I dropped Veil after three issues I think. I just couldn't get into the "world" being built. Definitely bummed as Rucka's stuff usually resonates really well with me.
It took a weird turn there. I still don't know what to make of it honestly.

I think I've already said how bummed I was that C.O.W.L. wasn't a turn of the century book about plucky workers using their powers to take back the means of production, but I'll reiterate: MAN, I'd totally read a book that's all about turn of the century marxist superheroes fighting evil and capitalism.
Veil was only a five-issue mini, but it's a "part one" so there could be another volume on the way.
Man, I keep forgetting about Marvel Unlimited! I've had it for a year, and almost never use it since I always end up buying the comics in physical format haha.
Lazarus, over at Image.
I know he's writing Lazarus but I don't know what else he's doing off the top of my head
Stumptown, the ongoing edition, over at Oni Press. Lazarus at Image. Plus the webcomic Lady Sabre & the Pirates of the Ineffable Aether.
I just got my ArtFX+ Rocket Raccoon / Groot figure / statue, and holy fuck is it insane what they charged for it, considering how big it is. It's cool, but man.
Hey man you're throwing off the balance of comic GAF by posting about action figures. We should be looking for parallels in comics to the socialist movement.
XD
They're comic figures. It's related. It's not like I posted a pic of it or anything.
oh, wait.
It's not even 4.5" to the top of Rocket's head. :O

With that said, that statue is disappointing. Lol
Whew, glad I passed on that one.
That Nova is fantastic if you can find it, every store is loaded up with Star-Lord and Nobody Asked For This GOTG Iron Man. (even though he's a pretty good figure)

Haaa...
I was on a Guardians of the Galaxy high when I ordered it. I think it was shortly after the movie came out. 1/10 is just a terrible scale, which is why I only buy 1/8 or larger. 1/6 is the bees knees.
I just realised now that there is no JEEEAAAAN.
I'm not sure if doing Groot/Rocket combo like that was better or worse than doing a separate Rocket with a giant gun and still charging full price. It's not like it'll look good if they put out the rest of the Guardians this way.
Well, I don't know if anyone actually likes Jean's early 90s outfit. Might be why she's not in it.I just realised now that there is no JEEEAAAAN.
Either way, I guarantee that all of these Summer 2015 teasers are for some big hey-look-how-fucked-up-the-multiverse-is event. The most likely possibility seems to be if they're going to dedicate an issue to each of these teasers. Pretty much blatantly copying Multiversity.
Thanks!. I should get around to Stumptown once I finish reading Queen & Country.
In fairness, the Multiversity was the closest thing to Half-Life 3 in terms of vaporware in comics. I honestly can't believe it actually came out, and there are three issues of it people can buy right now. Now all we need is Wonder Woman: Earth One and we're in business.
I just realised now that there is no JEEEAAAAN.
Yup.
Just finished Gates of Gotham. For those that don't know, pre n52 story by Snyder and Higgins with script by Higgins. With the Architect showing up in Eternal, I wanted to learn more about him and this was the place. I was pessimistic about Higgins doing the script but actually it's probably the best thing I have read by him.
This is pretty much an origin of Gotham City. Without saying too much, it tells the tale when the power families of Gotham mix up with other people wanting that power. Way more to it but I would ruin the story. Each chapter has a split storyline of the events in the late 1800s and the present. Both stories are equally engaging with each character getting the proper treatment. It's a Dick Batman story and it involves Cassandra, Tim, and Damian also. All the characters are spot on. I don't want to give away the plot but it's really good. The artwork by Trevor McCarthy is fantastic.
Doctor Strange is one of those heroes I have very little knowledge of, and with the recent movie announcement, I wanted to seek out some comics. There isn't a whole lot of solo stuff, I know he's in the New Avengers and people love that, but I wanted more of a "history of Stephen Strange" thing to get a feel for the character.
Forgot I had the Doctor Strange Season One until I was dusting last night, so it was the perfect thing to get started on. Still in the beginning, as I've just brought it to work with me, but I can say that Emma Rios's art seems extremely fitting for the panels and direction they seem to want to take things. I know that that he's been in Uncanny X-Men via cameos, and I remember an issue where he was in Fearless Defengers but I'm interested to see what all the fuss is about with him![]()
I'd certainly recommend Stumptown. The first two arcs are cool modern detective yarns, with some thrilling action sequences. There's a car chase that Matthew Southworth fucking slays in the second volume. It's so slick, and the way he executes the climax of it... the composition and coloring... it's that perfect cinematic moment where time slows and you just have to catch you breath.
That sounds really cool! I'll definitely add it to my IST wishlist.
At the end of the X-Statix omnibus there's a mini where Doctor Strange is essentially the main character. I really enjoyed it and it got me really wanting to check out other Doctor Strange stuff.
Unfortunately, you can't read it unless you've read X-Statix because it would spoil some stuff. Read X-Statix already!![]()
So I gotta do that cause I'm so hyped. If you're in the area, make Sterling Silver Comics your local comic store, because it has the best logo ever, because I designed it, and also it has the best owner ever, Mikey "Mike" Sterling.

