougars and it I saw a difference in team preperation and expectations the coaches had from the players. That is a good thing.
I'm definitely nervous about the UofH game in Stillwater this year... Even if we beat Georgia, we'd better not hang out hats on that win, or we could definitely get into a shootout against UH (or even Rice, potentially).

UH is one of those places that needs a coach who's a proud alum (like Gundy @ OSU), because that's the only way you'll build a tradition and consistently win.
That and hundreds of millions of dollars from Boone Pickens.

WOOT WOOT

I don't know. Do they have a Javon Ringer replacement? He was a beast last year.

Big Ten Nework has gotten me into the conference.

Living in Michigan, it's funny because I like to see Michigan do well (unless they're playing Michigan State), but when they lose it's almost as good to see the arrogant, bitter Michigan fan rationalize how they lost. Yet this year, there are so many alum and jerk-off Michigan fans who hate Rich Rodriguez and want him the fuck out of Ann Arbor that I am now cheering more than ever for them just to stick it to those "fans" who were perfectly happy to go 8-3 or 9-2 every year and play in the Capital One Bowl.

UH is really fighting a battle with having a NFL team in the city. They really should have made some hay when the Oilers left town. But instead they sucked ass all those years and now the local football fans are really into the Texans and high school ball. Also having an older stadium really hurts. But the stadium is supposedly getting a facelift soon. Even if we only get 20k a game, I will be there!!!! The Texas Tech game this year is going to be crazy. I am sure we will have 32k in the house for that ESPN game. I give UH a very good chance to win that one.

The rich alums give money, but to the f'n educational buildings. Who cares about smarts!!!! But seriously, the campus looks incredible from where it was just 10 years ago. The stadium is about the last thing on the list for a makeover.

I have a friend living up in Detroit. I went to visit last year before the season started and her UM alum dad was talking a bunch of noise. Talking about how it was time for Lloyd to go and the game passed him by. Talking how Rich was going to bring pride back to Ann Arbor. Fast Forward to now, he wants then to back the truck up to Les Miles' house, lol.

I just saw UM fans as totally arrogant and felt like they were entitled to everything. I know it killed her dad and other fans to see State in a big bowl last season.

I've had a soft spot for UH ever since the Liberty Bowl game against South Carolina, which was one of the most entertaining Gamecock football games I've ever watched. 41 total points between the teams in the second quarter... :lol

Oh yeah, and my favorite down-and-distance ever: 4th and goal from the 50.

I was at the OSU-UH game two years ago, and they had a great atmosphere (we lost that game actually, Kolb was still QB and Bobby Reid sucked). That Cougar growl drove me up a wall, though. :lol

Not only are the Cougs contending with the NFL and high school ball, their recruiting gets plundered by Texas, TAMU, OSU, OU, and Tech, and UH usually gets the leftovers. There's a reason the only decent smaller schools (Boise State, Utah, BYU, and TCU) are in relatively isolated areas where they're the biggest things going.

Oh, we suck but at least we know it. You guys still think you have a shot. But don't worry, we'll help you remember what year it is.:D
I feel pretty confident about the team this year despite our depth on the Dline being pretty suspect. Super talented Oline with absurd depth at the RB position and Ponder has looked infinitely better passing during the offseason.

I think we'll handle Miami easily but most people will ignore it because they don't expect much out of UM. I guess we'll just have to wait and see -- the schedule as a whole is rather brutal.

Had something to do with Sales. I think Wii Sports or something on the DS. Seemed innocent enough, but one of the "mod's" well, just didn't like the tone, or something.

Oh, it's more than just "again" He's gone forever.

I was at that game! That Cougar growl is like the worst quality .wav file they could find.
If this year's recruiting is any indication, the future is bright for the Cougars.

Next season we start a home and home with UCLA, play Mississippi State and in 2011 we play LSU.

