If I dropped anything hard and plastic onto concrete I'd be happy that it worked at all. People have totally unrealistic expectations these days. Not exactly the most durable machine ever.
But I suppose dropping it on concrete is going to cause some sort of damage.
Hey, I just want to say this: I saw the post before you edited it, and your edit and mea culpa are a) good and b) all-too-unusual online. Thank you for acknowledging it and not doubling-down in defensiveness.
Yeah this doesn't at all make you seem creepy and with some weird vendetta based on something with which you completely lack any kind of context, or that you simply don't care since you already have got some biases to confirm.
Wanna point me to the click-bait video where they exclaimed "BREAKING NEWS! SWITCH HARDWARE DESIGN FAULTY?!?!"
Most people normally don't carry their Gamecubes with them...my gamecube could survive a 2-floor fall...
I'll be honest; I wasn't aware that this wasn't their official coverage. I just figured Unprofessional Fridays were coverage without Nintendo reps around, or something like that. I was just being childish, sorry.
What if the joycons are made of concrete, hence the bad syncing
Edited my post. Hope things smoothed out.I had been having a rough few days when the original thread came up, and my original post was venting. I should've dropped the subject when that thread was closed. My apologies.

I'm confused? What exactly is happening here? Some people are claiming that the only reason the latch broke was because the Switch was dropped? Do we have any proof of that?
They need to get in front of this right now and issue a very public apology to Nintendo as well as their subscribers or they are really running the risk of wrecking their credibility. Permanently.
Strictly speaking, my iPad and iPhones have dropped off the edge of my bed maybe 3 feet onto my hardwood floors numerous times. All is well here. People tend to undersell the value of durability for hardware designed to be consumed by a mixed age audience when their favorite manufacturer is involved though. If I dropped anything hard and plastic onto concrete I'd be happy that it worked at all. "I dropped my 80% glass device full of expensive electronic components on the floor and it got damaged, I am outraged."
Don't drop expensive shit onto hard shit, solved.
I wouldn't even interpret his comments as not too hot. He even said he really wanted to play it on his personal unit and that's why he wasn't putting much time into it on the office Switch.
So, do we know if Jeff was drinking wine and eating cheese on crackers when he made those comments?
Need to know if he was keeping it real or not.
Why did you remind me of this shit...![]()
JIZZING
buy fallout 4 pls

You don't even need to be told why it's not the same thing. Come on now. This reminds me of the Nintendo DS Lite hinge problem.

It's good to know extra precautions will need to be taken here. Sometimes looks can be deceiving. I would have assumed this thing would be very durable given how solid most of Nintnedo's past mobile devices have been. Considering a fair number of children will want to use this as a daily driver, it's good for parents especially to know this going in.
Between him dropping it and the video of him detaching it without using the latches, I am not super worried. The one good thing about this I guess, is that the issue is on the joycon and not the switch itself.
I imagine the joycon latches being weaker is intentional, so the latch of the joycon and the switch don't fight for pressure when bit with an impact.
I guess they'd rather the replaceable part break than the part attached to the unit itself.
also punching it off the switch.
GiantBomb just shot themselves in the foot I don't know how much you the rest of you know about Electronics damage culture (I'm an expert),
You could probably beat this with a hammer and drop it off and ledge and it would survive.Morgan Von Vebb beat a GameCube with a hammer and then dropped it off a ledge and it survived. What happened, Nintendo?
When did he "punch" it off the switch? I hope your not talking about when the other guy (not Jeff), tapped it off from the bottom?

Seems more like a jab.
To what are you referring to?

Which stream was this from on GiantBomb? Did they archive it yet? Dont see it on their site yet.
Oh is it from last weeks unprofessional Fridays?
OMG that's awful. Switch is already a failure. Scrap it. Let's focus on Switch 2.
This reminds me of the Nintendo DS Lite hinge problem.
