Wonder Woman #1: I was most hopeful for this book out of the DC relaunch but i find it dull, the legacy DC was trying to re-inject into their universe weights the book down, it has no interesting premise right now two issues in. I don't care which version of Diana's history is true, i want to read an interesting story and this is not it. This is a Wonder Woman book like Batman is a Batman book and that's about it, they both totally have Wonder Woman and Batman in each book. Mission accomplished.

Don't blame you not liking this, I'm skipping Aquaman cuz nu52 had a better Black Manta story. I never read WW till the rebirth special and I love it.

Edit: sorry double post

Anyone else get that itch to start drawing when they read comics? I'd really like to start a sketchbook or something, I used to draw so much when I was young but then it just drifted away growing up. Following artists and colourists on twitter makes me want to get my arse in gear.

Just start tracing porn and you can get a gig at Marvel.

I never actually start the sketches but the thought crosses my mind all the time.

Surely if I just trace Land then I can skip the middleman so to speak.

Yeah it's been something that I've been thinking about for a while need to get the motivation and some learning materials and get to it.

No. But every time I play No Man's Sky I get the itch to play something good instead.

I haven't played it since Friday, probably going to trade it in for Deus Ex at this point. If it actually shipped with base building and other stuff like that I'd probably keep it but nah. I don't really get any enjoyment out of resource management. For all it's massive scale there is very little to it.

I must be ten or so hours in and I'm still enjoying it. It's definitely got its problems though.

I just got to the first Atlas station, which was cool for a few minutes. Then we're straight back to monotonous bullshit. I'd be all-in with this game if we could actually focus on exploring instead of the game just being a collect-a-thon. Give me a scrub-mode option in a patch where I can have infinite fuel for my ship and equipment (and infinite money!), and I'll be able to actually have fun.

I wanted to be an illustrator or designer when I was in school, and comics were a major factor. Bagley's work on Ultimate Spider-Man and Quitely on ASS and Batman & Robin were huge influences to me. Along with the usuals like Kirby and Ditko.

I'm not really crazy about Bagley's art these days, but I was a young teen so I'll cut past me some slack. Quitely still rules though so I had some good taste at least! His work on B&R just felt so fresh.

Already pre-ordered Deus Ex digitally. Can't wait. Thinking about picking up Bound and Read Only Memories this week to tide me over.

Sounds like its easier as time goes on with increased inventory space and better ships but I expect a lot of people to tire of it before they get there.

I really liked the first arc of the current Deadpool run, its refreshing to see Wade not be a cartoon. I mean its still silly and he still cracks a joke now and then but not constantly. I also like his scooby gang.

I like the things Duggan does with Deadpool and his supporting cast because he makes serious stories and character development funny to me.

Funny thing is that Otto Schhmidt used to draw porn for a site. I recognized his art during the Green Arrow Rebirth. I wonder how DC picked him up.
Didio was probably a fan of said work.

I'd probably say Bruce Timm and Jim Lee unknowingly had an effect on me growing up through Batman TASM and X-men. Timm especially still wows me to this day. I never really knew what I wanted to be but drawing was a big part of my childhood that I'd love to regain.

Whoa Bound looks really cool, never heard of it before. I've had Deus Ex pre-ordered on Amazon for a while but I traded in some shit to get No Mans Sky 99p so I might as well get rid of it. If I was confident in my PC I would just get Deus Ex on that.

Read Only Memories seems interesting.

Sean Murphy is doing an eight issue Elseworlds Batman series next year. He's writing and drawing it and said it will be his "DK and my Year 100. My attempt at an opus."

He didn't offer any other details but I'd be willing to bet money it will involve hot rods and kick ass motorcycles.

Yeah Timm's another. His art is great.

BTW if you're interested in ROM, check out VA-11 HALL-A. One of my favorite games this year.

Hah I was going to post about that but I couldn't remember the name! Been interested in buying it since I saw a trailer god knows when. Bartender cyberpunk visual novel is a bunch of words I never knew I wanted to string together.

I imagine it'll be like that future batman issue he drew with clone Bruce? (I forget where I read this)

I would count on it.

This has never left my wall. It's my favorite piece and I really need to get it re framed...

After Punk Rock Jesus he can do no wrong in my eyes.

Good. Azzarello's origin was shit. Moreso due to his portrayal of the amazons than anything else.
So just dump us into a new continuity and let us figure it out. Rucka's obsession with procedure, and his need to show his work and explain exactly how we arrived here in meticulous detail is dull storytelling.

Man, I can't really get into The Black Monday Murders. This is long-winded even by Hickman standards.

I tried to read it at work on my lunch break and quit halfway through.

Gave it another shot today. When I had time to really go over the diagrams and shit to figure out what exactly was going on I liked it a quite a bit more.

Still I hope he knocks it off with all the extra shit sooner rather than later cuz it'll get old really quick.

It's not terrible like No Man's Sky, but it seems like he's trying to recreate the Black Order from Time Runs Out except with bankers. Which is kind of lol. I'll keep at it for a bit.

What did you reread?
RIght now I'm following:
Paper Girls
Saga
I Hate Fairyland
Wayward
Snot Girl

and I'm probably going to give the notable stuff another chance.

My metric for terrible comics is Betty and Veronica.

Was unsure if I should ask for recommendations in this thread or the Starter thread but I'm wondering what Booster Gold stuff I should look into. My local comic shop has 52 Pick Up (I think that's what the run is called) and I plan on getting that with my next paycheck but what other BG comics should I check out?

Have you read the 52 series? Booster Gold has is one of the five or so characters that the 52-issue series follows.

Nope, going in totally blind. I've been interested in the character for a while and figured I might as well buy the comics. I'll check that one out.
