The original expectations for this previously ambitious remake make it hard to argue that Conker: Live & Reloaded doesn't disappoint. There's not much in the way of new content in single-player, nor is much of it different or even "uncut," and the multiplayer segment suffers from a lack of play balancing. Still, it looks really, really good and the gameplay mostly holds up, which is probably enough for most people. An excess of poop jokes aside, Conker: Live & Reloaded is a mostly enjoyable romp that's sure to get more than a laugh or two out of most, especially with a friend or two around.
Rare got plenty of love when they were able to match great gameplay with great graphics.ToyMachine228 said:Rare just can't get any love these days...I'm still going to try it out.

tedtropy said:Does Rare honestly deserve any love? They put a game out, what, every coming of Jesus? And even then, it's a mediocre one.

I'm suprised that the game is reviewing so low though. I thought it would maintain scores similar to what the N64 version got. Oh well. I'm still gonna be playing it soon.
1997: GoldenEye 007, Diddy Kong Racing, Blast Corps
1998: Banjo-Kazooie

AniHawk said:1999 also had the very forgotten, but TERRIFIC Jet Force Gemini.
Soul4ger said:Yeah, but it also had DK64. Wasn't terrible, just horribly bloated. GE, DKR, and Blast Corps in one year, though. How did RARE ever manage that?

Really how many random folks out there both remember perfect dark AND liked it enough to anticipate its sequel still ? Certainly no one whose gone back and played it after 2001 I'm sure.
Yeah, back then, Miyamoto did a great job commenting on Donkey Kong 64.norinrad21 said:Well they don't have Miyamoto anymore who used to drop by make a comment or two for them to implement it in the game.
TheTurtleTitan said:Well, people seem to be forgetting that Nintendo also delayed their N64 like nobody's business. Then we got polished gems like Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time. Rare delayed during the N64 days too but we got gems like Goldeneye, Diddy Kong Racing, Banjo-Kazooie, and Jet Force Gemini.
Nintendo stopped giving so many delays, but Rare is still slow...it might be having to do with constant system shifting (GameCube -- Xbox -- Xbox 360...it can take time to develop for a whole new console suddenly) but I dunno (and there is a drop in quality from both companies IMO).
Any1 said:I am starting to get really nervous now. With as much time that was put into this game (especially the mp), i was kind of expecting Rare to knock it out of the park. The multiplayer was the real first yardstick (imo) by which to judge Rares real abilities to create AAA gameplay. And by most of the accounts i've read, it seems they've created just an "decent" gameplay experience.
And honestly, with the price MS paid and Rares past reputation for gaming greatness, "decent" just doesn't cut it.

So just for my information, when do we get to officially condemn Rare and give Nintendo a pat on the back for good business sense again? We do have a timetable for that, right?![]()
Scalemail Ted said:Nervous about what?
Any1 said:Nervous about the fact that Rare may not have the ability to deliver anymore. I really have my hopes up for PD0 and Kameo, and i was looking for the mp of Conker to give me an idea of the talent Rare still possesed.
