After seeing it theorized on twitter, I'm now firmly convinced that Steve Orlando is going to take over Suicide Squad for Rebirth and that Midnighter is going to fill the Rick Flag role.

Yeah it's really upsetting. Plus, the English dub audience (fucking me, goddamnit) is still pissed off that Funi never managed to get the rights to S3 and S4 WHICH IS LITERALLY THE BEST PART OF THE SHOW (Suman Dark's Fallen through Assault on the Black Order).

And plus, why wouldn't you reboot an older anime when the current popular climate is REBOOTING OLDER ANIME. Good god, I'm actually getting angrier just thinking about it.

I know right?? The success of JoJo and HxH should be pretty telling.

I'm especially miffed they never finished the bluray releases here. It would have made it at least bearable. I swear, some of that anime looks straight up blurry for no reason. And yeah, I actually remember some of the later bits actually having good animation; that's the part they gave up on. :(

Well, I am still wary because it's the same studio that made the other one, but maybe they've improved in the last 10 years? The Alma arc is one of my favorites; I'm cautiously optimistic. Meanwhile, I only just read the latest chapter yesterday (a whole month late). I have so many questions. Hoshino pls, start answering them.

Uh huh. Unlike the likable Trump who touts apocryphal stories of generals lining up and executing Muslims as wise foreign policy. So likable. So harmless.

Voting Trump for the lulz is fucking vile. Even trolling with this shit is enabling him and those who think like him.
Yup, I'll consider anyone who votes for Drumpf in the general an endorser of wildly xenophobic and racist policies that specifically would destroy the lives of my family, friends, and community.

Continuing through Walking Dead Compendium 1, at this point I'm guessing that these just kill off the divisions between individual issues and instead give massive "chapters" that are actually the contents of each trade, as reading through Chapter 3 has taken me nearly halfway through a 48 issue long book. So yeah, still enjoying it, but pretty much all the characters have have had some level of being an unlikeable dick, except the kids I guess, and some more understandable than others (though fortunately a bit more in chapter 2 than 3 as well). I did guess that holing up in a prison would've gone badly for precisely that reason (IE surviving prisoners), though it honestly didn't go quite as bad as I was thinking it may (though the last chapter did end with
the main cast at gunpoint being forced out, so it certainly didn't end great
.)

I'm also realizing how weird it is to have an ongoing and long running zombie series. Like, it's pretty much just doomed to be a cycle of "find new place, things go to crap, get out of there, try again" for now. Kind of hoping they at least manage to actually settle down at least for a while at some point as a change of pace. But I certainly am interested to see how it keeps things going (and I guess please no spoilers, as I'm still plenty early on in the series).

Edit: Also, in a worrying note I've realized that I'm not really remembering the female characters, and that they mainly come to mind through who they're paired up with... and then I realized that's awkwardly most of their character, while the men are the ones going out and doing things and being developed. That does seem to be changing at least some as of chapter 3, though, so that's good.

New Humble Bundle at the corner, just some little hours to go.
Chances of it being a comic bundle... I don't know, we haven't had to endure weeks of DIY or Papercraft shit since the last one.

This week I thought I'd try something new; in lieu of 1-2 line reviews that just clog up page space that could be spent discussing the minutiae of Mahvel and/or Olivia Wilde, I'm just gonna rank the books I read this week, and make some general comments. So, without further ado:

-The Omega Men
-Sheriff of Babylon
-Midnighter
-The Legend of Wonder Woman
-Batman & Robin Eternal
-Bombshells
-Batman Beyond

This was an extremely strong week. Batman Beyond is in the middle of a retool, which in most books would result in a lull but in this one signals nothing but further improvement. Glad it'll be sticking around; it's placement at the bottom of the list is more about how strong the rest of it is, and the new elements being introduced (stuff from Kamandi, more characters from the animated series) are promising.

Speaking of strong, I quite frankly lack the ability to articulate how incredibly good this issue of The Omega Men is. A shocking issue, for more reasons than one, and the last page simply blew me away. The next three issues are going to be absolutely insane.

Midnighter takes away Best Fight this week, which is weird because I normally don't like Midnighter's fights. They tend to boil down to "Midnighter brags about how fight computer, other enhancements make him invincible, demonstrates such," with his only loss being due to outright temporal hax. This was much better executed.