I have a lot of respect for UH and their growth over the last couple years. They are in a really tough spot considering Houston has an NFL team, and HS football is king in the greater Houston area. Playing HS football in Texas, I saw tons of guys get scholarship offers from UH, but TAMU, Texas, OSU and other larger schools always swooped in and snatched up UH's recruits.

Don't know about that. People on Warchant are freaking out over ESPN pundits picking Miami to win.

More colorful college football news: check out Boise State's official guide for what colors to wear to what games. Wow.

GO GATORS!!

Too bad I can't get the game on TV since I'm in California. At least I get to see how badly BYU gets crushed. I miss Gainesville during football season.

I was referencing the fact that the nation as a whole will automatically assume it's meaningless if we win since UM has been down too.

I need Meatchicken to continue to suck for 3-4 more years so that Texas can pass them for all time wins.

ACC is looking good this year. I'd be surprised to see NC State do pretty good, they won their like last 6 games including their bowl one.

Go (WSU)Cougars! Please win more than 2 games this season :(

I'm going to go ahead and predict that Washington will be the most improved team this year. They will be infinitely better this year than they were last year :P

Hehe.

Well, Les Miles, for one, is way more impressed with them now than he was a few years ago, back when they were just some smart-people school that lay down for USC every year to give them an easy path to the title game.

"The only thing I can tell you is that we're playing Washington and look forward to playing them," Miles said. "I certainly understand the experience that the Pac-10 has had, what a great conference it's been, the success that they've had, so we would expect no less from Washington."

Washington was among the Pac-10 teams — Stanford and UCLA were others — that Miles mockingly referred to as "real juggernauts" while criticizing Southern California's strength of schedule to a pro-LSU gathering in New Orleans in the summer of 2007.

...
"Washington has not had success last year, but that was last year," Miles said. "Really, the truth is they have talent. They had a great recruiting class. Their quarterback is back healthy, and the likelihood is they will be a much-improved Pac-10 team. And we will have to play well and execute to do what we want to do on the West Coast."
"Has not had success?" Bit of an understatement. U Dub was only the second-worst team in the conference last year, and still managed to win no games.

Just want to say go Rutgers.

If they can beat Cincinnati on Labor Day and with the schedule they have. They should be
playing West Virginia for the conference title on Dec 5.

And i know one man ready for Labor Day.

Hopefully but it's not in the plans yet. I've got tickets to two Vikes games but so far no Gopher games.

A Rotowire source is saying that Zac Robinson might not play against Georgia due to an undisclosed injury...What the hell is with all these OSU injuries? Bad timing...
If this is true (I've heard the same rumors on local sports radio), that is the most fucking depressing thing ever. There have also been rumors about Andre Sexton (starting outside LB) being hurt, too. Who knows what's true, I expect it to be addressed by tomorrow.

If true, we go from 6 point favorites to 6 point underdogs, most likely. Several betting sites have taken the UGA-OSU game off the boards, apparently. Our backups are completely untested, although Alex Cate brings some of the same dual-threat ability to the position.

EDIT:
The Tulsa World said:
Oklahoma State sources confirm that quarterback Zac Robinson is healthy and will start in Saturday's season-opening showdown matching the ninth-ranked Cowboys and 13th-ranked Georgia in Stillwater.

On Wednesday, the Internet rumor mill indicated that Robinson had re-injured his hamstring and could be sidelined for the Georgia contest.

Any such report is "completely, absolutely false," an OSU source said. On Monday, Robinson said he would be "100 percent ready" for the opener.
That makes me feel better, but I won't be happy until I see #11 on the field on Saturday in Stillwater.

While it's really doubtful he will play, Bama's Brandon Deaderick, who was shot in the arm a couple days ago in an attempted robbery, was back and practice and participating. Sure, in Black (No Contact) jersesy, but yeah, coming back from being SHOT, is some TOUGH HOMBRE shit.

Sounds like Julio and Ingram are cleared to play.

Shit gets turned around this year, the process started last year and keeps going. All hail David Cutcliffe! BELIEVE!
