The plot thickens.

So I've been getting interested in getting into Punisher, are there any good books to start with? I heard Punisher MAX recently wrapped up but I couldn't find any books online/on Comixology. Is this being published anywhere? Are there some better entry-level stories that I should look into?

This thread is now about Frank Castle.

If you really want to get the absolute Garth Ennis-experience with the Punisher in a somewhat chronological sense, this is my suggestion:

Punisher MAX: Born >> Punisher: Welcome Back, Frank >> Punisher MAX: 1-10

That way, you'll grasp a nice feel what the character is essentially about. And you'll get subjected to a respectable amount of gore, grit and pitch-black comedy :D

Oh and you, who have already read through the whole thing: Slavers, best story arc or best story arc?

Anybody know what the damn hell happened in Wonder Woman 6??? Made absolutely no sense to me as I read it, so I figured I'd go back and skim 5 to see if I missed anything and re-skimmed 6 and I still don't have a god damned clue what's happening. The entire scene at the end with the candle and staff, and WW in a bubble and then throwing the candle at Hera and... what? I have no idea what that entire scene was about. Also why did Hades grab Zola at the end?

I really like the presentation of this book, and I like all the gods feuding in theory but something about the way it's written and/or drawn has just been confusing the shit out of me.

Ok, here's what I figured it was about

The entire plan of the group was to bring Hades/Poseidon together to cause a big enough scene for Hera to leave Olympus. While she was busy dealing with that, WW would teleport to Olympus with the Caduceus staff. Hades' candles obviously have sort of blinding effect, which would explain his character design of it covering up his eyes. So WW throws the candle in the scrying pool, effectively making Hera blind to the movements of Zola. After the shit goes down, Poseidon is amused at the plan while Hades is pissed that he was used in the plan and gets back at them by stealing Zola.

Reading Ultimate Doomsday helps make sense of Hickman's Ultimates

Reading Ultimate Doomsday degrades brain cells and somewhat makes you dislike yourself.

Just read the spoilers on wikipedia or something.

I want my money back for every issue of this I've bought. Also fuck Brian Azzarello.

Placed an order for most of the books I've wanted from the last 6 weeks or so.

* A.D.D.: Adolescent Demo Division
* American Vampire Vol. 3
* Batman: Gates of Gotham
* Batman & Robin: Dark Knight, White Knight
* Blacksad
* Catwoman Vol. 1: Trail of the Catwoman
* The Coffin: 10th Anniversary Edition
* Sweet Tooth Vol. 4: Endangered Species
* Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Volume 1: Change is Constant

That should keep me busy for a while.

My shipment of this was "delivered" earlier in the week but there's no evidence of it anywhere. Now I'm sad and frustrated.

Is this USPS? A lot of times their tracking is just completely wrong. I've had delivered packages come to me a week later and packages that are supposedly two states over on my doorstep.

OnTrac. If I can trust their fancy automated customer service system, they will hunt it down or replace it. We'll see. Never had any significant shipping problems before.

no their vibranium is gone i believe after the mini series with dr doom.
I know, I just don't want to see it happen again. Bullshit like that shouldn't happen with the panther. Id rather see long drawn out plans like when he beat mephisto.

It's been Sandmanesque so far. May not be everyone's idea of WW, but I love it.

From MegaCon in Orlando:

Another fan asked about the Kord Industries and New Gods references in O.M.A.C. to which the panel replied was obviously intentional. There will be future references to these characters and many others. That led us to a young man that asked about Wally West, to which of course I clapped and seconded. Dan and Eddie gave an answer that is going to keep me at bay with nerd rage for a while longer. He said because there were de-aging Barry, they didnt want him to be the same age as Wally. Plus they didnt want to take away Wally’s kids and family or make him a teenager again, especially with Bart already in that role. Dan also pointed out that someone close to him is a big Donna Troy fan, and Donna was given the same treatment when Wonder Woman was made younger in the relaunch. Their answer was that they are simply focusing on establishing the characters they started out with in this new 52, but not saying those other characters don’t exist or aren’t around in some way. They understand that everyone’s character is someone’s favorite. They just ask us Wally and Donna fans to be a bit more patient with them and those characters will be seen once more.

So this isn't technically February comics but I tried out the first issue of Fatale from last month and liked it a lot. Seems to be noir horror - supernatural sexy women, tortured men, and Nazi demons. Very striking artwork, too - I'm not familiar with Incognito etc. but I think this has a similar style? Will pick up the trade when it comes out for sure.

