COMICS!!! |OT| December 2016. Motor Girl is my new Motor Crush

Brian Fellows

Pete Carroll Owns Me
I really enjoyed the first 4 issues of Plutona... but the final issue was delayed by 3-4 months and was kind of a letdown, at least to me. The issue felt rushed, like maybe it should've been 6 instead of 5 and just didn't feel like a satisfying conclusion.

Yeah to me Plutona felt like a decent first arc in a longer series that we'll never see the rest of.

Got Bloodborne, a bookshelf, gloves. Pretty solid Christmas.

Also some of these NYX variants are super suspect

Nice, a bookshelf, that's a good one actually!

Sounds like everyone did well! Got the books and amiibo I posted, and a bunch of movies and trash to eat while I read and watch this stuff haha. My Xmas money has went on FFXV, The Last Guardian and a bunch of discworld books on the kindle so far, and probs grab some stuff on psn when it'll function for me. Thinking God Eater, DQ Builders and World Of FF

I can vouch for DQ Builders. Great game

I'm down for it dude, had a ton of fun with dqvii this year and loved the demo. Still going back and forth a little on which format. For all three of those actually.
I went PS4 but ended up spending almost all the time in remote play. And the text in remote play was pretty tiny. But it did look nice when I actually played it on PS4. If it had cross save I would have easily double dipped.

I'm really confused as to why LEGO White Tiger has a glowing disc:

Lego-76059-Doc-Occ-Tentacle-Trap-White-Tiger-Minifigure-5.jpg

Like, were they upset with her being the only superhero in the Spider-Man line to not have something to hold on to? Ghost Rider has a chain and all the Spiders have webs, etc. And if so, then what is that supposed to be? Her Tiger God powers? Power shield? Lite Brite? Can't be the amulet, because it's on her chest on the fig.

Thanks guys, really appreciate it.

And am I remembering right that that Tomasi/Gleason run was really good stuff, or is it just kind of okay?

Also, I think it speaks to how much I've spent in the past year that Comixology sent me a $20 code. Which is cool and I'll definitely happily accept it, but it almost feels like an affirmation that I went too far. Like how they give you stuff at a casino if you're spending big.

The first 6 volumes were very good. Volume 7 was a bit meh but worth reading to wrap up the series.

That run is really good. Also Tomasi had an underrated Nightwing run that was at the tail end prior to N52

And people and their codes. Given the amount I spend st that sight and I never get anything

I thought it was pretty average pre Damian's death, but afterwards it was amazing. Especially the issue immediately following his death

You and me both, not once have I gotten a coupon code from CMX
Went ahead and grabbed the run, as code+coupon made it so I could get it for like $16. Thanks guys!

At slight risk for my wallet (though I still intend to hold firm), is there much of note that really breaks the $1 per issue line for the DC sale (of course this sale being 60% means it's more of an $0.80 line)? Like, some of the various trades go a few extra issues and beat that by a bit, but are there any recommendations for stuff that really kills that price proposition and works out to like $0.50 per issue or better? I feel like I've seen a few things that were really nuts in the past, usually from the larger collections of stuff that sometimes make it to Comixology. Personally not interested in Vertigo for this right now as I'm pretty set on that line, though I want to say I got at least one or two deals like what I'm talking about in there when I went in on that stuff, for anyone curious.

Mostly just curious as to what the "best deals" for this sale work out to be more than anything else. (Of course some super high quality classics are worth more than a ton more pages of a meh title, but I'm just kind of interested into just how good the issue to dollar ratio can get).

Hmm, cheers for the feedback, mulling it over. Ps4 was having issues earlier when I tried to buy it, so got an evening to consider it.

As for Rotworld, nice to see folks pick the book they don't like out of the pile to discuss and none of the others so cheers for that.

Sorry donnie, Rotworld triggers me

I'm starting to dive into bombshells (digital first versions) through the first 9 issues and I'm liking it a lot. Cool interpretations of the various characters

Er... am I looking at something wrong, or is Comixology missing a big chunk of the Giffen Justice League run? This should be the page for it, far as I can tell, and it doesn't even seem to be an issue of the change with International taking over the name, as that's displayed there just fine. Looking online there should be a #1-60 plus some Europe stuff, but the page jumps from 24 to 37, and then from 40 to 69!

This is supposed to be an incredibly beloved and fantastic run, right? Like, from what I've heard of it it's supposed to be one of THE big ones, so if it's indeed missing those huge chunks, then that seems like an absolutely insane oversight on their part.

(To follow up on the fact that I said I'd go lockdown on Comixology for the time being and yet I'm looking at this stuff, btw: I got a VERY generous gift for Christmas that freed up enough money that I'm willing to look a LITTLE again at stuff and perhaps grab a thing or two more if it really catches my eye. Which so far has just been realizing I was missing Morrison JLA and Seven Soldiers, plus the Batmanga, which I think I'll at least add those. This was something I was considering, but if it's not even up properly, then eh. I can wait for them to get crap sorted out).

Edit: One more question real quick, too: For the Dixon era where he was essentially covering the line, I've already picked up his Batman stuff and the Birds of Prey run, but how intertwined was all that stuff? My gut feeling was initially to try out what I have and see how I feel about his writing first, since that should definitely give me a solid sample. And then assuming I'm interested enough, I'd go for his big old Robin and Nightwing runs. But am I going to kind of ruin the experience on any of those titles by doing so? Or should that be a totally acceptable way of approaching things? (IE was he playing the line of Batfamily stuff as one big interconnected story, or is it more that occasionally you'll get a character referencing some event or another alongside a footnote?)

Huh, I guess that does cover most of the gap (36 seems to be missing still then in the void, if nothing else). Weird that they didn't parcel those out and put them up as the separate issues as well, since I thought Comixology generally at least did that much whenever they put up a trade. But that'd still leave like 20 issues missing at the end, right?

Yeah, 40-60 seem to be missing.

Edit: Do you need all of them though? CSBG blog's indicates Giffen might have left at $45?

I mean in theory I may indeed be fine with just part of it, as I'm not sure how tied together the whole run is. But to be honest, with the way I am, I'd probably want to read the whole thing, so it's probably for the best to not buy it until I can (and I'd hope they'd at least fill in that hole eventually, as it seems like a kind of significant one). AKA I'm at least partially looking for an excuse to not spend more money, and it's also just part that it'd bug me to not have the whole thing.

And that's interesting. I was mainly going off his Wiki page and this listing as part of CBR's 2012 comic book ranking list, which had it as going up to #60.
Edit: I've never read Superman: Birthright or Secret Identity. Are both of those classics, or just one? Because for some reason they seem to have fused together in my head and I can't recall what I've heard said about each one.
