DC Spring 2015 solicits

possible things of note:

Absolute Kevin Smith Green Lantern/Transmet/Y ("we'll print anything in absolute these days!")
Deluxe editions of Mad Love, Batman: Gothic, Dial H, the Filth (!!), Sandman Overture (lol)
b/w version of Dark Knight Returns (dunno how much I'd care for something like that tbh, Varley brings so much to the book)
New edition of Cataclysm
Third JSA omni (wow)
a Neal Adams omnibus that apparently has both volumes of Odyssey
Dixon Nightwing reprints
Orion by Walter Simonson Omnibus
Millar/Morrison Swamp Thing (wow)
Wonder Woman by George Perez Omnibus

no Doom Patrol yet, but I believe in DC/Vertigo and their love of reprinting their books in every format imaginable.

Gotta have that Swamp thing...

Ansolutely stunned by Dial H getting the hardcover treatment. Now would've been a good time as any to collect goddam Peter David's Aquaman.......

how the fuck they kept Walter Simonson's Orion out of print this long I'll never know...now what about John Ostrander/Mandrake Spectre

IMO, it blows most Batman stories out of the water. Definitely in my top ten Bat-related comics.
Then I will order when it shows up on German Amazon. Nice, now only Marvel needs to release their Paperback Previews for the first Quarter 2015 and I can finally place my orders for the next half year.

• Batman Vol. 6 (The New 52)

This is apparently (again, subject to change) the post-Zero Year collection we've been waiting for, with Batman #0, #18-20, #28, and Batman Annual #2. A third time, subject to change.

Finally getting all of those skipped issues. Nice!

Hmm? They just did one volume of Spectre earlier this year and a second one is due out in December.

Went to pick up my Multiversity #1 blank variant and they just happen to have Infinity Man and the forever People#1, #2 & #3. Better be amazing ! Lol

Also a quick complaint .. I'm getting really tired of getting my brand new comics from my LCS damaged. Urgh. Time to switch to the bigger n better LCS.

Its unfortunate but I dont think its the shops fault, but the team at Diamond who boxed their order up. Every Chris Burnham cover of Multiversity that my shop got did not have a crease but an U-shaped arc where you could tell the ties they put around the comics was too tight. Its now sitting under 100lbs of books to flatten it back out, its working. I wouldnt have bought it if it was creased.

Edit - wow, 3 people trying out IM&FP because I hyped it. Im confident that its a good book, but I cant help but feel pressure that my reputation is on the line here. lol

You're doing the Highfather's work here my friend.

Dang, though i think they're done with two, Spectre got one more trade than SS did

I'm still a little salty but i will be ok

Wait, what's SS? [edit: Oh, Suicide Squad, I assume]

They could continue with Spectre, hard to say based on these solicits. First volume in May, second in December, if they were doing more it probably wouldn't be until after the period these solicits cover.

On the other hand, no sign here of a 3rd book for Ostrander's Martian Manhunter, which is on a schedule roughly 3 months ahead of the Spectre collections.

This new(er) Dardevil series is so good. I've only read I think one TPB of Daredevil before this relaunch.
Chris Samne is back next issue ! ;)))
But... #7 was Javier Rodriguez's (full time colorist and guest artist ) last issue on Daredevil.

Simonson's Orion at last. The trades have been out of print for ages and it's not available digitally. It's a crime to have this shit unavailable when it dedicates an issue to the best Darkseid - Orion fight ever.

Edit - wow, 3 people trying out IM&FP because I hyped it. Im confident that its a good book, but I cant help but feel pressure that my reputation is on the line here. lol
If it makes you feel better, I do tend to pick up Fourth World related shit. Hell, it's the reason I keep picking up Worlds' Finest and I'll probably get back into Lantern books for that New Genesis event.

but I am taking tiny steps forward
Just read the last issue of the "Painting That Ate Paris" arc of Doom Patrol. Soooo good. Everything about it was so good. And that ending where
the Brotherhood of Dada accidentally gets stuck in the painting (and that scene with that collector getting the painting back and putting it in the vault)
was just perfect.
Oh, also, the Simon Bisley covers are FANTASTIC.

I mean, just look at this:

doom_patrol__43_00.jpg

If no one else runs with this, I will try to write something up for you in between my struggles towards comics coloring superstardom.

Awesome.

Omnibus bros, talk me off the ledge here. There's an Infinite Crisis omni that I can get for $160. That's $10 over the cover price, but the book is OOP and usually goes for over $300 on eBay.

This is my white whale. I've been hunting for a copy at a "reasonable" price for a long time now. Ugh....

Do it. If it's something you've been after for a long time, you're only going to regret it if you get cold feet now. If you're ever going to get it, you should get it now. That's a great price for it.

nailed it!

I just wonder what the demand for Spectre reprints is. I'm interested, but the whole run was like 60+ issues, yeah? But then again, they're also doing random ass Question reprints, so it must be for that new Trinity of Sin stuff

Newsarama: DC Comics Has 'Specific Plans' for New POWER GIRL

The Earth 2 Power Girl, Karen Starr, might have gone back home to her war-ravaged alternate earth in Worlds' Finest #26, but she — and the comic's writer, Paul Levitz — left behind quite a legacy on the main DCU Earth.

There's a new Power Girl on Prime Earth — a black teenager named Tanya Spears, who's one of the "most intelligent 17-year-olds on the planet." She's the daughter of Karen's assistant, Somya, who was killed several issues ago.

And according to our interview with Levitz, she's a character that DC wanted Levitz to create — and the editors have "specific plans" for her.

Looks pretty interesting. I mean, I'll cut a fool if they disappear Karen, but building a Power Girl legacy is something I could be cool with.

Spectre's also playing a role in that upcoming Gotham By Midnight series, so that may be something they'll play off.

So I managed to finish my inking of this image by Greg Capullo. It's cropped funny, and I just realized it now. Must have been how I 'printed' the base image. Anyway, new appreciation for the process.

That's awesome! Really great work!

Anybody read IDW's Little Nemo Return to Slumberland? I'm a little curious about a comic that is a 109 year old reboot. That has to be a record.

Thank you guys. My shop didn't have the Burnham cover of Multiversity. The one I ordered at midtown will be here tomorrow.

I'm pissed though, because I'm too exhausted to read.

Thank you! Now I really need to re-stock on art supplies. I can't find any of my old pen/ink/marker stuff.

It really is wonderful man!

I think we should all take the Greg Land Tracing challenge and attempt to draw super heroes using the Land Method and have people guess if it's porn or a celebrity.

Edit: WOW!!!! KIPP x INDIGO

Haha thanks everyone, it was a lot of fun and I'm grateful Kipp let me mess around with his work. The whole process is really, really fucking cool. It's been too long since I've felt motivated to draw.

I'm reading through the 3rd oversized hardcover now. I know a bunch of people were saying the quality dies out after the first bunch of issues but that is in no way true. Waid and Samnee's Daredevil is damn good, 26+ issues in.

Unless they do Absolute editions, it's probably going to be 2 volumes per book. Transmet was 10 volumes, just like Y: The Last Man, so you'd be looking at 5 deluxe hardcovers.

They are Absolute versions. Sandman is 75 issues into 4 Absolutes. Hoping they can squeeze 60 issues for Transmetropolitan into 3.