Got my tax refund today. Most of it's going to bills, but I was able to have a pretty nice IST order.

i'm pretty sure that Emma Frost is straight up Ramos from an Extraordinary X-Men cover but I can't be bothered to check

Trump is one of those things that white dudes found hilarious in an ironic way, but now they're starting to get scared, while Trump has scared minorities since the jump.

Yeah I've read through the first two compendiums of walking dead, and you basically just have to accept that it's basically an ongoing excuse for escalating shock value and misery porn. Mind you it's pretty good at that, and an entertaining read, but it's not all that well written. I find that Punisher MAX does the whole tension, extreme violence, and depressing as fuck stories just as well if not better, but is smarter about the characters as well.

Don't forget Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. Fuck, I'd say DBZ Kai counts, even if it is just removed filler and some reanimation in select spots.

I have not read the most recent chapter. I should do that though. I feel like being nonsensically mindfucked
Oooh, that'd be fun.
It super would be

Be careful what you wish for... ok, it's not been as bad as the last two, but it continues the WTF and raises it a bit higher with a twist.

Walking Dead #152

Negan is out! Oh boy. It was bound to happen. That Brandon kid will be killed though. Man Rick almost went off the tracks there. Dude was straight up in to Ricktator mode. And now we have a new mystery; who is the man who is talking to Eugene over the Radio? Over.

Old Man Logan #3

I'm enjoying this book waaaaaay too much.

Is Twilight Princess hd worth buying in the year 2016? I'm not a huge zelda fan but i always like the idea of the series, never played TP despite buying it for Wii.

I liked it a lot. Midna's great and personally I liked the darker tone for a change. I'd quite like to replay it but I'm not buying a Wii U just for that.

I expect we'll see a few of these teasers over the next while.

Of course. With the new Captain America film pushing people to check out comics just in time for the next Civil War event. Makes sense from a marketing perspective. But I can't shake the feeling that they just copied the plot of minority report.

The last page of Omega Men is amazing.

Has it gotten better? I stopped reading it around issue #7, or wherever it was that it hit that lull.

This months header makes me sad that I dropped Rachel Rising a few months ago :(

WAT Cheska not buying every comic every week? I'm shocked.

Also, you should buy Wayward. Great series.

It's already my phone background.

Looking ahead in the solicits, it seems
Kyle is called the Omega Lantern,
that's pretty cool.

That's very cool, and very curious.
Omega
in this context has some very specific connotations that would seem to run counter to
the whole White Lantern shtick.

So I don't know if it was worth it, but picked up Doctor Fate, Black Canary #1s and... Booster Gold... I'm not sure how I feel about that. Alex at the Beguiling suggested it for DC characters, since most of my superhero books have been Marvel of late, and I'm looking to expand beyond Lemire books. Hopefully he's right. Booster Gold, i grabbed on my own....

Sunstone v4 being so massive was a pleasant surprise though.

What are the best Alan Moore comics besides Watchmen? I obviously loved Watchmen and want to pick up a couple others...looking at Killing Joke, From Hell, and League of Extraordinary Gentlemen rn

Killing Joke is pretty essential if you're a Batman fan. I've heard that From Hell is terribly boring, though I've never read it. I've always been intrigued by The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, but I have yet to actually read it.

League is well worth reading. It puts the Sean Connery movie to shame.

Goddamnit that book can't be done and collected soon enough. It's capping at 12, right?

Yep! The trade has already been solicited for August I believe, it will contain all 12 issues.

Has it gotten better? I stopped reading it around issue #7, or wherever it was that it hit that lull.

Oh god yeah. 7 was definitely a slow issue, I will not debate that at all, but 8 and 9 have been amazing.

That's very cool, and very curious.

Yeah, that's a very deliberate word choice in the context of the series, I'm curious to see how it will play out. All I know is fools are gonna get wrecked.

Swamp Thing, Top 10, and Promethea.
Also try and find a copy of a a collection called DC Universe: The Stories of Alan Moore. It has a lot of great one off stories, including one of my favorite Superman stories (For the Man Who Has Everything) and two of my favorite Green Lantern stories (Mogo Doesn't Socialize and In Blackest Night).