Also tried Thief of Thieves but wasn't so impressed. The first issue doesn't even get as far as the plot synopsis on Image's website. Although the "heist" is executed well the characters left me a little cold; it may only be the first issue I found little personality in the dialogue.

I don't want Donna troy coming back. shes the worst DCU charecter. Completly redundant and unnecessary.

Wally was the Flash for close to 30 years and had a more interesting personality than Barry. He is the Flash everyone knows and wants.

gimme a Donna&Wally Buddycape book somewhere down the line and all will be right with the world :)
Maybe with the new universe she can get better treatment. I wish son of vulcan was important enough to get such treatment....

Once they realize they can get away with it. Still 3 bucks up through issue #12
Wouldn't it have to start selling better first? Just being critically acclaimed as one of their best books shouldn't be enough to get it "upgraded" to four bucks when that would likely mean a dent in its already low monthly sales.

$3.99 comics is probably the thing I loathe the most about getting into comics. Especially when it's for a crapped out issue of UXM with Greg Land on art. I really hate the "It's $4 because we can get away with it" mentality.

Shes not the worst. That honor goes to nite-wing. She just has that peter parker/matt murdock luck without the balance that goes with it.

Incognito is great, more pulpish than noir, but a great read. Go for it. I'm sure you've read Criminal too, if not, get that too

^5. Wally West forever!

It's a shame this is not the 90's anymore.

I just went to see Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance and Idris Elba would make a great 90's Bishop. Just give him that jheri curl mullet and we're good to get down to kicking that princess Gambit's ass like the good old days. ^_^

...jheri curl? kick gambits ass? theres so much wrong with that last sentence it makes my head spin. i refuse to associate bishop with the jheri curl.

It's not Bishop's fault Remy LePwned is a fragile little princess. ^_^

Search your feelings, you know it to be true!

and look at where bishop is now? yeah, i think remy is winning

on a side note, bishop didnt have a jheri curl. thats not what one would look like good sir.

Brother never makes it.

Even in comics.

Marvel spared no effort in ruining his visual design and just making him a shitty character in recent years.

I still need to see Good Hair, but jheri curl is the only way I can wrap my head around Bishop rocking that sweet brother mullet that has no party in the rear because Bishop is all business. >:|

I've always hated Bishop. Him and Cable both, get the fuck out of my X-Men and go back to your crybaby future time.

X-Men movie continuity is so fucked I can't even bring myself to care about it. I've retroactively made myself hate the original movies for making First Class stupid. No superhero film series needs a reboot more.

Don't worry, at least we're getting yet another movie where Magneto is the villain

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I'm not even mad.

We'll never get an expanded X-Men universe on film and First Class was better than all three of the previous X-Movies soooo. . .

That's not a knock against Ian McKellan, but Singer is just shit at superhero movies. Two shitty X-Men movies and one sad wanna-be conjoined to the Donner legacy Superman flick. Just keep Singer away from superheroes okay? He's bad at directing action and the damned things are boring.

Rachael Summers was worse than both of them when it came to crying about the future.

Did they ever reveal who the traitor Bishop was searching for was? I stopped reading before we got the answer.

You're not allowed to hate Bishop during Black History Month. Come back in March mothaf*ckah!

I thought it was the best one too. I'm just tired of Magneto now and he's my favorite X-Men character. He's supposed to be a villain not a supporting character ><. We need someone new.

They did actually, it was Professor X because he turned into Onslaught. It wasn't a terrible resolution considering they were just making everything up as they went at that point.

And in more slightly belated news, I've just finished trade 5 of The Unwritten.

I personally don't feel this is as strong a volume as the previous books. It's a little precious with its meta jokes, and although it has a lot of interesting things to say about how stories shape both events and people in some ways I don't think it really adds anything to the overall story arc. Maybe it's also too "obvious" to do a story arc about comics? I dunno.

Pullman remains something of a caricature of a villain, so I hope we get to see more of Madame Rausche in the future.

I understand that the next few single issues are supplementary rather than following the core storylines, which could be interesting.

They just upped X-Factor's price to $3.99, and that thing has been selling consistently 20-25k for years now. And THEN they double ship it!

WTF! I was just thinking about getting on this book. Way to go, Marvel.

My pull-list for Marvel in May is like...$100+ now. Not including the New X-Men Omnibus reprint

Fuck you Marvel, stop releasing quality titles at 4 dollars!

I think I'm gonna drop Captain America after Alan Davis leaves and save me 4-8 bucks a month, but the May solicts make it sound like Diamondback is finally coming back.

arrrrrgh
