I started Morrison's run at R.I.P. Still haven't read BG or B&S, but I've had no problems following it.

What issue does Green arrow become readable, and what do I need to know about the New 52 version that happened prior to that?
Start at 17. You don't need to know anything to follow it. Lemire takes a scorched Earth approach; #17 is practically a new #1.

It's a shame though because you are really missing out on a lot of story like the League of Heroes, Tim's interactions with damian, Bat-Mite, the Batman 666 timeline, Jokers rebirth etc.

Hmm, according to the solicits, things are not looking good for
Nightwing.

Anyone know whats up with [New Gotham Character?]
Catbird?

That is one awful name.

So I finished two books today and I don't have anyone to talk to about them so I might as well post my impressions of them and see how that goes.

First off I read Wonder Woman Vol 2: Guts, this went a lot better for me than the first volume mostly due to the help you folks gave me with understanding the characters. I am finding myself getting much more invested in the characters now which is nice. At times the art is absolutely fantastic. I think it was issue 10 when they were in hell and the use of white vs red blew me away. I opened one page and audibly said "wow". I find myself chuckling ever time they change Zola's tshirt, they are always so incredibly awful. I am not quite sure where they are going with the story but I finished the book feeling like the messenger was/is a complete dickhead :P. I think I will pick up the hardcover of Vol 3 in the store this week.

Kind of curious if the people who are currently up to date with Wonder Woman still enjoy it and find it to be of high quality.

Secondly I read Suicide Squad Vol 2: Balisk Rising. I really enjoyed the first volume and the second volume kind of continued in that same vein except for the fact that all of a sudden it feels like they don't know how to write Harley Quinn. After the end of the first volume it feels like they didn't know what to do with her so she is kind of meandering in volume 2 until near the end. The Harley/Harleen stuff went nowhere but I am fairly certain they will come back to it. I find its a light easy read that does not challenge me too much and sometimes I like that (I find that I have to work much harder to understand wonder woman), and there is the fact that I will read anything with harley in it.

Oh and regardless of what anyone says Harleys new 52 outfit/redesign will never be good. Such woeful shit. lol.

So two good books in my eyes and now I am currently set to start reading Chew vol 4.

Issue 17

Nothing

lol, what the hell happened before issue 17 that you all seem to hate it.

Harley statue, come home!

So getting me one of those. I am also getting the bombshells one as I think it looks awesome.

Yup. For some classy classic Harley, everybody should check out Batman Black and White #3. It's got a great Paul Dini story with classic Harley. Also, it's just an all around awesome collection of shorts!

lists pffffft!!

aint nobody got enough UNITY in their lists!!

It was just a garbage book. Ann Nocenti wrote it terribly, and Harvey Tolibao drew it even more terribly. Before her run, there were already two creative teams on it, and apparently neither of those were any good either. I barely remember what happened, but it was just bad.

Finished the Batman: The Black Casebook tpb tonight. I'd recommend it to anyone who enjoyed Morrison's run, its neat to see where he drew his inspiration from. Check it out.

Ah, right.

Well, just had a look at Oliver's twitter feed. He's talking about writing scripts for issue 11 and how Rodriguez is only one behind with artwork. Wonder if it's just a mistake in the solicits then.

Phew. FBP is great and needs to stick around for the Veritgo Resurrection.

You quoted the answer.

I read Vol 1 of Saga in 1 day. Just couldn't stop reading it was so good.

Took me 3 weeks to read Vol 2 and 3 of Green Arrow. Absolutely awful. The only thing I somewhat liked was the Hawkman tie in, but then it just ends because the arc concludes elsewhere

Saga vol 1 was incredible. Vol 2 was also fantastic. The current volume needs to go somewhere as it feels like nothing is happening.

That said, I can't wait for it each month. <3 Alana

I saw this bit that CBR confirmed Tim Seeley would be doing two issues of Talon. That supports the expectation that the title will be cancelled after March's issue 17.

... I said this months ago.

