Edit: The whole drug campaign. Gotta be honest. A lot of it was propagandist type crap that served to criminalize minorities even more when many drugs were perfectly legal and accepted when it was just whites doing it. Weed for example. Of course there's some things you don't wanna fuck with.

When I was younger, and coming out of high school, I hung out with guys who got into drugs. I had a hard time saying no, and didn't much. So, I've done shrooms a couple of times.
One time I had to babysit my friend, because he took far too many and couldn't keep anything in his head for more than 30 seconds. He got into a fight with our friend, who stormed off with everyone else at the party, leaving us. My friend who was high kept looking at a plant and asking me what was going on, every 20-30 seconds.
I took some afterwards, when things calmed down, and we went for a drive. The power was out in a small town nearby, and as we went over the hill that leads into it, the lights all came back on. It blew our minds.

Oh sure, I've just never seen drugs as anything other than that. I'm not telling people what they should or shouldn't do, just that it sounds weird to me that's all.

It was kinda funny. They had this person Klaus who always was the addict. One year he was addicted to alcohol, the other year he was addicted to cigarettes and the other year he was addicted to drugs. It was always the same actor. Anyway, I liked those drug awareness days because it meant no school. So that was nice. Itn also wasn't really about pointing fingers and saying people who do these things are bad people, it was more about learning what these things are and how they can affect your life. I don't know how the German education plans have changed since then though.

We don't have DARE here, but I'd heard about it on TV. I don't really have an opinion for or against, because drug prevention is good but some tactics are not.
One of my peers and I were stopped by DARE when we were walking in Los Angeles, trying to find a specific fast food place. They talked him into donating for a t-shirt, but didn't have his size. He wanted it because the commercials were a big part of his youth.
I thought about donating, but with the exchange rate being what it was, I decided against it.

I seriously had a mycology phase where I did this for a full year around local forests/woods and learned sooo much about fungi in general. Looking back, times well spent and still in amazement of the crazy stuff I learned and wild life I encountered. Nature is freaking amazing.
I did notice this as well and was a bit pleasantly surprised tbh lol. Cause shrooms imo are not a "party drug," for the faint of heart or that easy to get since there is no addiction, growing em is very easy and there is little profit for dealers to sell them. If anything, I'd rather have more people dip their toes into natural psychedelics like shrooms than the lab made stuff and harder drugs including alcohol.
I'm actually now curious how these sort of things are taught in Germany then. I was assuming you were talking about an American program like DARE so my mistake. I'm not sure how the drug scare progressed outside of the US but a lot of it was bullshit here in the country. Again, drugs isn't something to take lightly (depends on the drug) but neither is something like alcohol, which is far more dangerous statistically.

Have fun OP. I made some horrible choices with mushrooms in high school and still don't know how I made it through one trip in particular. Straight up alien universe and everyone had antennas and shit. I remember after I made it through the worst of it I looked at the time on my phone and the numbers were more foreign than chinese symbols, just melting off the phone.
First time I took acid I went back to my parents house at night still tripping. My mom was adamant about me helping her find some old film on youtube about someone being buried alive. Found it and after like 5 minutes I was like "This is too much, I'm going upstairs". What a trip

It's pretty cheap too, no idea what you'd pay in the US or somewhere else where it isn't legal, but in my day 4 Euro's was more than enough. Same with weed, I was always amazed what people elsewhere had to pay. I've been done with that stuff for years now though. I've had my fun, gotten everything out of it that I was going to get.
