Ohhhh when you said Hulku was smashing Ice giants, I thought you mean Ice Giantesses.

Not actually smashing ice giants... :\

Any crossover that involves Molly from Runaways and the return of Xorn at least has my attention. Even if "Xorn" is just an alternate-future female version.

So, I'm confused. I've followed the storylines via friends who read the books. But why would anyone give a shit about whether the Past X-Men are sent back? Marvel has said time and again that time travel in the Marvel universe creates tangent universes. It has no actual effect on ones current time line. So the X-Men from the past are from an alternate past. So sending them back wouldn't... really... change anything???

Or did they change that rule?

IIRC, that rule was established in the 80s/90s when Mark Gruenwald was executive editor. He's long gone, and Marvel hasn't really stuck to it much in recent years. Brevoort has said that he's not a fan of it and feels that it unfairly limits the possibilities for time-travel storylines.

Yo--I just started in on the X-Statix omnibus a few days ago, and I'm a decent chunk of the way through, and why the fuck is this run almost never mentioned? It's hitting this perfect combination of sincere, fucked up, heartbreaking, late 90s-early 00s nostaliga, and everything that's great about comics.

Also, the Allred and occasional Cooke is seriously impressive.

All of this.

I bought the Omnibus as soon as it came out and loved it. I'll buy pretty much anything with Allred art, anyway.

X-Force 116-129 is perfect.

Also that Cooke U-Go-Girl issue>*

Are there any sites you all use besides Amazon for graphic novels?

Or does Amazon have the best prices usually?

Better prices but the selection isn't as good. Still, I've found most of what I've wanted there.

Yeah, instock is what's up. Better prices and also, better packaging. They make shipping books into a fucking artform, especially for bigger Omnibus/Absolute editions.

Amazon can compete with instocktrades on price. But their shipping and their sister DCBS is superb. It's almost impossible for a book let alone a floppy to be bent. The only downside is when you do a big order they aren't as quick to process as Amazon but still highly recommended.

Dude yes! My X-Statix omnibus was packed so well. Fucking custom foam pieces to make sure the the book doesn't slide around in there. Stupid Amazon just throws the books into a box with one of those air bubble packing things. So shitty.

lolololol. So true. I've never gotten books packaged better than the stuff I order from them. Between the vacuum-foam packs and the plastic bags and tape, and the thick cardboard that the boxes are made of, it's all shipped very securely. I've been using them for a few years and I've never received a box from them with so much as a dent.

Reading the new Previews and Brian Wood's collaborator on Local, Ryan Kelly, is doing art on Star Wars #7. That will be worth a buy.

Also start saving now for the Red Sonja relaunch variant covers.

I just bought The Invisibles Omnibus on the Barnes and Noble website because it wasn't for sale on Amazon or instocktrades. I don't know if I'd recommend it as a first choice, but they do have a really good selection.

Edit: Also, maybe this is a stupid question, but does Darkhorse do regular paperback trades? I'm really tempted to get Mind MGMT Vol 1, but it's hardcover. If there is a cheaper paperback coming out later I'd wait.

Ah, cool. I didn't know about that site, I'll have to check it out.

Thanks.

Yeah, I figured book stores and the Barnes and Noble up the street has a decent selection but most of the stuff is MSRP and I was looking for more of a bargin type place.

Thanks though.

I want the Lying Cat shirt, don't want Lobdell on Superman. Doesn't exactly balance out.

Dark Horse typically picks one format and sticks with it. They don't do staggered releases of hardcovers and paperbacks. It's a pretty safe bet that Mind MGMT won't get a paperback any time soon looking at Dark Horse's track record.

They actually do the opposite far more often, combining multiple paperbacks into a nice hardcover.

Really late to the party with this (well now it's last) week's comics. It wasn't a particularly good week for Uncanny X-Men and Avengers, definitely going to be dropping both of those two soon, though I think I'm going to give Uncanny a little bit more time to come into it's own. (Avengers has no excuse at this point)

New Avengers on the other hand was fantastic as always. Also continued my love/hate relationship with the new Flash series as I actually really enjoyed this issue which is great given how burnt out I was on the recent Gorilla Grodd arc.

...Ehh. I still remember the last time Marvel did "Killable" with Logan. :|

They're heading to that end again?

While Wolverine is my favorite character, I would be okay with him dying. Let him be out of the spot light for a bit and see how the X-Men actually deal with this death now adays.

Haha. Reading the editors columns of the Stephanie Brown Batgirl comics is pretty hilarious in hindsight. "HERE IS WHY WE LOVE STEPHANIE AND MADE HER BATGIRL. DON'T WORRY CASSANDRA FANS WE GOT BIG PLANS FOR HER IN 2010/11".

Oh man. I still don't like the character. But the salt makes a little more sense.

Haha.

It is monday and it is time for lists, because otherwise we'll have to talk about Valiant dicking over Priest and Bright on Quantum and Woody and that would be a bummer, but also we need to talk about this but before that LISTS.

-Detective Comics #20
-Dial H #12
-Earth-2 #12
-Green Arrow #20

-Stormwatch #20
-Swamp Thing #20
-Age of Ultron #7
-All New X-Men #11

Read some of the 2012 Valiant titles and I dug them. Then again I've always had a soft spot for Valiant. Always. 90s run Valiant had the coolest characters. I also enjoyed the Gold Key books they were based on. Reading old-ass Magnus Robot Fighter is pretty dope.

Free Comic Book Day week, woot! My first one, too. :)
Just Indestructible Hulk for me, this week. I was being a little negative about it earlier, but I do hope it's good.