I wish I lived there.
Thank you for this! Glad to see the BKV story on there, as that was the next one I was eying. Bummer to see you didn't enjoy, it's still too early on for me to have much on an opinion on the story. It's Rios's art that's the stand out so far.I can't vouch for all of this being on Unlimited but I feel like a good portion of it is - http://www.denofgeek.us/books-comics/doctor-strange/236250/reading-doctor-strange-where-do-you-start
So Dr Strange Season One was all kinds of disappointing to me. Planet Hulk has given Greg Pak a forever free pass from me, but man that book was just so bland and paint by numbers. If it wasn't for Emma Rios' art (she was a perfect fit for a Strange book) it would have been completely forgettable.
Glad I cancelled this and my Sideshow order. Just not worth the $$. Speaking of statues though, when the heck is the Zatanna Bombshell and Wonder Woman ArtFx statue coming out!?I just got my ArtFX+ Rocket Raccoon / Groot figure / statue, and holy fuck is it insane what they charged for it, considering how big it is. It's cool, but man.

I loved the 90's Jean! Gimme that Jim Lee 90's outfit yo!Well, I don't know if anyone actually likes Jean's early 90s outfit. Might be why she's not in it.

Oh, thought Zatanna was this month.
I don't know who to believe now. DC says 12/17, TFAW says 11/26. Pick one, I guess.
Yes. And it's a really good series. I like Terry Moores other series but it's still great. His take on horror is unique as it still focuses on great charactersAnyone reading or read Rachel Rising? If so, thoughts?
This is the Top Ten Bleeding Cool Bestseller List, as compiled by a number of comic stores from their sales on Wednesday and Thursday. It measures what are known as the Wednesday Warriors, those who cant wait to the weekend to get this weeks comics. We salute you, and the keenness you bring to your passion.
The facts speak for themselves. While there was a varied performance from store to store, in the end the $4.99 Harley Quinn Annual topped the Bleeding Cool Bestseller List for the week, the first time weve had an annual do that.
Harley Quinn Annual #1
Batman Eternal #30
Guardians of the Galaxy #30
All New X-Men #33
Saga #24
Wonder Woman #35
Deadpool/Captain America #1
Earth 2: Worlds End #4
The New 52: Futures End #26
Wolverine & The X-Men #11

Berserk and Vinland Saga are definitely two books that would appeal to most folks here.
I haven't read Berserk in a couple years, think I'll give it another three before I pick up again.
So slow.
The New Avengers Annual was a great one-and-done Dr. Strange story, if you can find it. Frank J. Barbiere and Marco Rudy put in a really impressive story about the sacrifices Strange has to make to be the Doctor, and how that bolsters his kind-of-outcast status.
It's funny you mention X-Statix because I was going to post about the issue I read last night and then fell asleepIt's 122 I believe, and it's basically the one where you get a little bit of history on Tike and his upbringing. So sad, but it made me appreciate his character more. I did like how
Was quite cute :3he vouched for Lacuna and then she did her whole "stopping time" and kissing him bit.
Anyone reading or read Rachel Rising? If so, thoughts?
Jesus, I get sick for a few days and now I have 20 pages to catch up on... we're going to have another record breaking thread on our hands this month! I thought maybe last month's was a fluke thanks to all of those Marvel announcements.
Harley Quinn cannot be stopped.
On the subject of Batman, I think Eternal might finally be losing me. It's starting to get boring. I don't know if it's the current arc, or if I'm just Batman'd out from the weekly release schedule. I'll give it a few more issues to see if it picks up again, but thisbusiness needs to be over quick. I'm still totally down with the main series, though.Hush
Yeah, about that...
Every time I look at comic sales, I just get bummed out to see what's selling and what isn't in this industry.

I'm ridiculously behind on Berserk...like i'm only up to vol 13..
