I haven't read Thunderbolts since Busiek..I sorta want to go back and catch up.

So I've been thinking about how long it will be before Schism goes away. Any takers on that AvX does the trick or is that too soon?
They should have retitled X-Men Legacy back to X-Men and made that the banner title for team Wolverine. Carey was leaving and they could have just handed the reigns over to Aaron. Also it would have been a great excuse to axe that turd series X-Men on team Cyclops.I really, really, really hope that isn't the case. As it is I think it's already too soon to have to this AvX crap interrupting the events of Schism. We haven't even had time to establish a status quo yet. WatXM has been a revelation for the X-Men comics and I don't want to see that book axed and have to go back to the constant doom and gloom that is the rest of all the X-books.
I haven't been reading comics long enough to even speculate on what Marvel is capable of in regards to this, but they better leave WatX alone, damn it.

What does he mean by "Goes Away" one team will go back to where the other one is stationed?
Not enough LOLs on Earth.
They won't leave the teams split up forever. Obviously they will put the Jean Grey school on a wide load trailer and move it to Utopia which they will move to Chicago and float it in Lake Michigan.
None of those events were meant to divide the fanbase (literally) or create new series. You can still follow both teams but you have to buy more comics. How long will that last?"They won't let mutants be extinct forever."
What, 10 years later now?
"They won't let Jean Grey be dead forever."
What, 10 years later now?
"They won't let Peter Parker be split up from Mary Jane Watson forever."
What, 10 years later now?
And cetera....

I believe all three of those things have very big changes of being reversed this year.
and MJ/Peter split wasn't THAT long ago, although it has been about 8 years worth of ASM since OMD
Right, YEARS after the fact. The Jean Grey school opened like LAST MONTH.
You'll get there...Since TTOB yelled at me about not reading old comics, I ignored all his recommendations but still picked up the Uncanny X-Men Marvel Masterworks Volume 1 so now I'm reading old ass X-Mans. Kinda shocked at how readable they are. In my endless naivete I was expecting poor art and for them to be overly wordy and exposition filled. While decidedly old-fashioned, it has been a brisk, fun read so far. I'm just gonna go ahead and just snatch up the lot of these.
Magneto is pretty ripped for a 70-something year old Holocaust survivor.
With Season One, Marvel is finally making an effort to tell readers very clearly, "this is where you start." I don't think it was the bookstore market that pushed the publisher to address this problem; I think it was digital.
Season One feels like a successful solution. It offers a fresh yet consistent origin story, and new readers can leap from here to any point in the FF's history and know they have a solid grounding. Season One actually comes with the first issue of Jonathan Hickman's FF at the back, and while it's clear that Hickman's story is set several years and two children later, it feels like a consistent world. (The FF benefits from an especially robust status quo, so that helps make the transition seamless. I'm not sure that other Season One trades will offer such smooth continuity. There's a lot of ground to cover between X-Men: Season One and X-Men: Schism, and if you pick up Ant-Man: Season One, where are you meant to go next?)
Old readers who are familiar with 50 years of Fantastic Four continuity may not get much out of Season One, but it really isn't meant for them, and Season One succeeds because it makes it much easier for new readers to catch up with dinosaurs like you and me. It also gives me a book that I feel I can send my nephews in order to get them hooked on superheroes, which is something Marvel has never really offered me before.
The challenge now is for Marvel to hold on to the value it has created here. That means keeping the book in print (because digital copies make bad gifts) and not creating any sequels. If Marvel commissions Fantastic Four: Season Two, it will repeat the mistakes of the Ultimate line by creating yet another parallel continuity. Season Two should be every existing Fantastic Four comic that isn't Season One.

So is anyone going to be checking out 'Fantastic Four: Season One' tomorrow? Reviews are beginning to filter out.
So I'm reading the X-Men: Messiah Complex hardcover, and good lord the art in New X-Men at the time was awful. It's so jarring to go from the other books to the cartoony New X-Men art.
Fucking Ramos. Don't ever let anyone try to convince you that he does good work.
There was a lot of bad art in that whole series I felt. I think a lot of it had to do with the monochromatic/muted color scheme in most books. That combined with the cartoony, busy art made for total junk pages. Try and count how many characters there even are in this panel.

Remember, he was de-aged then re-aged at one point.Magneto is pretty ripped for a 70-something year old Holocaust survivor.

I can't fucking tell. A dozen? Maybe more?
e: also

In Jim Lee world, even the geriatrics are buff as fuck and have perfect jawline matched with sexy stubble.
Eventually I 'll collect the entire line but I don't have time to read monthly comics right now.
what the hell is going on in that shot?
A bunch of X-Men are attacking the Marauders(? the group with Mr Sinister in this era) on Muir Island. Lord only knows how many characters are actually supposed to be portrayed.
-edit-
Ok, finished and it was a good read. What do I need to read to find out what happened to Layla and the other Madrox dupe in 2nd alternate future?
You'll get there...
Ah Xmen #1 , aka the blue team, loved that issue , such a nose dive till Adam came in and we went to tha mojoverse.
Best part are those baller, 90s costumes. Those are MY X-Men. That's what I grew up reading. As much as I'm thankful to finally be reading the old 70s stuff and getting a taste of the roots of my favorite comic team, I still long for those cheesy, old, 90s designs.
Too bad Jim Lee went back to yellow Wolverine in issue 4
Fun story about that. Jim Lee always wanted to put Wolverine back in the yellow outfit, because OMG NOSTALGIA, and once he got creative control after booting that one hack who spearheaded the book 17 years, he did it! He called up John Byrne about, all happy, saying he was so happy to finally see that ugly boring tan costume is gone. John Byrne was like, "Uh, you know I made that tan costume, right?"
Awkward silence.
Speaking of leaving to form Image. . .
And if I'm not mistaken he draws digital now, so there's no reason the proportions should be this fucked up, but it's Todd McFarlane and he's never been a fan of accurate proportions.
It's not a monthly it's trade only like DC's Earth One line
quoting so i can see
god i hate 90s art styles
Bob Harras loved the artists so much, who knew they would lead him into the promise land for years to come.
And then less then a year after Claremont was booted, all the golden boy artists left to form Image Comics.
WHOOPS! Look like somebody put their bets on the wrong race horse! Good thing they had Lobdell and Nicenza to do over melodramatic Claremont impersonations and annual crossovers!
yeah but i think Jim Lee's art style is bad too
I know these are just images, but he should be able to make the characters come to life and move around the panels. Everybody looks like they're standing still. Everybody has the same body type. There's always these useless hatching lines everywhere that don't communicate anything to me except confusion.
I give Quitely shit, but he knows how to use a character's body language to an advantage instead of letting speech bubbles say it all for him. I don't get that with Jim Lee.
