Just spotted that one of the Fiumara brothers has a cover credit for the new All Star Batman, alongside Albuquerque. Is that a back up thing or is there multiple artists on the main plot? Cool to see him on such a big book, those guys are great.

The silence is finally broken on the new BPRD series in this extra short interview

Click

The juicy details are that
Abe!
and
Ashley Strode!
will both play important/central roles in the plot. The book is going to be very focused on it's main narrative this time round, without a lot of side arcs or the more ambling nature of Allie's Abe Sapien ongoing.
Sounds great. I'll miss the side stories, since they did add a lot of fun characterization to the cast. But on the other hand, I really want to see where the story goes from here so it kinda evens out. Can't wait for it to start.

Haha yeaaaa, the way things have gone with the books lately, I'm trying to just keep an open mind for now and see how it all goes. I totes agree, I love the cast just being together and some of the weird stuff they've done on the side through the years (I love the pickens county horror lol it's so strange, it could only work in the mignolaverse), but at the same time there's been this mass paring down of the line and various talent shuffles and I guess we'll see how it goes. I am psyched for this book though, I think this is the best team right now. Also I dug this up from multiversity's 31 days of Abe:

Campbell is so good at creepy.

Also I read the first 8 pages or so of the Bug and I love it! read the interview that Lord linked as well. such a cool character + the design is ace. This book is going to replace Future quest for me when that ends.

Speaking of. All DC rebirth books(paperback) are buy 2 get 1 free at B&N. great deal for newcomers.

It's not Kay. Bloodshot Island spoiler:
Kay is Deathmate
Might be Magic, but I'm not sure. She's not a hero.

EDIT: I struggled to make that not spoilery lol

I know that Valiant stuff is based on older books, but the combination of the name Bloodshot and the one in your spoiler is just too much cheese for any one book to handle.

Hahaha it was
a callback to that crossover event between Valiant and Image, which ironically was a contributing factor to Valiant's demise in the 90s. They didn't take anything from that except the name. Otherwise a solid arc of Bloodshot

Guardians 2 was dope, it seems like it's a combo of a good summer film and took notes of the common nitpicks of MCU fare.

Marvel has a number of books that should be selling higher that are trending around mid-range, while all of DC's strong pillars are performing.

Honestly, looking over the numbers, it's impressive how DC has managed to goose things by shipping its $2.99 marquee books twice a month. Marvel should steal the idea, as it worked out for them this month with Old Man Logan (at $3.99 no less). Otherwise, the stuff that has always sold continues to sell well.

Below the cutoff, we have Hellblazer, Sam Cap, Gwenpool, Captain Marvel, US Avengers, Superwoman, Ultimates 2, Doctor Strange Team, Hawkeye, Cho Hulk, Spider-Man 2009, Elektra, Silver Surfer, New Super-Man, Black Panther World, Nova, Silk, Thunderbolts, Kingpin, Cyborg, Blue Beetle, Rocket Raccoon, Power Man/Iron Fist, Supergirl: Being Super, Bullseye, Batman 66/Wonder Woman 77, Bombshells, Star-Lord, Captain Atom, Moon Girl, Gotham Academy, and most of the Hanna Barbera stuff.

Sadly, the digital code thing will keep them at 4 bucks and they just brought that back.

I started reading it, but it came out around when I had to drastically scale back my comics budget, so I never caught the end.

I just added a bunch of stuff to my wish list though, so when the next Valiant sale hits, I'm gonna go nuts.

I've been thinking about grabbing some valiant lately. Initially the idea was to just start at the valiant and read the stuff Lemire and Kindt have did since then, but I kind of put it off because I'm thinking bigger. I might start at the beginning. Not read everything but start at x-o manowar & harbinger, get some of that Dysart goodness. Is all this a rebooting of the original via the or an actual follow on? I was never clear.

Started reading Multiveristy. After reading #1, decided I was missing something and needed context.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Multiversity

In the conclusion to the 1985 comic book crossover, "Crisis on Infinite Earths", the DC Multiverse collapsed with the history of five universes being merged into one single new universe. In the 1998–1999 series, The Kingdom, author Mark Waid introduced the concept of Hypertime.

Prior to the publication of Infinite Crisis, editor Dan DiDio revealed that Hypertime no longer exists in the DCU.