Don't worry man, it's not a competition, I was just trying to start a discussion point on what people would think of that happening, not define who said it first on the net. If you said it months ago, then that adds creedence to the theory, right?

Kind of curious if the people who are currently up to date with Wonder Woman still enjoy it and find it to be of high quality.

I'm glad you enjoyed it, I loved that volume. I wrote about it a month or so ago actually, and someone responded that I was the only one they had ever heard of enjoying the hell arc in volume 2, but I specifically reaaally enjoyed it, lots of great fun. I definitely think the backbone of the book depends on getting all the mythology references though, part of why I loved the Hell arc was it felt there was something little every few pages to go "oh wait no way that's ____!" I am a little more up to date in terms of trades as I've read volume 3, but I don't read monthly. I still absolutely love the book, and it easily sits in my top 3 new 52 books, it really stands against any book on my list, cape or not. I think I still rank volume 2 as the particularly highlight of the run so far, but I'd put 2 & 3 above volume 1. Just great, clever, compelling storytelling, with great art.

Comixology are doing a Top Shelf sale and there's some pretty great stuff for cheap. Including the recent League of Extraordinary Gentlemen volumes, From Hell, Alec and Essex County.
I also picked Box Office Poison the last time it was on sale and would definitely recommend it.
And by cheap, I mean these are 4 bucks so if you're into digital and are willing to try something else, go ahead.

Alternatively, they have a Morrison Superman sale with ASS and AC.

Edit: people might not like AC but issue 13 was fantastic.

Really wanted to get Gingerbread Girl, Scene But Not Heard, March: Book One and We Can Fix It. Thank you, based Comixology. Anyone read Matt Kindt's Super Spy? Yay or nay on buying that, too?

I'll be getting Wraith eventually! I kind of want to read NOS4R2 first though, I feel like that makes the most sense.

In his defence, he has in the past said that he considers himself a comic writer first and a novelist second, so maybe he agrees with you. I really liked Horns but I suspect I'm going to absolutely love Locke & Key
when I finally start reading it. Still waiting for the final hardcover!

Also I'm seeing a few people picking up Umbral. It looks like a really cool book, I'm looking forward to reading everyone's thoughts on that one.

I'd definitely read NOS4R2 first. I imagine they'll do their best to give context, but I bet there'll be lots of nice little nods in it too from the book. Haha, don't get me wrong, I like Heart Shaped Box and NOS but I think they can be a little on the nose at times, he doesn't leave some of the horrible things enough to the imagination, and it feels la little wrong or try hard as a result. I think Horns is unbelievable though, there are few books I felt as emotionally invested in and even upset by than Horns by the time I got to the end. when a piece of fiction can make you feel that way, it's really something special.

Also, LOCKEANDKEYLOCKEANDKEYLOCKEANDKEYLOCKEANDKEY. So good.

Umbral, I'm excited by, but also worried by. I was a huge fan of wasteland but when Mitten left the book abruptly it really killed it for me, and it's hard to know he won't do it again with this. I'll likely wait a good bit into the run before I jump on, I'd hate to invest 2/3 years into a book for that to happen again.

Essex County is great stuff if you haven't read it yet. Might be my favorite of Lemire's creator owned stuff.

Hnnng. It's the only one of his creator owned stuff I've not read, I need to fix that. The Nobody and Underwater Welder are so freaking good.

Saw this on Bendis' Tumblr yesterday which made me LAUGH:
mageofmind asked: Why did you kill Victoria Hand?

Because I wasn’t interested in anyone else writing her.

Oh well :)
How pathetic.

Everyone kill off their characters so Bendis can't ruin them.

Well, except for Swamp Thing and Animal Man, Dial H,and Demon Knights. Didn't buy those. In hindsight Demon Knights sounds like it was cool.

Demon Knights was awesome, really sad that one ended. Swamp Thing and Animal Man have had highs and lows. They started off great then rot world DRAGGGED, now Swamp Thing is back to being awesome, and Animal Man is alright.

Seriously you bought Hawk and Dove you could have bought Demon Knights.

AWWWWW YEEEAAAHHHH!!
