No longer boycotting the Wolfenstein franchise
The first collection of Corto Maltese out in america (at least recently) is not a very fun read. I'm gonna soldier through but I'm assuming Hugo Pratt is better known for his later endeavors.
Hmm, really? I'd put this on my list as it sounded interesting and the whole series is apparently super well regarded in Italy. Hmm... maybe I'll move it down my priorities.

Random cool sketch cover I found by Pop Mhan who does DC's Masters of the Universe comic.

That is so great.

It's hard to believe this was the same guy that was doing Ghost Rider when he was dressed up in the clownish get up.

The guy improved drastically.

"If the thought of it seems crazy, you weren't crazy enough to begin with." Punisher MAX is awesome. Read 3 volumes, Mother Russia was the best so far. That final fight scene with the Mongolian, damn.

Gotham Academy #2: Outside of it being a DC book with girls in it, i'm not seeing why people here like it. The issue started getting a little better towards the end, especially Maps' line of
"i'm going to loot the crap out of this place" when they were investigating general spookiness
, but the book overall seems dull still. Not so random 4/10.

Lovely art, intriquing story and likeable characters and trying something new for dc. Maybe it's just not for you?

Walking Dead #133 and #134 - issue 134 might have been legit good and not just another issue. Both the
Carl fight scene and Jesus scene were intense. When reflecting on the incident, Jesus ends up not killing the one woman/person/whisper thing, though he wanted information, and Carl was going for the finishing moves. King Carl is almost upon us. My main gripe is the whole confrontation between Sophia and those two boys seemed a bit thrown in there.
Random 8.888/10

Good start for the monthly shipment reading. Time to embrace bad dc comics.

I'm pretty psyched, because Walking Dead is definitely setting up for
King Carl and this next arc is definitely going to be what kicks off his rise to power. Survivor reboot 3.0 incoming.

Hmmmm somewhat agree and disagree. It's probably not for me, I do like the art, but i don't think the story is intriguing in the slightest nor are the characters likeable. Maps is the typical mousy character who finally has some good lines outside of " hey sit with us! hey Kyle! you dated kyle! Hey let's walk around". There isn't any other character outside of Olive and Maps that really does anything...Pomeline kisses a guy that Olive tutored? Olive said hi to him, Olive pulled out a book and saw a boy whose eyes were read. The teaching staff has said little and done less. There isn't much substance in any department of this book and i think that's more than just preference. I need to prove that Comics-GAF has a girly hijinx bias, just need more evidence.

Or maybe people just like different things? Calling it bias is rediculous. Like only the Girly GAF group are enjoying it.

I wish Comixology would add an "add all issues" button to their collections and sales. I don't like having to manually buy each issue.

The X-Statix Omnibus contains all X-Foce Issues with the X-Statix Lineup?

So tempted to finally order it... Or maybe to wait until next week when my Extra Christmas Money arrives.

I love Ms. Marvel, and like many other book with female protag and their special hijink, I can't get into nu52 Harley for some reason.

I don't know if I'd count as having a girly hijinx bias but I'm really enjoying it. Plot seems to be moving at a good pace (worried they might rush the reveals though I like my mystery), story/setting is intriguing. Think so far dialog has been pretty interesting too, think there's potential there especially olive/maps.

There is on some pages. Just not all. I remember doing that with Doom Patrol and there was an add all to cart option for those issues. Seems to me that if you click through the sales banner on the main comixology page (e.g. just tried it with Mouse Guard) it gives you that option but not on other pages, which is weird. That or I'm blind.

No, I'm pretty sure you're correct. Kinda annoying how it does that.

I see JC is still tsundere for Harley

Is this the new (stupidly expensive) IDW thing?
Nonono, its printed by Universe (never heard of them)

http://www.amazon.com/dp/0789324989/?tag=neogaf0e-20

And its 250 or so pages. The second collection is by IDW though with the 140 pages (and its not out yet so it seems). Imma finish it this week and get back to the thread with my findings.

Issues 1-4 of The Auteur were fun. I wouldn't mind reading more ( got them for 50 cents a piece at a con last week, score).

Mother Russia was my favorite arc as well. It's just such a great action/thriller. Amazingly well done. I just reread it pretty recently and enjoyed it just as much as the first time.

Yes it does. It's 100% self-contained. It includes every appearance ever of the X-Statix characters in any comic (excluding the Doop appearances from the past few years, obviously). Definitely pick it up. I need to find time to reread it sometime soon.

