Just watched the Green Lantern movie. Not as awful as everyone made it out to be. It got me thinking though, if I could be any superhero it would probably be a Green Lantern. They just have the coolest superpower I think. Being able to will anything you want into existence? Fuck yeah man.

Edit: You guys weren't kidding, Waid's Daredevil run is brilliant. I wasn't even interested in the character before reading his stuff, but man I think he's one of the most interesting, complex characters out there. I'll have to look up some other stuff written by Waid.

Just finished reading V for Vendetta, the movie really turned me off so it took a while.

Great book. Moore is amazing. I am going to read his Swamp Thing run next, he has to be one of my favorite writers, probably second to Gaiman.

I've always considered the GLs to be Space Cops more than Superheroes, it's why the movie didn't sit right with me. If it had been more exploring the universe with Sinestro I think it would have been much better.

In other news, randomly picked up "Iron Man: Enter the Mandarin", and its awesomeness. Eric Canete has some of the most kinetic storytelling I've ever seen.

The impact of the attacks, the focus and shorthand of Iron Man's body before his fist takes off, the way he frames the body positions to exaggerate the FUCK out of the blows, sooo good.

Shit, need to get that. Canete is a master.

Gorramn this is gonna be a rough week on my wallet. Marvel and DC both have a ton of stuff I wanna read.

I'm currently downloading the first issue of Irredeemable off Comixology and it strikes me just how utterly stupid the pricing scheme is on this comic. I saw the trade this weekend at my LCS for 25% off and considered getting it, but then I thought it would be cheaper on Amazon. My hunch proved to be correct, as it was $9.99. Before purchasing I decided to check out how many issues are collected per trade. The answer was 3-4. So then I sat back and thought about it for all of 2 seconds. I can get 4 issues for $10 + tax, or each issue for $1.99 flat off Comixology.

...seriously? Who's making these business decisions? Please fire whoever he is and hire someone not mathematically impaired.

Yeah... A number of the volumes work on their own, but it's best read it in order. Just remember that the first volume is where the book is still finding its footing.

Brahs comics are the most beautiful and amazing thing ever. Not a day goes buy that I don't find something new and exciting. If I never make love, comics will fill that void. If they wanted a real comic book Pawn Stars they should have brought in the most socially awkward guys and have them negotiate. If I wanted to see socially akward forty year old men I would show up to my LCS on Wednesday ( a.m when the cool people get comics) wearing a Rush T-shirt. While they ponder the intricacies of Dave Navarro's thoughts on the latest episode of the walking dead and pick up a sailor moon trade, not for them though, just for their little sister.

I'm pretty much already an unapologetic fan of dumb reality tv anyways, so to have one about comic fandom winds me up nice. I'll keep watching. If I had to criticize I'd say the show seems to suffer from a bit of ADD. I'm definitely more a fan of the antics of the cast than the Pawn Stars aspects. It's almost like it's afraid to just be a show about comic book fandom so they tried to shoehorn aspects of other successful shows in to give it a more broad appeal.

e: and just saying it's nerdy Pawn Stars is reductive and silly. In the entire hour they had what 3, 4 people come in with shit to sell? Much more of the show was them talking about 101 level comic book fandom and picking on the little Asian guy.

On "Night of the Owls," are the crossover issues just going to be different sides to the same story or will you need to read them all in order to not miss anything? So if I only really care about Batman, can I get the full Batman story just from reading the one comic?

Ben Templesmith and Ben McCool. What the hell guys?! I've been waiting for the last issue for about a year / year and half now. Pretty sure I've forgotten what the story was about I just want it to release so I can put it away. I don't like having gaps in my collection. : (

Oh did it never come out? I have all the issues but never read them and when I was closing off my print collection I noticed that I didn't have issue 6 and assumed I had missed it. But they never released? tsk tsk.

Anyone watch Comic Book Men on AMC last night? It was... interesting. Didn't realize it was basically going to be a nerdy version of Pawn Stars but it was just a weird show. Seems like the stereotypical comic shop employees as well. I haven't seen an employee like that in years.

Gonna download it tonight to watch. I love their podcast Tell Em Steve Dave (also featuring Q from Impractical Jokers), so as long as there is a high quotient of ball busting I will be happy.
