Conker:Live and Reloaded?

When is Rare going to release this game? I've been playing Conker's Bad Fur Day on my N64 lately and it is a blast. I probably shouldn't have passed up on this gem for so long...oh well. I love the toilet humor. Right now I am trying to get into that rock monster club but have been stumped. I'm just trying to take a break and go back and see if I can get it. Anyway, when is C:L&R going to released on the GC?

Also, has anybody seen pics or movies of this game yet? I haven't heard anything about it and can't seem to find any coverage about it. I thought I read somebody say it was at E3 but I'm not sure if it was playable or not.

Conker r0x!

Previews at IGN: http://xbox.ign.com/objects/490/490304.html#previews

They have a huge gameplay movie somewhere, try gametrailers.com

I think the current release is looking like Feb. 2005, i could be off by a few months though.

Oh shit...wow. I must have missed that one. So that means Star Fox, Perfect Dark, Conker...and Killer Instinct right? Are there any plans for any of those games too?

Star Fox/Donkey Kong = Nintendo
PD/Conker/Banjo/JFG/KI/etc = Rare(Microsoft)

Nintendo owns Star Fox and DK, Rare has everything else.

This guy must have been living under a rock for quite some time!

Conker is going to rock! Can't wait to play it.

Not under...on top of a rock called Japan {and with limited to no internet access}.

Am I the only one who thinks the fur effect in use there is just... ugly?

It just looks more like a badly rendered "ball of fluff" effect than fur... I'm sure it's technically impressive, but it just looks silly to me.

Actually, yes. You, DavidDayton, are the single voice of dissent towards this game.

Some of the vids at IGN are pretty spectacular, graphics are some of the best on any console. Its going to be amazing, online mode especially

I don't like that fur effect too, but Conker looks really really awesome and has fantastic graphics. It's my Nr.1 Xbox-Killer-App.

You're not crazy, DavidDayton -- I think the fur effect looks pretty assy, myself.

If I didn't already play Conker to death on the N64, I would be very interested in this game, though. For people who missed the original, it should be a no-brainer.

Come on guys, "Bad Fur Day"?! Surely you could take that at face value. :P
Heh. Well, if his fur was just messy, sure. But the effect overall is a sore point for me.

Maybe if they retitled it "Conker's Lines Floating Above Him To Represent Tousled Fur Day" I'd be a little more forgiving. ;)

It should look fine in motion, though. That's pretty much how all similar effects have been handled in the past (from grass to fur). It just doesn't look very good in stills...

Ah right.

I just can't believe someone that visits these forums (or any gaming sites) wouldn't know about Microsoft's buyout of Rare. It was simply huge news and spawned many many threads for agers.

Anyway I'm a huge fan of the original and if it were just a remake I'd be pretty happy but the mulitplayer is shaping up to be really good also!

Everybody always says that RARE isn't the SAME old great RARE because of the fact that they've lost most of their talent. Is that true? The timesplitters team i heard consists of the majority of their 007 programmers?

This looks good if you ask me. Conker is Rare's last chance to prove themselves on XboX 1, and so far so good. Seeing that old squirrel again puts a smile on my face :)

A lot of the programmers who worked at Rare during the N64 years have left, yes; I believe a great deal of the Perfect Dark team left about halfway through the game's completion. Many of these defectors formed Free Radical, who made, as you said, the Timesplitters series. There's also Zoonami, which was formed by Martin Hollis, formerly of Rare. They haven't made any games yet, but supposedly they're working on an unannounced GC project as well as a shitty-looking rhythm game called Funkydilla.

Really, though, anyone looking at Rare's most recent games can see they've faltered a bit; Star Fox Adventures and Grabbed by the Ghoulies just aren't comparable to many of their N64 era hits. That's not to say they're beyond redemption, though, but it does cast a certain doubt over their future projects for some people.

The guys at Zoonami and Free Radical all left when Rare were under Nintendo. The whole thing about a mass exodus is bs as no-one can prove it. Rare keep losing and hiring talent all the time.

GBTG was a kids game, it was unveiled at e3 and released 4 months later, i cant believe people expected to be anything more than a light hearted beat um up. Its ok, full of that Rare charm and humour.

We'll see how Kameo turns out. Judging from hands on, its going to be special.
