Bought the first issue of Manhunter on CMX. Didn't really know anything about it. Just read it and IMMEDIATELY bought the second issue. This is GREAT stuff.

Man, are there any other DC books worth reading other than Arrow?

Action Comics is boring me,
Flash is Trash
Wonder Woman is a tradewait.
No holds barred favorites:
Superman
Nightwing
Green Arrow
Detective Comics
Titans
Supergirl
Batgirl and the Birds of Prey

Good/interesting Rebirths, but tradewaiting:
Deathstroke
Blue Beetle

The rest I either haven't read or disliked.

“it was just sex for God’s sake! It doesn’t have to mean anything"

"WHY CAN'T IT GO BACK TO THE WAY THINGS WERE? I DON'T CARE. YOU DON'T CARE."

I think I heard this was trash before. You like?

Off of the reviews, and the opinions I've seen in here, and just a bit of personal preference in writers, I think I have these down for rebirth then it hits trade:

All-Star Batman, Gotham Academy, Batman, Wonder Woman, Superman, Super Girl

Maybe: Detective Comics, Nightwing, Batgirl. Green Arrow. TEC & Nightwing still have a decent shot, the other two have been slipping away further and further. Oh and maybe Constantine.

I'm really enjoying the premise and the plot, and this is probably my favorite version of Huntress outside of New 52 Helena Wayne. My biggest issues are one: I can't take Babs seriously with that fucking costume and two is that the art is pretty decent most of the time, the actual action sequences are very rough to follow. But I'm genuinely enjoying the book and look forward to the next issue. I'm hoping it improves, as it's definitely on the bottom of the list as far as the ones I enjoy go, but I still enjoy it and I love the concept too damn much to drop it. And unlike Action Comics, this book is actually following through on the premise.

Hmm, cool. Maybe I'll stick it back on the maybe list. I think I stopped thinking about it after the rebirth issue had came out and got a bit of a kicking, but if it's looking up. How is the dialogue, the writers were tv writers previously right?

The dialogue's decent.

Like, here's the thing: it's an okay book, if I were to try and speak objectively. It really is just okay. It has a lot of flaws, but they're pretty small enough for me to forgive. Save for those action sequences, because those really do kind of suck. Their flow, any way. Taking each panel by itself, they're pretty cool, but put it all together and it's not great. Personally, if I were you, I would just wait awhile and look into it then.

For sure man. My plans always change on these things anyway tbh, because usually by the time the trades actually release (between Jan-March for this first wave I think), they've already announced the NEXT wave of book. So some I have down will be cancelled and cut off at the knees and end up not worth checking out, some I hadn't planned will end with really nice short well reviewed runs, some will have had cringe inducing direction changes. Who knows basically haha. I just try and keep a rough grasp on what I'll be getting so I can budget appropriately down the line.

Bab's for some reason looked 13 in this book. I don't have a problem with her new Batgirl outfit but she looks 10 years younger when she wears it.

That's my problem. She's a grown ass woman. Dinah looks more like her aunt than her friend or colleague. Give her a costume change or something. She's close to Dick's age, so make her look like it.

I dreamed the MCU and DCU had merged and made a movie.

It started with Modern Cap and USAgent getting sent back in time to help WW2 Cap, and Modern Cap had to bust USAgent's ass because he was cosigning 1940s racism

Then Black Panther was in Bruce Wayne's office throwing money in his face saying "You need to grow up and stop using your father's capital to pay for your mistakes"

Finally I am outside the movie theater and i see Dean Cain, I try to talk to him but he runs away.

So you're saying she looked to be about the same age as Magik?

I didn't like the computer style of speaking at the beginning of Cyborg, but other than that I really liked it. It's already better than the little I read of the DC You Cyborg book.

Wait is there really a invincible sale? Like the second 1 this year. We all know it will be on sale again this Christmas and next year when it wraps up

He's writing Black Hammer for Dark Horse.

He's exclusive in the sense of do not work for DC. He's writing a valiant book too. When writers sign exclusive to the big two, there's usually a numbe rof caveats regarding a) creator owned work and b) workload they already agreed to with other publishers. Particularly with point a, DC and Marvel basically have no pull to make stuff exclusive to Vertigo or Icon anymore in regards to writers being exclusive with them. Lemire actually just put out a Teen Titans Earth One book he had preivous commitment too as an example, and he has a creator owned graphic novel out via a regular book publisher, Simon & Schuster next year. Nevermind all his Image stuff haha.

EDIT

Actually, pure coincidence, but just saw this reported. SECRET PATH. A multi-media project involving Jeff Lemire releasing in Nov in Canada, includes a comic, an animated movie, & a cd. Lemire's part is an 88 page graphic novel, published by Simon & Schuster. I guess this is why Roughneck got put back to next year. I think his illustrations went towards the animation too.

The concept is basically the true story of a boy called Chanie Wenjack a Canadian native, who was sent to a residential intergration school basically to be fit in more with the dominant immigrant culture, who escaped and eventually died from hunger & exposure. Apparently he was neglected and treated terribly, and his name wasn't even reported correctly to police by teachers. He was only 12, and the story is quite a sad one that represents, as far as Downie & Lemire think, a lot of historical problem in Canada with race and so on. I'm actually completely ignorant to racial issues in Canada, so it sounds interesting.

His partner on this is Gord Downie, who is apparently a Canadian musican? There's a whole bunch of info at the link, including a trailer for the movie thing.

Hmm.. I think comics publishers need to look that word up in the dictionary then.

In the context that they use it in it works fine.

ooo I want that one. I have been building a lot of u.c kits in order of the timline

I'm a big fan of UC designs especially GM variants and everything in between. Unicorn was amazing because they brought out all the cool designs from the Zeon and Fed side.

jon bones

hot hot hanuman-on-man action
Contiuing my Aaron Thor read.

Loving this Accursed arc, and the League of Realms is too dope - particularly the panel where they all have their unique mounts.

Love:
Detective Comics
Green Arrow (as you mentioned)
New Super-Man
All-Star Batman
The Flintstones has been really good, surprisingly

Like:
Batgirl
Aquaman
Wonder Woman
Batman (I like it, but many don't)

Too early to tell, but looks promising:
Deathstroke
Red Hood (surprisingly)
Supergirl
Superwoman

I agree with you that Flash is not good and Action Comics is boring, although the last few issues have been better then the first few.

but I am taking tiny steps forward
Lol. So I finally got around to start reading All Star Section 8 (which is fantastic so far, by the way), and it reminded me of that time JC misinterpreted Batman's censored dialogue as something horribly racist. I can't for the life of me find the post, but that was one of the all-time great ComicsGAF moments.

Edit: YES. Found it. The action starts here.

So what's the problem with nightwing again.

I read here that Dicks character is off or something

I haven't been a big fan just because it feels like a lesser version of Grayson with him now just in the Nightwing costume. He's still being the double agent, he's still got a partner that he doesn't always get along with. It just feels like the same thing but the dialogue is now worse? I dunno, thinking about dropping it.

It's always a pleasure to have a reason to post in here! Hopefully I'll get back in the groove of reading comics again, and thus posting more often. I'm at least giving it a good shot. Haha

It seems like aside from Preacher and Hitman most people in ComicsGaf really dislike Ennis. I loved the Boys, but certainly recognize that it's divisive. His War Stories and similar grounded war comics are really solid as well.

Is anyone else here a fan of his more over the top stuff like The Pro, The Boys, All Star Section 8, etc,,,?
