Also, this has been a solid page of comics discussion. Way to step up our game, guys.

And sorry for totally blowing it by not adding some comics discussion of my own here.
I only managed to read one issue of Manhattan Projects today even though I intended to read a ton.

Although, actually, I lied. I guess I do have a bit to discuss.
I'm really liking the emerging themes of
duality and people not being who they appear to be
in Manhattan Projects. I love how the
Roosevelt AI says something offhand about how there are three people who aren't who they appear to be. Obviously two are Einstein and Oppenheimer, but the third one has yet to be revealed.
Hickman is just doing a lot of really awesome stuff in Manhattan Projects. I've been thoroughly entertained so far.
Have you read East of West at all?

I recently read through the first volumes of EoW and MP, and couldn't decide what was better. Hickman is on top of his game and has another creator owned book coming out in January. Dude is a monster along with his Marvel stuff.

Probably my favorite writer right now.

Nah. I'm probably going to bail.

We can make our own OT where we only discuss stuff like browsing cheap real estate for fun and going to the zoo and jobs. We'll call it "Private Message |OT| Please respect the privacy. We're going on honor system here."

Man, that new Mignola Hellboy avatar I'm really excited about is on my desktop and I've been on my laptop all day so I haven't gotten to change it yet. I could turn on my desktop, but that'd be so much work.

I have not! I was thinking about picking up the OHC if/when it comes out but couldn't get a good sense of what people thought about it.
I'm glad to hear you like it just as much as MP though! I definitely like the premise of EoW and I like Dragotta's art a lot, so I'll very likely pick it up sometime.

It was surprisingly good. Marvel seems to do well in creating youth team books but they never seem to last. It's a shame

They need to destroy something during these events...might as well make it the new kids.

PS: I didn't vote again...I haven't read Harley yet...I only get my books twice a month!

Sooooooooo, I posted this in the OCTOBER 2013 THREAD by mistake. I was wondering why Messi posted his awkward Olivia Wilde gif right after. Jesus, don't know how the hell I managed to do that. I think I googled "Neogaf comics october" (forgetting that it's november) instead of searching on Gaf and clicked the first thing I saw. Oops.

Anyways, what do you guys think of Marvel Unlimited? I think it seems like a good deal, but I'm not sure how I feel about it being digital. Anyone here use it and have any thoughts on it?

Marvel Unlimited is a great value, especially if you get in during some sort of promotional offer during cons/christmas. Books are on a 6 month delay but updates aren't as on time as i would like. There are some fantastic full runs on there for you to read if aren't up to date.

Never used it personally, but it's a great deal if you're cool with the 6 month wait.

Oh, I didn't realize there was a 6 month delay. I'm not up to date AT ALL, but if I can't also get new books with the sub then I'd rather just buy physical collections of the runs I missed. Thanks for the info.

Give it a trial run by gifting yourself a month, so you don't get auto renewed if you don't like it. It's not perfect but if you want to speed through some runs (that are available) it is worthwhile. It's not a complete library by any means so some runs will be missing some issues.

They keep trying to throw in a figure with the Unlimited subscription at NYCC. I'm not falling for your Gold Ultron or Rocket Raccoon repaint Marvel!

I did fall for the 3 3/4 scale X-Force Archangel a few years ago though...remembered to cancel right away though so really I won.

One issue in, and she only showed up in the last two pages, so we'll see.
Huh. I didn't even realize it had started yet, but I just saw the date for the first one so it caught me off guard. Seems pretty interesting based off Thor being female alone, so I might grab the 1st and 2nd issue when it comes out and see if I like it.

Speaking of new things, the Turtles/Ghostbusters crossover should be started, right? Did anybody ready any yet? Definitely curious to see how that turns out because it seems like an odd one, but I've been loving Turtles so I'm optimistic.

I picked up the new Marvel Legends set from Target a few days ago. Cap is better than expected even though he's just a repaint of a figure that was heavily packed a few series ago.

Better color scheme on this one and he doesn't have the ugly thigh holster left over from the Toybiz Punisher body years ago.

Ms. Marvel is just a straight repaint of the Moonstone figure from the SDCC Thunderbolts box set a few years back but is a very welcome addition to the display. She's definitely getting replaced by the current costume version they are putting out in a few months though.

Radioactive Man is the real selling point of the set as the figure was shown a while ago and then pushed back when the Jubilee Build-A-Figure wave changed to an all X-Men set for Toys R Us. I'm not sure if casting him in clear plastic was the way to go, so I've been adding some green washes to him to bring out the detail and repainting the eyes.

Target should have them out on shelves now for 50.00. They've been available online for a bit but probably better to get one in person as there's some inconsistencies in the paint around the sides of Ms. Marvel's uniform and the boot tops.

Hopefully they can find a wave to put the Batroc and Tiger Shark that were shown along with Radioactive Man in one of the Avengers 2 sets.

The 2nd issue should give some insight to the tone of the book. I'm hopeful, though. A female Thor seems like it could be interesting. I expect they'll draw out the mystery of who she is, but they've confirmed that it's someone who Thor has saved in the past.

