Ghist Racers #2-3: This book is better in concept than in execution im afraid. I like the idea of these Ghost Riders forced to race for entertainment but the story is very cliche "Robbie escapes, gets chased down by the other Riders, convinces them to revolt" and much like the previous Ghost Rider book, not much actually happens, its kinda boring. Art is nice but its no Tradd Moore. I do like how they call their powers "Igniter Spirits", makes it feel like a anime lol.

Planet Hulk #3-4: Devil Dinosaur motherfuckers! Steve, Devil and Doc Green reach the Mudlands where Bucky is supposedly held, but there is bad news waiting for Cap. This book continues to easily be one of the best tie ins and probably one of the few must reads in my opinion. The amount if world building and back story Humphries squeezes in each issue is uncanny especially compared to other tie ins where not much happens (like Ghost Racers earlier), and the art is fantastic. Really cool stuff. Devil tho <3

Inhumans: Attilan Rising #3-5: amazing book, probably will end up my favorite tie in. Loved the ending, loved that it tied in to other books, the art is beautiful. My inly nitpick is issue #5 felt a little rushed, it could have used another issue. Still fantastic tho, Inhuman books are so good these days. Some spoilers:

Blackbolt coming out of terrigenisis only to kill Medusa by accident when he uses his powers was awesome. And I love the last oage, after Doom "resets" that part of battleworld, with Medusa now in the place of the rebel leader instedd of Blackbolt, and much like Blackbolt could speak before terrigenisis, Medusa has short hair without her powers heh, I loved that little detail.

Amazing Spider-Man has been a lot of fun since ANAD started. Lovely art too.

Rhaknar, I loved that final page. Used it as a wallpaper on my phone for weeks.

Holy moly I just went to Dragon Slayer in Austin, TX during my visit and had the time of my life. I've been trying to read more and have gone as far as starting a book club on my FB page but I didn't expect to visit a Tabletop/Comic shop and come out with a ton of suggestions!

I walked out with Pretty Deadly Vol. 1 and ODY-C Vol. 1 but saw a bunch of others I can't wait to try. Namely "Nameless." I finished Pretty Deadly Vol. 1 last night and I am just beyond blown away. I'm definitely keeping my eye on Image Comics now.

Anyway know anything about Nameless or have opinions on Pretty Deadly or ODY-C? ODY-C seems super heady, which I'm into, but it's definitely not a quick read.

(I was very proud when I walked out and got complimented on my selections by the staff! I skimmed their giant collection for almost 2 hours and picked these for stylistic/artistic choices. Very happy I made good choices.)

If you thought Dragon's Lair was cool, you should check out Austin Books and Comics. One of the best shops in the land

Your book selection is pretty solid. I think you'll enjoy those titles. The creators on those books are well respected and put out good work

I am blushing a bit. I never looked at the sign and just heard people say it! I just jammed it all together.

I want to head back up monthly since we stay in Houston. My girlfriend and I had the best time and are considering moving that way in a year or two, should all stay on the track we're on. Are you from ATX?

I'm already enamored with Pretty Deadly. ODY-C seems brilliant but it might be a slow burn. Almost feels like Stephen Universe meets Odyssey meets sexy-fying everything.

Maaan. Our boy Bruce is such a beast.

Can't see it in the picture but she's smiling like CRAZY in the last panel.

"That's enough questions..."

Well that wasn't even a question, Master Bruce.

Image comics have loads of great books by amazing creators. Good selections.

Nameless is great. It's a very disturbing horror comic with some really gruesome visuals. The plot's really interesting and makes you want to reread it as soon as you finish. It's kind of confusing but I'd recommend it if you're looking for a space horror comic.

Yooooooooooooooooooo yooooooooooooooooooo I read Mockingbird. Holy shit that was awesome and lived up to the one shot. So excited for more of this.

Love Kate Niemczyk's Bobbi and her costume looks incredible in that artstyle.

HELLFIRE CLUB NEXT ISSUE OMG AND THEN CORGIS

I've been trying to write more. Most of my experience is with songwriting but I've always loved telling stories and had a mind suited for fiction, so I'm trying to flex more muscles than just lyricism. I started my book club to try and incentive myself to explore new things outside of what I'm currently exclusively reading.

Which is Lovecraft. Nameless looked like it'd be up my alley if I love Lovecraft. Is that accurate?

Maaaan. People said New Frontier was really good, right? I'm considering being semi-irresponsible and ordering that and the Neal Adams Batman because of people in here saying that was good. I don't know. I guess I wouldn't mind people talking me towards or against either of those books as I mull it over...

Why does one have to be better than the other? Both went for different angles and both were great. Let's just be happy for good comics.

Because the internet funcions like the Highlander universe

Cain Mockingbird > Samnee Black Widow as of now

I agree that I preferred Mockingbird, but they were different books. Black Widow was driven almost entirely by action panels, so we haven't been given as much information in that story as we have for Mockingbird just yet, so it's really hard to make a direct comparison between the two.

By that metric we also don't know what the action is like in Mockingbird as she barely does any kind of action.

You two are making me want these books.

I'm not well versed in Lovecraft myself but based on your post I'd say you'd probably enjoy it! There's going to be a hardcover book collecting the whole series (with some redrawn art and bonuses IIRC) coming out in comic shops this week, so I'd go for that.

Agreed completely. Both of them go for entirely different focuses and were great opening issues in their own ways. I don't really get saying one is straight better when they really aren't similar outside of being led by female characters.

BTW the letter at the end of Mockingbird gave me complete confidence in the book and made me happy for the creative team. Clearly excited to be on the job.

THIS WEEK shit man, I'm getting over excited. Lovecraft mostly focuses on the thin veil of our reality and how creatures birthed in environments completely unlike ours might develop sense besides our 5. And that's like ground level threat compared to creatures that might be able to comprehend more than three dimensions! Thank you. I'm glad it's great because I walked back to those comics a couple dozen times but couldn't find a collective volume.

One week too early! I'm picking this up Wednesday if it's out. Ca-ching, pay day.

I adore The New Frontier. It's one of my favorite books ever. Darwyn Cooke at his best, IMO.

I love how most of the story is told in these widescreen cinematic panels:

Fair enough. Though I can't imagine Mockingbird won't have lots of it at some point.

And I'm sure black Widow will fill in what exactly is going on. Haven't Waid and Samnee earned the benefit of the doubt?

Ya'll change avatars too often. When you change I have no idea who you are anymore. Kipp might still be here and I can't find him due to a new avatar.

Why are you arguing your case to me? I wasn't the one shitting on Widow for being 90% action panels. I know they'll explain what's going on in more detail in the coming issues, just like I know Mockingbird is going to fuck some people up.

Just posting for the sake of posting. Feel free not to respond to me.

You're trying to play catch-up after that 7-day head start you gave everyone this month. Don't worry, I'm sure you'll be #1 by the end of the month... I see you, Messi.

I think I may pick up The Division tomorrow. Looks fun.
