Yep. It's the worse thing you can hear when describing an omnibus, among others.
I own all the floppies, but I gotta say, I am really impressed with The Sixth Gun hardcover. I really hope we get more. Oni can just knock it outta the park sometimes.
Ok, thanks. I'll probably skip "Future's End" then. Other than I don't really care know anything about or care about the event it is tied to, I also think the holographic cover looks like butts.
Outside of the Forever Evil event, was there any other issues that lead up to the beginning of Grayson? I guess the last few Nightwing issues?
Amazing Spider-Man #9
A huge, huge step up from the past eight issues, easily. Coipel's art is probably my favorite in the business, and every page he draws is a wonder to look at. Now that Spider-Verse is officially under way, seeing Peter getting the chance to interact with characters like Miguel, Mayday, Ben and Kaine is great, and I love pretty much everything about the ensemble. The Morlun Family continues to kinda suck and be boring, and Slott's killing off of random Spiders for shock value is still pretty annoying (
Only a handful of them this issue, but at least one notable pre-established one that might ruffle some feathers.
I also really like that even though they got canceled, the New Warriors
are still willing to fight to defend Kaine from Daemos because he's one of them now- even if they are all knocked out off panel.
Seeing Kaine's brief use of The Other continues to be really cool, and I can't wait for that Yost-written Spider-Men team book to spin out of this.
I still believe.
Avengers and X-Men: Axis #4
I guess the real elephant in the room with this book is now readily apparent, at least for my personal taste. As much fun as I've had with the Inversion changing traditionally villainous characters into heroic versions, it's going to be such a goddamn drag to read about heroic characters acting like massive dickbags. On one hand, stuff like
Carnage-Man flying into a hostage situation to save the day and leave joking notes infringing on Spider-Man's schtick
is radical and fun, but on the other hand we also have to put up with
Uncle Sam's first major story arc as Captain America revolve around wanting to murder Charles Xavier and fight a war with the X-Men, who have now allied with Apocalypse.
There are still some huge pacing issues, but on the whole, I'm on-board to the end, I just wish there was more villain fun and less heroes acting like scumbags.
Legendary Star-Lord #5
Whelp, not muh Star-Lord continues, leaving me questioning why I'm still bothering to support Cosmic Marvel. It'd be so much easier if I could just let go of shit like this, but I can't. So instead, I'm going to keep reading about characters acting totally unlike themselves without sufficient character explanation but lol who cares because no one liked him before the movies amirite? This week's book begins the build up to another shitty Bendis crossover with a bunch of other shitty Earth stuff because it's not Guardians of the Galaxy unless they're revolving around Earth shenanigans. Bahumbug.
The New 52: Future's End #27
Alright, this was the best issue of Future's End in a while, though I might just be feeling that way because I love the story threads they chose to follow this week. We get more Terry/Plastique heist stuff, more based Cal just wants to be left alone, more
Green Arrow army
, more Lois Lane: Batshit Reporter and a little Slade-Cole bickering. I know I'm in the minority around here, but I continue to love the absolute hell out of this book, and it's one of the few DC books each week to really captivate me and hold my attention throughout, while still making me desperate to read next week's issue. Great, great book.
Rocket Raccoon #5
As much as I continue to love Skottie Young's art, I really, really don't think this issue was worth paying for. When Fraction's Hawkeye did the whole special issue that tells the narrative visually, it at least had a really interesting story to actually tell and really took advantage of it. Here, it just felt like a lame gimmick being used to pad out a book without actually having to fill in any meaningful content- it's a real bummer of a book this week.
Spider-Verse Team-Up #1
Based Spider-Ham is based. The first story in here, the Last Stand Spider/Spider-Ham/Ben Reilly team-up was a really, really fun read and did a lot to establish the kind of personality we'll see from the new Reilly before he gets to bro it up with Kaine. The second story, following six armed Spider-Man and Noir, was much less interesting to me. For one thing, I really didn't like
Noir wanting to execute that world's Peter Parker- after all, he promised Aunt May he wouldn't kill anymore after the first Noir mini-series
That aside, this was an enjoyable side-piece to this week's Amazing Spider.
Grayson 4 was pretty good. I like these one and done stories that still reference the previous issue. Even though it's a one and done, it still manages to tell more with the art and the themes presented. Still a great book.
Didn't read Death of Wolverine: Weapon X Programm #1, but haha, is this spoiler true?
The issue starts after Logan rekt some shit, gets covered in adamantium and a character called "Sharp" wakes up. He escapes with other experiments, they start talking and the Sharp guys takes of his mask and it's a Wolverine? Or a guy with Logan's face? Come the fuck on Mahvel.
Read:
Death of Wolverine: Life after Logan #1
I know I know, it's easy, but I kinda liked the Cyclops segment of the story. Dude admits he's a douche, but they way he honors Logan is pretty damn cool. +1.
AXISAXISAXIS #4
Freaking terrible. I mean come on. Come on.
I guess Spidey and Daredevil are one of the few sane heroes left, (with Pete having the funniest line during the issue) but what the hell man. The Avengers are mega douchebags with Sam taking the lead, but come on: the Kluh? Get oooooout. A random Jarvis appears. Tony starts drinking again. Ugh. And what the fuck the X-Men. After Aaron left on Wolverine and the X-Men they're doing everything they can to make them unlikable douchebags. Joining up with Evan as the Apocalypse? Remender/Marvel pls. Terrible.
Amazing Spider-Man #9
A great kick-off for Spider-verse. First time since the Marvel Now relaunch I'm liking the series.