Ms. Marvel #9: I don't really like the direction the story has taken, mainly the introduction of wolverine into the book for two issues to fight a giant croc, then a giant robot, both inventions by ...The Inventor, who really isn't that interesting to begin with. Kamala's parents are always scared for her and complainy, her friend is always friendzoned and worried about her, there's just a lack of a certain compelling dynamic to this book ever since
she was shot by by her friend's cousin/brother/guy.
Random score of 6/10, bonus points for the art.

How does Comics-GAF feel about Ms. Marvel going forward? After 9 issues, do you think its developed well?

Post Civil War list.

BATMAN ETERNAL #31 $2.99
DETECTIVE COMICS #36 $3.99
GOTHAM ACADEMY #2 $2.99
GRAYSON #4 $2.99
NEW 52 FUTURES END #27 (WEEKLY) $2.99
SUPERMAN UNCHAINED #9 $4.99
BIRTHRIGHT #2 $2.99
GOD HATES ASTRONAUTS #3 CVR A BROWNE (MR) $3.50
NAILBITER #7 (MR) $2.99
ROCKET RACCOON #5 $3.99

Chris Burnham and Tim Seeley were talking online about Grayson #4. Burnham liked it a lot and Tim thanked him and Grant for Spyral. Guess we will get some of that next issue.

Does that mean the people who have a problem with statues and such will stop posting them?

The only problem with statues is that they are expensive and I don't have room for more of them That's where people posting lots of pictures of their statues comes in.

I think a lot of the characters are very one-dimensional except for Kamala. She has a lot of layers but they're being peeled away so slowly. It's still a fun read but I'm not expecting much of it at this point.

Amazing Spider-Man #9
The Humans #1
Rocket Raccoon #5
Tooth & Claw #1

Adventure Time OGN 4: Bitter Sweets

I'm super excited to see your write up of the original Suicide Squad. Ostrander did some amazing stuff in that series, and I rarely see anyone here talk about it (other than ViewtifulJC's aforementioned usual suspects). There were a few issues that were tough to leave off my desert island list.
ahhh, Suicide Squad. I was doing a read through of the Ostrander stuff a few months back and I got derailed by SDCC and other things. I need to get back on the train, I was using Michel Fiffe's Reading List, and I stopped at the Invasion parts, featuring early Todd Macfarlane art. This list also includes early Rob Liefeld and Erik Larsen stuff as well. None of them hold a candle to Luke McDonnell yet though
I'm only up to #10 but I am really enjoying it so far. The cover of #10 is straight up amazing, one of my new favourites:
10 is like my favorite issue so far, it's dope. I think that made my Desert Island list
We should just make a separate thread for Gambit. I've long felt all his fans need to be quarantined off.
I agree with the first part, disagree HARD on the second part. Once the movie with Channing Tatum comes out, people will realize.
Oh yeah, how's the new Thor run? The one with the female Thor?
Russell Dauterman slays on the book, but #1 was basically a #0 issue. I'm gonna buy it in trades i think

So is The Wicked + The Divine still good? I'm pulling it, but haven't read past issue #2 just 'cause. Wondering if I should continue, trade wait, or stop completely, haha.

oh yeah, list

Tech Jacket #5
God Hates Astronauts #3
Deadpool: Art of War #2
Tooth & Claw #1

It's still good, it slowed down after #1 which lost some people here but #5 picked things up again. Vol 1 comes out on the 12th for $10, if you don't have all the issues you may as well wait. If you do... then yeah read those

I'm wondering that myself, and I've read all five issues. XD

I'm gonna give it a couple more issues, then I'll drop it if it doesn't wow me by then.

Last two issue didn't "wow" you?

Shit man I can't imagine what Gillen must burn again to lit your hype then. I'll just drop the book if that kind of "tryhard" didn't make impression to me lol

Well the 3 console collection is complete. Snagged a Xbox one SO bundle. Feel free to add me on XBLA. Gamer tag:TheDarkKnight
Kind of proud I got that gamer tag when XBL was created ;)

In other news I bought translucid #2-5 and teen dog #1 in the CMX Boom comics sale. Hope they're good

This Baba Yaga creature seems to be haunting me. She turned up with her chicken leg house in Hellboy (which I was reading last month). Then she turned up in my Sandman re-read last week. Went to watch John Wick and everyone refers to him as Baba Yaga in the movie. Then I re-read Fables 3 yesterday, and there she is again.

If I stop posting, you know what happened.

Daylight Savings kinda fucked me up, its suppose to be 7:18 damnit. I feel the strange urge to post Greg Land comics

Edit:
Oh, and when you figure out at the end of the first issue that every time Oppenheimer says "Hmmmm" he's listening to one of his many multiple personalities (which presumably came from the souls of the people he cannibalized; brilliant).

So how far are you into the hardcover? There is so much cool shit that goes down in those first ten issues, but I don't want to accidentally spoil anything for you. Oppenheimer is one of the most delightfully twisted characters in that book. The issues that focus on him are some of my favorites in the series, especially issue 20. Hopefully the second hardcover comes out next year so you and Filthy Slug (and whoever else checked out the hardcover) don't have to wait forever between releases.

Are those Alien/Predator/Etc. : Fire and Stone books that some of you are pulling good?

This first Event with the Massive Crossover between Prometheus, Alien, Predator and AvP which also reboots the Comic Universe sounds very cool.
