Lol. I just took a look. Pretty hilarious.

Stuff like this always makes me laugh at how concerned people are over continuity. It's like... c'mon. These are fictional characters here. They're not real people. Just let writers tell whatever stories they want and let good stories be good and bad stories be bad. Forget about continuity. So one writer implied that Hercules was bi once. Okay cool. So the next writer decides to shrug off that implication. This isn't the end of the world, folks.

I'm not bi but I think it was more to do with inclusion than giving a shit about continuity on the whole. That's kinda a big deal to people. We saw a similar reaction to the whole full gay escapade.

Why did you go into an OT comic thread?

I thought there could be something there, but nah, it's all concern trolling like "no but see you're too good for scraps, just starve yourselves until something shows up" because if there's one thing a big industry like comics is known for it's nimbleness and ability to quickly react to feedback.

I think I also wanted to make a point about how it's actually useful to be vocal about that stuff, because really I don't think DC would have 6 ongoings with openly queer leads if there hadn't been a very loud demand for it, after the shit show that was the New 52.

I think we do a better job of representing a progressive atmosphere than the OT threads. We're just a bunch of decent folks who like comics and other stuff.

Most communities can come across quite inclusive but you're all friendly and welcoming. This is a pretty chill place.

Yo, Freeza. I finally got to read the first issue of Low Volume 2. #7. DAMN. That was rough. I was shaking my head over the last 4 or 5 pages. Being like.

I see Low is not going to change its mo of gut punching me at every turn. I think I'll read #8 tonight.

And we're better for it.

I woulda disagreed, but then I saw Slayen tossing shade at Jack Kirby.

Honestly, sometimes I feel like OT has this... weirdly rigid definition of what it means to be progressive or inclusive. Like, it's more about checking the right boxes than being a decent person. I dunno.

but I am taking tiny steps forward

This is just my opinion and I'm not saying your opinion is wrong or anything, but in my opinion, not having enough LGBT representation is a legitimate issue, but having one character be straight after it being implied one time he could possibly be bi in a throwaway line is not a legitimate issue. Sure, it would've been an easy way to add to that LGBT representation by running with it and making it clear that he's bi, but they didn't. It's most likely that they weren't trying to spite the LGBT community, they just didn't want to go that direction with the story.
I dunno. Those are just my thoughts on it.
Once again, I don't feel super strongly about this viewpoint or anything and I think your viewpoint is totally fair and understandable. This is just my view of the situation.

And for the sake of this thread, I'm not going to talk about this any more for fear of it starting an argument and filling up the next 5 pages of our thread with vitriol.

Everyone welcomes at least one Hentai Guy in their life at some point. I remember the dark days of Cnet from when i posted in AnimeGaf for a hot minute.

Hentai guy came in, asked us for books that were like his favorite Hentai, and then he was perma'd a day later.

Interesting take. I mostly think OT has way more people that are likely to comment on something they know jack shit about and try to appear clever by doing so.

We even welcomed Hentai guy.

RIP Hentai Guy.

My fave part about that was that ElNarez was hella ready to answer that guys questions

I should make that Max Landis thread on Monday, then.

The Wonder Woman earth one stuff looks cheesecakey, is Grant doing an exploitation film thing there?

He posted like 4 times at the start of a thread asking what hentai we like and where to get some

He was banned not long after lol

I don't know why but this is hilarious. Maybe if he posted in MangaGaf he wouldn't have met such a cruel fate.

Haha I need to learn more about porn comics. Im just super picky about them. Like the art needs to be *on point* and it cant be all that dumb

A few friends of mine are really into Chester 5000. Maybe I can give that a read.

Oh no, I just read he first arc fully tonight. I take it that means the one person I like is screwed. Well fuck. That's gonna hang over me even if nothing happens. :|

A big part of why I stopped reading the series...
The one really likeable character in the book....

I kinda wanna catch up on W/D ever since Messi mentioned that Tula Lotay issue is coming up. Whew boy, that art. I would start it over. I only made it three issues into the first trade and I read those in a single sitting.

For now though, goddamn Simone's Red Sonja is good.

Been reading X-Men: First Class (2006). Was expecting something more substantial than episodic fluff.

Yeah, that's exactly what that is. It's a nostalgic thing, moreso anything else. Are you looking for something in particular?

Watched Guardians of the Galaxy today, great movie. Are the comics [Guardians of the Galaxy (2013-) according to ComiXology] as good as/better/worse?

And to close the night, watching The Cobbler
and liking it

DO NOT READ THE GOTG SERIES BY BRAIN M. BENDIS which is the one you mentioned. It's trash.

sOMEONE post the Cosmic marvel reading list, and just follow that.

Let's all make a pact right now:

Don't go into an OT comic thread.

Please you'd be among the first to go into an OT Comic thread after everybody agrees to this :V

That was part of Marvel's kid oriented comic series, which is good if you want light hearted stuff.

Just read Astonishing X-men if you haven't. It's by Joss Whedon and among the best X-books.

Hope the sword is just for reference, otherwise Morrison's a bit of liar.

EDIT: Ah I think the sword and shield was made for the statue some more pics

I thought it would give me a better foundation for the X-Men.

Just finished it. Should I bother with the special and second series? What about the other related series?
