COMICS |OT| September 2016. Comics Should Be Good.

I just realized that Nightwing #4 really pisses me off.
This means that the Monster Men happen because Dick didn't take Bruce's advice. It's literally Dick's fault and Bats gets to have an "I told you so." Bullshit. I knew they had Dick down pat too much that issue to think it was legit.
I really like that guy. He did the Nerdist podcast a few years ago and completely changed how I thought about him.
Episode was fucking hilarious
No, we definitely hate Hank. Fuck that guy.
I don't. I just think he's trying and he fucks up.

After Hank got rid of his catform he lost his groove

He's nowhere near Cykes's level of dumbassery though.

But he's still quite a pussy.

Still slowly chugging through Hellboy. Liking it a lot though. Read the bride of hell last night, which was an awesome one off. The artist for that one (I think did the excellent crooked man Hellboy issues too?) is less elegant than Mignola or Fegredo, but he has a great handling on really macabre frightening images. It also gives me a kinda 70's vibe for some reason.

That would annoy me more but there have been several times in the last couple of years where Dick had advice that Bruce ignored and wound up paying the price. Grayson has to take the occasional L too.

Pretty much the best comics out there. Richard Corbett is brilliant, he really does evoke that creepy/eerie era horror comics stuff (unsurprising since he did covers and stories back in the day). I like him as a change of pace.

Finished The Fade Out yesterday. One of the most impressive Image series I've read, perfect length too. Bru's other Image stuff is now really high on my wish list.

Awesome! Definitely his best work in recent years, it is perfectly paced and the length really plays to his strengths as well. I'd go after Criminal if you've not read any of it but Fatale and Velvet are awesome too. You can't really go wrong with 99% of his work.

I just realized I should make me a new avatar.

Fair enough, but this one feels like a pretty huge L to take. Feels like he's more naive than he should be. I mean, the last time someone showed up with a connection to the circus life, in particular his, they ended up being a vengeful Talon and killed a lot of people.

Remember when I argued that Comicosity was always postive in their reviews? I'm taking that back now.

http://www.comicosity.com/review-alters-1/

Is this their first 0/10?

Maybe my concept of a comic review is off but I feel like 0/10 would be near impossible to give. I mean at some point shit was written and applied to art. To some degree something was done. I dunno, 0/10 just seems odd to give something as a review. Like, the book would need to physically give you a paper cut while having pencil sketches as art on the scale of HxH with almost no writing for me to give a 0/10.

I might just have to read this review.

I bought every issue of that and I'm seriously considering double dipping for the hardcover. It'll probably be really nice, especially since it'll include all the little Hollywood stories from each issue.

I never got to read these :( I love Bru but he buys into a little of that *content only for the single issue readers* bs.

Supergirl: Being Super sounds like it's going to be great.

I haven't been reading much lately. The store here got a ton of manga in so I'm going to try a few of those. I already bought all the My Hero Academia that was there. I'm gonna get the volumes of One Punch Man, and my friends want me to try Tokyo Ghoul so I guess I'm in for that too.

I've become everything I've ever hated.

I read the one about Fatty Arbuckle, was interesting. I skipped the rest because the story pulled me in too much.

I read it digital, which really made the colors pop (and man is the coloring in this series incredible), but I can definitely see myself buying the hardcover too at some point. Fantastich book.

jon bones

hot hot hanuman-on-man action
i'm glad i'm back to the Rajvatar, though if i see anyone using my old BP one again i'll have to get them banned

Hmm. Were Batman #51 & #52 oversized/extra length? Just realised the final HC of Snyder's run only has 51,52, the short story from tec 27 and an annual by Tynion? Strange. Why not just make volume 9 supersized and go out with a bang?

So they can charge you more for another volume. Plus, they can make you wait even longer which DC seem to love doing.

The cynic in me says they know everyone will want 51 but no one will want the rest of the stuff so they lumped it together in an extra volume instead of making the other one bigger.

Hateful. May as well just wait until December and get the two together then, I don't see the point in reading the last two broken up form the rest. Tradewaiting is dandy, but even now and again...

Briefly considered one of these PS4 Pro things today and pushed it out of mind. Nonono.

Is the #52 not Snyder either?

Neh, Tynion also. I think they said it was a Snyder story at the time but DC's site say's its Tynion. It was just a throw away story and villain and felt really weird and filler-ish. They cared so much about getting to that 52.

Wow, that's even worse haha. Ha well, I guess what they want because I won't skip it. This is the first time they bothered to collect the murphy TEC story in the Snyder trades and #51 is the cap off. Still, if this is some kind of ramp up to the rebirth trades featuring similar shit, all my DC books will be gone haha. I already have low tolerance for getting trades with 4 issues and a filler book to pad it out. This OML book better be great ha

Seeing as how they're putting all the Rebirth one-shots in a stand-alone book and I think the trades be without the Rebirth issues I'd say they're still being pretty stupid about it.
