Milo Manara has made definitive works in the field of pornographic comics, including his masterpiece "Click".

Frank Cho has made Savage Wolverine.

How cool would it be if, when they finally did a Vision HC, it actually looked like this ha?

That would be amazing to have under the dust jacket. I could see DC doing that (similar to the Planetary Omnibus under the dust jacket having the same design as the Planetary Guide in the book itself), but Marvel doesn't really seem to put much creativity into their OHC designs under the jacket. Usually just a random piece of art.

little brother is a die hard DBZ fan so I told him I wasn't going to buy xenoverse this week due to funds. little does he know the collectors edition is on its way to the house.

his mind is going to be blown. just saw the unboxing and the statue is probably the best looking dbz statue I have seen for 12 inches.

Reading more BPRD Hell on Earth. Just finished Exorcism, the first story about Ashley Strode. I've always loved Cameron Stewart's art so I really dug this little sidestory. It made for a nice change of pace to focus on an agent who is a little more reluctant, especially with her calling Kate so she could be taken off the mission.

Fuck Dust Jackets. We as comicgaf need to take a stance against them. Imagine the lovely image hardcovers being destroyed by dust covers

Oh wow you are an awesome brother man, nice one!

I just read this the other day actually, I really liked that story, she's definitely a cool character. Having an exorcist on the team alongside Johann would be funny too hah. I think she was off the table for a long time because they wanted to keep her for Stewart, like the vampire stuff with the ba and moon bros but I think she's up for grabs now, think he admitted he's just too busy for a universe that needs to keep ticking. Did you recognise the priest?

Oh I'm not a dust jacket fan, although I do like it when it allows for a standard cover AND a unique one like the Planetary Omnibus. I don't think they would have used the Planetary Guide cover as the main cover unfortunately.

Yay?

I don't know what to expect of these two. Will post impressions later.

haha yea.

Stuff like that comes back to you too, he'll remember.

Definitely man. And on subject, I too object to dustcovers in general. IDWs Locke and key HCs are probably the nicest HCs I own, and half of that is because they just have these really nice printed covers. A few of them have a placeholder ribbon too, which is awesome. My biggest gripe with dustcovers is when the text sounds even sit in the centre of the spine

I'm halfway through reading DC: The New Frontier for the first time (shame) and this is the greatest comic I've ever read.

I'm not 100% sure where you're at with some of the side stuff but if you've read the 1940s stuff you may remember him. Ill spoil tag in case.you've not read or would prefer to search yourself dude

he's the same guy who locked the vampires inside of Simon at the end of 1947!

So glad to hear it! It's my favorite comic. I have the singles and the deluxe edition. Would love to have the Absolute edition someday.

The John Wilson story was so unbelievably powerful. Big part of my proper entry to comics, actually. I had enjoyed the animated movie, and heard the book was really good, so I picked it up on a lark. Shockingly good.

I started the animated movie but it just felt so...abbreviated compared to the book. I'll go back and watch it all eventually though. Wasn't bad by any means.

Abbreviated is an okay way of thinking about it. They axed the John Henry Irons stuff though, which is incredibly unfortunate. I get that it was targeted more at kids, but c'mon.

Take pictures when it's time! He's going to be so happy! :D

I'm attending Comic Con Stockholm early next month btw.

You don't have to be afraid of saying you are a dust jacket fan, you are not alone, and we will take this country back.

I don't really get Black Panther, read through issue #3, but
why is T'Challa going after the woman firing up the uprising but is perfectly fine with letting all the things that the two women are out trying to stop continue? He seems incredibly focused on one thing while his country is a mess. They should make Trump king, what the hell do you have to lose people of Wakanda?

That's part of the point, though.
He's trying so hard to be the superhero, that he forgets he's the king. He loses sight of the big picture because he's too busy focusing on small pieces.

Personally, I dropped Black Panther. The story was dull (to me).

the black panther defense force is here. yah better come with some good arguments

Not new news really, information on it has been out for awhile, but spotted Jeff Lemire had put up a new blog post about his next OGN, coming next April. It's being sold as being form the writer of Essex County and The Underwater Welder (and I guess the secret path, haven't really saw much of that yet), so should give a little idea of what kind of thing he's going for with this one:

272pg hardcover, can't wait for this one. Still need to read Essex Conuty (stupidstupidstupid) but I love the underwater welder and his more thoughtful works in general.

Synopsis at the link if interested.

Ugh. We're watching phantom of the opera...girlfriend argued this fit with the october halloween theme. I mean, I guess it does but...this better be okay.

But it's exactly why that book can be a rough read. Not everyone is going to pick up a superhero comic expecting to get a political philosophy essay dropped on them.

yea that is why I don't give lashley a hard time over it. Not to mention this is a very different BP that what folks are familiar with. Can you imagine someone watching the movie and then trying to pick up #1. lol in for a rude awakening

I can imagine, but then again I also have no idea what that movie is going to be like.

I think BP rule is going to be challenged as the premise.

"Actor Chadwick Boseman revealed in an interview that he, director Ryan Coogler, and the entire Black Panther production team have been reading Coates’ book as a key influence for the upcoming Marvel film.

While Boseman warns that the film won’t follow the exact plot of Coates’s story arc, he says, “You definitely can tell that Ryan is reading Ta-Nehisi, and I’m reading Ta-Nehisi, and the producers are reading Ta-Nehisi. If we didn’t read what Ta-Nehisi is writing, we would be foolish.”
