Hahaha, its a pretty thankless world with a million contenders all trying to get ahead and giving their best shit away for free. Of course if I could get a sniff of a publisher, its a route that wouldnt feel like the only one open.

Yup. I mean, it's valuable to me as something that forced me to draw every week for seven years which has now opened up a bunch more opportunities that likely wouldn't have happened if I hadn't evolved stylistically, but webcomic audiences are made up far too much of entitled brats who will never pay for content.

If there's another way to give yourself the discipline of working on your comic on a schedule for several years, do that instead.

I used to say that webcomics could only support the seven or eight creators that were currently surviving just on making webcomics, but then a bunch of even those were finding it hard to make ends meet.

If it makes you feel any better, a publisher wouldn't solve all your problems either. I've been looking at Comixology Submit as a pretty decent outlet. No printing overhead, and even people who devalue the worth of digital comics all out of proportion still believe they're at least worth a dollar.

Which is more than the zero cents too many webcomics readers think your work is worth.

Tons of good books this week (I even loved this issue of Fearless Defenders*), but my book of the week, and I'm as surprised to type this as you are to read it, is Batgirl #19

Taut, intense storytelling, and just about a perfect issue and wrap up to the story of her brother. Gail understands how to write a WTF issue, with heart and drama. I am now back on board, or rather completely invested in this series for the first time.

Damn, woman. Damn.

* hearing the Jimenez news pleases me. Dani Moonstar = goddess.

Batgirl was quite good this month. This was the first issue I've picked up since 13 or so (whenever the DotF nonsense starred), it was nice to come back to Babs and not be mired down in Batbook crossover hell.

It is. I can't say I envisioned the books in this art style but it is better than nothing.

I always envisioned Glotka as a lot like Aidan Gillen's Littlefinger in Game of Thrones. And Logen as butt ugly, and with a fighter's haircut (nothing to grab hold of).
Assuming it's Jezal on the right, only one who looks near my imaginary picture

Probably all killed by minor explosions like BP was
They are seen in the crashed Helicarrier with everyone else in #1, #2 and I think #3 as well but then are never seen again. I flicked through again and they are definitely not with the group that travels to the Savage Land. I'd just put it down to them being Bendis'd.

Is it? Having to avoid something so it doesn't replace the vision in my head for the characters because it's so far off from the book descriptions seems a lot worse than having nothing at all.

Oh gosh, the solicit for FF #10 is just too cute.

FF #10
MATT FRACTION (W) • MICHAEL ALLRED (A/C)
• They’ve handled media mockery, crippling self-doubt, kidnapping, and the greatest fiends the Negative Zone could throw at them -- but can the FF handle... THE SPOOKY KIDS?
• SHIVER! As they write the names of weird bands you’ve never heard of ALL OVER their desktops!
• QUAKE! As they use strange "slang" to hide their true conversations! What are they talking about? Could be... ANYTHING.
• RECOIL! At their monstrous cell phone data plan bills every month. Seriously you have NO IDEA how much these kids use their phones.
• The generation gap has come for the Future Foundation... BREAK OUT THE BLACK NAIL POLISH!
32 PGS./Rated T ...$2.99

Is the Comixology app worth bothering with if you only have an iPhone? I don't do superhero books that don't have the names Kirby, Ditko or Hanks attached to them, but I keep hearing about this Hawkeye thing...

Sentry is coming back :p

Looks like Daken (two claws), Banshee, Sentry and Grim Reaper.

Spoilers from last month's Uncanny Avengers:

Wow, that's gotta be the quickest turnaround ever on Grim Reaper. That dude LITERALLY just died. His blood's not even cold yet.

Banshee's pretty cool, but I'd prefer the rest stay dead. :/

You can still use the web interface to read Comixology stuff, and I'd recommend that over reading on an iPhone any day. The guided view panel mode certainly makes it doable, but Aja's art on Hawkeye deserves being viewed on a larger screen.

Fuck yeah, FF is the grooviest comic around. So happy I dropped Deadpool for it.

Best things ever:

I find it funny that Kate looks like she's wearing some Margiela sneakers. Good call on being fashionable and functional, Katie-Kate.
Wowowowowoweeeee I LOVE those covers.

FUCK THIS EARTH.

I'd put money on him starring in a mini-series/on-going around the time Cap 2 releases. And because I love to play the wish-list casting game...

Written by Dennis Hopeless (dude's killing it on Arena - are people finally coming around to that book being great yet?)

Art by (*surprise pick*) Francesco Francavllla

I wouldn't be surprised to see Captain Marvel, Red She-Hulk, Journey Into Mystery, X-Factor, Gambit, Scarlet Spider, and Venom on the chopping block sooner than later.

Dark Avengers is ending with 190 I believe.

And I would bet that Morbius is the first Marvel NOW title to get cut, unless the upcoming Spider-Man guest-appearances can save it.

I just got my invite to the 700 #1 Marvel promotion. Any suggestions? Ideally I'd add all 700 to my library, but that might take a while on my phone, haha.

Morbius is an absolute abortion and along with Ways Thunderbolts is the worst book on the market. I want to know who thought it was a good idea to have the whole comic be about homeless Morbius, get a sandwich, find some clothes, stumble on a ghetto turf war, be homeless and find some clothes. awful, awful, awful.
