College Football Week 14 - Last Chance (For Chaos)

Don't know what this means. Does it mean people are betting for OU to win or lose?

Oklahoma is favored to win by at least 2.5 points according to Vegas. Where the line moves from here will give an indicator on what side people are placing bets.

All signs seem to be pointing towards us playing LSU in Houston.

A&M likely to get away with dodging a Big XII team from Texas in a bowl game once again.

My brother is a Bama alum so I did not speak to him until a week after that massacre. We're in a much different place as a team now, so not worried about a blowout.

What I remember most from that game was Bama just abusing us on the line of scrimmage and Ingram running like a bull. This year should hopefully be different. MSU linemen are looking strong on both sides of the ball. Containing Henry will be the biggest challenge.

Can't wait!

You are all surprised that Rutgers made a better hire than South Carolina.

You should not be.

Our AD is peerless, world class, and a brilliant strategist. Our coach is the hottest rising star in all of college football.

He hired a DC who won't be here full time for over a month.

If Texas gets to forever blackball any A&M-UT bowl, it's only fair that A&M can blackball any A&M-Texas school bowl

@AnthonyDasher1: Kirby Smart's contract with Georgia is a six-year deal at $3,750,000 per year, per UGA officials.

.

The bonus structure seems pretty aggressive. Heavily incentivized to win SEC and postseason games such as playoffs or national championship.

If that leaked playoff ranking is accurate then I like it. I think MSU is the team Bama has the best shot at of the bunch. Followed by Clemson, then OU (who I think has the best shot at winning it all).

Texas doesn't recruit on a platform of "we run this state" and then not play a single Texas team from any level like A&M does.

Plus, Texas would have loved to play A&M last season. If A&M ends up playing Louisville this season as everybody expects, this would be the second year in a row that they/the SEC could have easily set up a bowl game against a Texas team and bailed.

If that is true then I will gladly eat my words. But I have not heard A&M back off "any time any where" or Texas show any interest in reviving the rivalry

Articles and rumors and whatever about who is dodging who aside, the SEC controls their own bowl matchups; if Texas A&M wanted to play Texas then Texas wouldn't have played Arkansas last year in a bowl game.

A&M plays Prairie View A&M and UTSA in 2016, no Texas teams in 2017 and 2018, and then UTSA and Rice in 2019. Texas and A&M may be doing some petty game of dodging an annual series but I guarantee Tech, Baylor, and TCU would be perfectly fine with getting something scheduled. Our AD has been on record for a few years now that he'd like to renew the rivalry.

I got grudge sucked!
I assume they want a Bama/OU championship game more than anything, just for brand recognition and ratings.

And I know the Pinstripe bowl hasn't been around long, but whatever passing records they currently have will be thoroughly destroyed when IU styles on our shit tier defense.

Don't they usually announce the rankings on Tuesday? I don't pay any attention to ESPN outside of actual games, so I had no idea they were going to be out this soon. That and the post I saw in this thread called it a leak.

So apparently in the same play with the terrible offsides call, UNC should've also been called for targeting.

LMAO guess we can put that one to rest

edit: huh I guess Oklahoma State does get priority for some reason?

New Year's Six games getting announced:

Iowa/Stanford in the Rose Bowl
Oklahoma State/Ole Miss in the Sugar Bowl
Notre Dame/Ohio State in the Fiesta Bowl
Houston/Florida State in the Peach Bowl

Good on the committee for keeping Iowa above Ohio State. I don't like it when teams get dropped under an inactive team for having to play an extra game, even when they do well (like Georgia and Florida a few years back). Hawkeyes get to smell the roses.

Bowls need maximum time to make their deals

I can live with facing Notre Dame instead. We been to the fiesta way too many times but any chance to beat the fuck out of Notre Dame is a welcome chance.

Here's the top 10:

1. Clemson
2. Alabama
3. Michigan State
4. Oklahoma
5. Iowa
6. Stanford
7. Ohio State
8. Notre Dame
9. Florida State
10. North Carolina

Are they really telling us that if Clemson or Alabama had lost, that Iowa would have made into the CFP ahead of Stanford? This is ridiculous. That would also mean that if Clemson had lost last night it also would have stayed above Stanford. I can't read it any other way.

I guess Conference championships don't mean as much as we were told they would. It's also insane to me that if you look at Iowa and Stanford's resume this year that you would put Iowa ahead of them. With Iowa's weak schedule.

Here's hoping Iowa is in the Rose Bowl.

I thought the buckeyes would be the sexier pick for the rose bowl against Stamford, but I'll gladly watch us beat up on ND.

Iowa/Stamford is a pretty good matchup I think. Houston beating Fl St will bring delicious tears too.

I thought this was too interesting a situation to leave as the last comment on the other page.

The B1G would have 3 teams in the playoffs if it was an 8 team playoff. Just imagine the whining, had that happened.

Perfect counterargument to use at some people when they suggest an 8 team playoff if they aren't fans of any B1G teams.

Whoa, I had the exact opposite reaction. I figured MSU had a great shot at Clemson, while Bama will be much tougher. I expect Oklahoma to fold immediately for Clemson.

I had the same reaction as you Cyan. I figure Clemson would of been an easier opponent for MSU. Regardless, I think MSU has a great chance against Alabama particularly with the rest they get until the game and the strength of the team to play till the end. MSU has a far better offence than Alabama and should match up well on defense. Either team probably has an equal chance to beat the other any given day so it's going to be who shows the most heart in the end I think.

Just shows that losing close in an extra game you earned the right to play in doesn't hurt your ranking that much. UNC didn't move, Iowa/UF fell only 1 spot. USC did drop 5 but that was their 5th loss and 2nd to Stanford, plus it wasn't that close.

I look forward to OSU playing ND. I can't believe ND/OSU is in the early timeslot though.

That's assuming that they would have kept the rankings the same if we had an 8 team playoff, which I don't believe is a particularly safe assumption.