How amazing was the art!? The writing, though it went a little too far at times in my opinion, was pretty hilarious, but the art stole the show in my opinion. It was just pure energy.

So is this series continuing or what I really enjoyed it a lot the art and the main character made it interesting every month.

Three Issues into Original Sin. Really like this Event so far, the Story is really good and Mike Deodato delivers insanely art. Dude should come back to Amazing Spider-Man, he is really one of Marvels best Artists.

Thinking about interupting the Main Event now and read the Hulk Vs. Iron Man Tie-In.
I only hate that I got spoilered about some details of the end of OS...

OK :D Damn, 35€ for an Omnibus is a No-Brainer anyway :D Will pick it up in the next days :D

Pax Americana single handily prevented digital from ever surpassing print.

Funny, I got Pax in print and it was so shittily printed that I've come to the conclusion that, actually, it's digital comics that deserve to be full price and print comics aren't worth the cover price. Shit paper, coloring that's about as solid as toilet paper, a deteriorating physical medium; it's just not even close to worth it. Digital comics are pure expressions of the medium. Print comics are compromised in every aspect of production. I'm not sure how anyone does it anymore, honestly.

I feel bad. I love comic book stores, but the product has really let them down.

have you checked out thriilbent, at all. Mark Waid's digital comics website. price on one comic you get 20!

some really cool stuff they do with panels

What the hell is going on in Justice League International. Guy Gardner is hilarious. Is he like that in all his appearances?

I am also surprised that the tpb cover has a speech bubble on it. I don't recall seeing that before.

ah yeah, that's the edition that everyone hates. I'm interested in the IDW reprints but yeah 30~ bux cover price over 12 volumes over how many number of years is holding me back a bit (a lot).

Well, then you should Trade/OHC/Omibuswait. None of those complains are an Issue on these formats, plus you dont have to wait before you book downloaded.

Just read the Preacher special about Cassidy. So great. One of my favorite issues.

One thing I really wish though is that they would've put the minis and specials in the correct order. They just kind of tossed them into the TPBs somewhat at random, so I've got to look at the reading order online and skip around the TPBs a bit to read them in the right order. It's not a huge deal since the specials and minis are all flashbacks and backgrounds and whatnot, but it still makes more sense if they're in the right order. For example, you wouldn't have the full context of the Cassidy special if you read it in the order it was in in the TPB (in the TPB, the special was before the issues that made up the New Orleans arc).

"As far as I’m concerned, what Alan and I did was the Watchmen graphic novel and a couple of illustrations that came out at the same time. Everything else – the movie, the game, the *laughs* prequels – are really not canon. They’re, they’re… subsidiary. They’re not really Watchmen. They’re just something different. May these new additions have the success they desire."

clearly a vote of approval

My friend has the Nowhere Men trade and even though the papers better the printing is just as dotty and poor.

It's funny, digital technology isn't just surpassing print, it's also making print worse. It's cheaper to print stuff faster and at lower quality.

Sad really.

Just read the Preacher Arseface special. Like most of the Preacher specials (excluding the Cassidy one), the writing wasn't as great as the main story, but Richard Case killed it on art. I mean, he was great in Doom Patrol, but seeing his art with more modern coloring/inking, it made me realize that I really, really like his style.

The point about effectiveness is well made but:

1) Axis has 21 pages -- 20 of "actual" art and 1 all-black. Daredevil's the one with that arguably uses the black page as "filler"

2) For all its faults, I don't think Axis's use of that first page is really one of them and I don't think it's as lacking in formalism as he suggests. The way we start off in the dark approximates the sense that we're listening without seeing (it is a radio broadcast after all).

I'm beginning to think ipad's screen is too small for comics now that i've seen the galaxy tab s 10.5''. Only problem is the tab's build quality is nowhere near as nice as the ipad line.

If Birdie trade-waited, he would ascend to a higher plane of existence. No more sanity, only hype now.

Also, I'll take waiting 30 seconds for a comic to download over waiting a week+ for online delivery. Book Depository is the slowest thing ever, and Amazon's delivery charges are extortionate (I can't get Prime in Ireland). I still buy trades, but it tends to be stuff I really liked and want to own. It's silly and backward but I still do it, although I do like having a bookshelf in the flat, it adds character. I'll get a few trades for Christmas since I'll be getting the new D&D Dungeon Master's Guide (I'm waiting for the Monster Manual in the post right now).

I need a new tablet next year anyway, the Nook HD+ is getting janky. Definitely thinking about a Tab S, maybe a Nexus 9 if they ever make it to Ireland. No SD slot would suck though for Humble Bundle books.
