It is now time for my quick reviews of this week's new Marvel Unlimited issues. Hot new opinions of 6 month old comics!

All-New X-factor #7 - Finally a strong issue from PAD. Its always weird i keep reading books i know are canned but whatevs. With the team FINALLY formed, they go off and due things that remind me more of his previous X-factor runs with fun twists and turns. This is what issue #1 should have been about. Still hate those unis tho. It was funny the cats are still hanging all over Gambit ;)

Amazing #1.1 - Uh..why is this comic here? Talk about a momentum killer after coming off his Superior Spidey run. Did anyone really want to go back to the early years? Good enough read, but i'm starting to see why there is Slott spidey rumblings. Even though i've really enjoyed his run so far

Black Window #6 - Another solid comic. It never has high highs, or low lows. Its almost like Brubakers Cap, just a couple steps down. I want them to take the series up a level or two

Cyclops #1 - Finally after reading all the jokingly over praise of this series I read this issue! I'm a huge huge Rucka fan and once again he doesn't disappoint. A good setup for a first issue. I hope the start jammers still show up later. Also is this the first time Rucka won't sneak in a female character that becomes the secret main character?

Magneto #3 - well this was dark, and Magneto being overly harsh and a tad hypocritical but hey thats somewhat true to his character at times

Miles Morales: Ultimate Spider-man #1 - Ugh for the first surprise reveal at the start, and ugh ugh at the second one at the end. Its also ironic since once they put Miles in the name of the title is when Bendis starts to want to move the spotlight away from him. We'll see how this pans out

Moon Knight #3 - Nice art, simple story but that moon knight ghost fighting armor was cool looking

New Warriors #4 - Fun conclusion of the original wrap up. Kain is one of the highlights of the book

Punisher #5 - decent enough. If it wasn't "free" i'm not sure if id still be reading

She-Hulk #4 - A fun issue. Doom jokes and humor always makes me laugh

Original Sin #1 - Ok i guess. I'm still not sure why this was an event and the team ups picked here are...unique

P.S. My White Xbox One arrived, and MCC is pre-ordered. Gamertag: TheDarkKnight

Good impressions, Rucka has left Cyclops as of last month.

You'll want Nova for Thanos Imperative. Everything else, you can just read the ongoings.

Sigh ok. Nova is kind of boring to me. It's the same thing every issue. Nova gets hot headed about something and wants to rush in, nova prime tells him don't do it, he does it anyway and gets into trouble and then bickers with nova prime for the next 5 pages before a solution presents itself. And it's like that every. Single. Issue.

Yea i know. I'm still adjusting to this MU style reading. I'm reading runs that i know creators have moved on, or cancelled. But its saving me a decent amount of money and i get to read more books than i normally would. Of course then all that money i saved seems to go to IST orders and CMX sales! So there's that

Nova lost me after about 10 or so issues. I was fine with only reading the last...I think 5 issues that lead up to Thanos Imperative. Hell, it might have been less. It was basically the last arc and then a sudden end that leads into Thanos Imperative. You'll be fine just reading Guardians. There are War of Kings tie in issues, but I'm not sure if you HAVE to be reading War of Kings for them to make sense. I don't think you do.

you were late to the shulkie party. :(

So Death of Wolverine was pretty weaksauce, Logan Legacy has been pretty much shit. The Captain America and Deadpool tie-in on the other hand was fantastic.

So I asked this in the IRC channel, but thought it might make for solid discussion here:

Who do you all think DC will choose to take over writing duties on Batman once Snyder is done with the series? It's hard to come up with a realistic short-list like we did for The Amazing Spider-Man, but most of us said James Tynion IV.

I'd think it would be Ann Nocenti or James Tynion

Geoff Johns, so Batman can get the shit kicked out of him every issue only to be saved by like Hal Jordan or some shit

But yeah probably JT4 or whatever

I know you're joking but I highly doubt Nocenti will ever get the chance to write on a real series again.

Poor Klarion

(I was originally going to joke that Nocenti would be wasted on a throw-away title like Batman, but I was worried someone might take offense to my poor attempt at humor.)