Following "Infinite Crisis", the year-long weekly maxi-series 52 (2006–2007) led to the revelation that Multiverse still exists, in the form of 52 alternate universes.

In 2007–08, as a follow up to 52, and lead-in to DC's next line-wide crossover "Final Crisis", another weekly series began publication, Countdown (later retitled Countdown to Final Crisis) and various spin-off titles featured the new Multiverse.

The Multiverse plays a large part in the Final Crisis (2008–2009) series, where a team of Supermen from across the Multiverse assemble to defeat a rogue Monitor, Mandrakk. The series introduced a new Superman from Earth-23, Calvin Ellis, who is the President of the United States. Grant Morrison based the character on Barack Obama.

To anyone who’s read Final Crisis, the microscopic-life motif should be pretty clear: much as microbes chill out on head lice chill out on your landlord’s hair, life in the DC multiverse is, from a Monitor-view, either a microbial infection or a bunch of helpful bacteria, depending on how you want to look at it.

Nix Uotan refers to the Ultima Thule as a “shift-ship,” equating it (again, as implied by the map) with the Authority’s Carrier and Elijah Snow’s great big cathedral ship from Planetary. He tells him to go to the House of Heroes (which, in the Multiverse map, looks kind of like the H-Dial — which makes sense, since from there you can call heroes. Also, H is the eighth letter of the alphabet.)

Captain Carrot was cool I guess.

Rebooting. You don't need to know anything about the universe to jump in. Harbinger is my favorite. Dysart became one of my favorite writers after that and Unknown Soldier.

The Valiant is my go-to recommendation because it requires no investment beforehand, it's amazing on its own, and splits off into Lemire and Kindt's books while giving a glimpse at the whole roster of characters. Either way, I think you'll enjoy what you read.

Hell yes, I can get behind this. Unknown Soldier to this day is still one of the most powerful books I've read, and its crazy to me the guy has done so little else...until you look over at Valiant and see he's done a ton (and obviously the dude does actual legit real world humanitarian support work that is praise worthy).

Yeah, and you can really see how all of those experiences affect how he writes. The man is an absolute treasure.

I fully expect the books to stay at $4 and monthly.

Oh shiiiiit, I didn't know we're getting a reprint of the New Teen Titans omnibus (vol. 1 at least). Yay! ;u;
hopefully they fix the binding, I have the original printing and it's glued. Probably why I never finished it, because it was annoying to read

I can see how that would rile people up if true.

Also the allies using the cosmic cube thing. Is that due to the Red Skulls fuckery?
Or is he saying the allies always lost but cheated so they won?

If the latter I can see how that could be kinda insulting.
We don't know, but Hydra magic + Cosmic Cube = heavy fuckery

OMG American Gods v2. Been a long time since I've been this into a tv series.

This is how I feel reading all Morrison books.

His Batman run has a lot of cool stuff going on, but I feel like you can't really get everything out of it unless you have a PHd in Batman.

Hahaha. I can't help but love it. I mean, yeah, some of the stuff flew right past me, but it just gave me such a sense of wonder and joy.

Morrison can really fuck your mind up when given free reign, but he's so fucking talented.

You never go full-Morrison. Doom Patrol was the perfect balance and hence one of the greatest comic runs ever. You give him full reign and you get Invisibles, Filth and Flex Mentallo.

Oh there's no doubt they will. They've had sewn bindings for at least three years and good sewn bindings for about two years.

We've been gamblers this whole time?

In theory, you could make money at a casino. With comics, you might as well set your money on fire.

I'm all in on this. As I stated in the announcement thread, I like everything about this. We need the Mignolaverse. We need a reboot to make that happen.

Del Toro never got the Hellboy feel right. The movies were fun and fine. They were a visual treat. But they never felt remotely like the story. Completely wrong flavor. Goofball cartoony Perlman was not any better in Hellboy than he was in Pacific Rim, fanboys be damned.

This reboot may be disastrous, but it sounds like the ideal casting and director. I'm excited.

Just finished Injustice year one, it reminds me a lot of Hickman's Avengers run where it's less about the team and more of series of character pieces that push this particular universe forward. That moment with Superman surrounding by his parents trying to excuse his actions was just great.

Onto year 2.