So do they actually explain what the inversion is and why it's happening, or do they just expect you to roll with it? That was the aspect of the event I felt was most sketchy, when talking about it Remender was like "so then inversion happens and BAM good guys are bad and bad guys are good because reasons and it would be cool!"

Wanda & Doom inverted the Red Onslaught inside out by using Chaos & Order magic to get the Professor Xavier persona out of the Skull's mind. basically turning the skull from bad to good..
unfortunately this chaos magic also flipped the world on it's side, with stupid shit like the avengers & x-men becoming dickheads. Not enough order magic, I'm afraid.

Does anyone have any impressions or reviews of The Humans #1, which released today? I don't know anything about the creative team, but the premise and CBR preview sold me for at least an issue or two.
I mean, it looks like Planet of the Apes meets Wild Angels... and how can you not be enticed by this:
"The Humans is one long and twisted ride through biker gang warfare, drug running, corrupt cops, semi-truck hijackings, Vietnam flashbacks, Skin Fights (homosapien cockfighting), major ultra-violence, a strip club called The Forbidden Zone, and bloody vengeance."
Did anyone buy Cullen Bunn's Terrible Lizard? It sounds amazing.
The touching story of a girl and her T-Rex ... with a healthy dose of collateral damage and monster conflict on the side. When the scientists of Cosmos Labs punch a hole through time and space, they pull a ferocious dinosaur into the present. The dinosaur imprints on teenage Jessica, proving to be more mischievous than vicious. But he is not alone. Strangely mutated prehistoric monsters begin attacking our world. What's a girl and her dinosaur-fighting dinosaur supposed to do?
This looked like a lot of fun too, but it was sold out at Midtown Comics and my LCS doesn't always order books like this for their floppies shelves unless there's some kind of buzz around them.

I believe red skull fucked something with everyone's brain. It's the only reason i can think of for everyone in 616 suddenly acting like complete douchebags. Particularly Storm and Tony are way out of character here.

It's just the whole thing, the "adopt my tech if you really wanna be happy", and the douchiness of how he brings it up, he's a couple of read-throughs of the Fountainhead away from being on the path of Dark Enlightenment types. If at some point during Superior he goes full Justine Tunney, I called it.
Its such an awesome book. Bought the Paperback last week and read it three times since then.
I think I will place it at my desk at work and will show it to the dude who stole my Daredevil OHC for one day and hope he or shee will like it, too and buy the books afterwards
Out of curiosity, on a scale of Iron Man 2 to Guardians of the Galaxy, how good is Joss Whedon's Astonishing X-Men run? I've been meaning to get the trades for a while.
In other news, I did receive my Uncanny Avengers volume 2 and New Avengers volume 1 today. So good. I even got a free issue of Avengers A.I. #1 as a freebee. Isn't that series canceled?
I'd be surprised if it didn't. I mean, they made the switch to the thinner paper, and anything less than people standing outside Marvel's offices with torches and pitchforks makes them assume it's okay and well-received.