As far as I know, you just kind of need to be following the news sites and keep up with it to know for this one. To answer this one specifically, yes Wolverine and the X-Men is now ending in February and being replaced. I know a lot of LCS give out checklists, but I don't know if most places put out event and book checklists online with any regularity.

Thanks to you and Tyrant Rave. I will check with my shop to see about a checklist and of course the news sites. This thread moves fast.

Does anyone have any experience with Silver Age sleeves and boards with modern comics?

I voted, but I think something was wrong with the machine I used. For the last two months I've seen ad after ad after ad for candidates running against President Obama, yet when I got into the voting booth Obama's name was nowhere to be seen.

Was this not a presidential election?

Make sure you all vote Robo-Raptor in 2016.

Today I took my car in for service and while I waited I brought my iPad with all the issues of Black Science on it-I read them all and I'm blown away. What an incredible book! Sex Criminals didn't really interest me, but this book is my exact type of sensibility. Amazing artwork too that perfectly captures the tone of the series.

On to Outcast next.

Yeah, I didn't see this "Obama Democrat" person anywhere. They kept talking about him on TV and I got 5 fliers a day warning me that he was the greatest evil facing America today.

I never realized that county Freeholders had so much power or were willing to waste so much money on giant fliers that don't fit in my mailbox.

FFFFUUUUUUU

I want those Image Casanova hardcovers, but they keep getting delayed. The three volumes are currently slated for 11/19, 12/3, and 12/17. Knowing Image, I don't expect that to stick.

Yeah it's a shame :/ I really wanted to pick up the first volume last month to see if it lived up to the hype in here but I have to wait

Yes Jedeye, I want to buy more

I have the option of going to a signing with Fraction + Deconnick and reserving a copy of the new Casanova HC early, as it's on the 12th. So even if it does get delayed, I may have a copy still!

Do it for Zombine

And I hope to see more of you guys in the IRC that was posted tomorrow. I'm going to bed now but before I got off, it was just BuddyJoe, frye, PsychBat, and I and there was some good talk going on. Some nice and laid-back discussion that was just super solid to read. Earlier in the night when more people were on, we talked about all kinds of things and it was a good time through and through. I know this place has been kinda tense lately so I think it's a good way to cool off and help us all mellow out. We're all friends here and I really want to see everyone feel welcome to post here.

.....Did you just write a review of a chat room session? :D

Harley Quinn (and many DC characters) will be appearing in one of the games I work on (Puzzle & Dragons).

That's very well done! I am excited because that's a collab we will actually get.

I'm going to do the right thing and try Arkham Asylum again.

Kipp

but I am taking tiny steps forward

I didn't really like how it had multiple writers. It made the plot quite hard to follow. I think Chat Session would've been better with just one man behind the wheel. Matt Fraction would've done a good job, probably.
I think my copy was misprinted as well, since there was no art. Or maybe they were going for a Moon Knight thing with all that white space.

All in all though, it was a fun read. Random 8/10

Ugh, comics are confusing sometimes. Is the "Grayson: Future's End #1" (the one with the holographic cover) different from "Grayson #1"? How are these related?

It is, it's the same character, one happens in a weird dystopic future where's everything fucked for reasons while the other happens in the present and everything is also fucked, for reasons. Though it's incredibly well done, you don't need to read Future's End, it's a tie-in to something bigger and dumber. If you were to though, it goes after Grayson #1.

Also: finally bit the bullet on buying Kill Your Boyfriend, and, it's totally about Literally Grant Morrison being a bad influence, right?

Got my Note 4 set up and ready to get my comics on.
Moon Knight looks SO GOOD on it! :D
I'm going to go back and re-read Ultimate Spider Man, but I need some new stuff to check out. Marvel or DC is fine, just as long as it is easy to get into. Thanks!

Oh, and the Borderlands comics? Pretty fantastic first two issues so far. They take a different approach to Pandora and the characters, showing how they interact as a group rather than just assuming it all. Some characters' personalities are different, but they work fine as a way to introduce the series to newcomers.
EDIT: There's a Dead Island comic? Hmm...
Anyone here played the games or read this yet?
