Conker: Live & Reloaded is an utterly foul game. There's an unending stream of curse words from Conker and those he meets, though all of these are bleeped. Originally Microsoft had called the remade game, Conker: Live & Uncut, but wisely changed the name because this is not in any way an uncensored version of Bad Fur Day. In fact, the N64 version actually had some un-bleeped swearing. Sure, the F-bomb was always censored, but every now and then a s--- would get through, which made things even funnier. Here, Microsoft has upped the bleeps as almost nothing makes it through safely, not ever "twat," which I didn't even know was considered a curse word by even the most modest of people.

I read on rare-extreme forums that there's an option to completely uncensor the whole game, including f-bombs. Not sure if it's true. I sure hope so, because otherwise it's pretty lame.
 
however, i think that option was supposed to be available when you finish the game.

and i think i remember someone saying that the option was removed.
 
I see why they changed the name of the game to reloaded. It appears Conker is, in fact, circumcized:

"One reason it's a little shorter than before is because, well, the game is actually shorter than before. A few game challenges have been shortened and some removed all-together. Fans of the original may remember the glorious task of swimming through the water attempting to lead an electric eel through three hoops. That's no longer a part of Conker. That's the most notable exclusion, though a few others seem shorter and certainly easier than before. Still, the bulk of gameplay and all of the humor remains."

They are taking things out of the game? WTF is wrong with them? they've had more than enough damn time to get this on XBOX and they are TAKING SHIT OUT OF THE GAME. FUCK the game was already made. All they had to do was redo the graphics and shit right? WTF And here i thought this would complete my Conker collection. Looks like the MouSe ate the cheese in my game here. WTF get on the ball RARE. you cant sit on your fucking asses all this damn time and not have the game miss shit.

Maybe they are putting some actual effort into next gen for PDZ? THEY BETTER BE AT LEAST IF this is what they are going to do to conker.
 
and I don't know what's up with this:

"Conker's Bad Fur Day on the N64 was a pretty challenging game. All told, it took me close to 20 hours to beat the first time through. But on Xbox? Seven hours even. Granted, I knew pretty much everything I had to do, but the Xbox version of Bad Fur Day is far easier than the N64 original."
 
Rare never stop amazing me: when it looks like they have a winning card on their hands they drop a hammer on their own toes.
 
i'm wondering how much the controls would alter how quick you can finish the game too.

Though I haven't played the n64 version for more than 5 minutes... The Xbox pad is ultimately superior to the N64 controller. So while a couple things were changed to remove some stupid tediousness it's possible that the shift in controls would have made the game that much easier.

Rare also never cease to amaze me: They just can't seem to do anything right for me. The last time i was on their side it was Perfect Dark. Sad.
 
Holy shit. At first I was disgruntled, but still accepting of the fact that it's taking way too fucking long for a remake (meaning I was still looking forward to getting the game and playing it). Is it safe to say this is unacceptable?

Thank God the last game I picked up for my N64 before I packed it away was Conker. A $10 whim from Amazon turned into one of the coolest gaming experiences ever. It's ridiculous that the Xbox version has been edited and trimmed in ANY way.

One thing that was cute about the N64 game was that cuss words were usually only censored in one way, but not another. If they were bleeped, they were spelled out on screen. If they were censored on screen, then they were spoken.
 
When Rare put out quality merchandise, the time was worth it. But nowadays, from their late N64 offerings to present, their gratuitous use of time does not equal the amount of quality shown in their releases.

Sad thing considering in the short time of the N64 they were able to make a lot of games. FUCK ONLY 2 games for XBOX in 4 years? thats not acceptable thats just fucking stupid. I would have bought the IP's long ago and fired Rare. They cant get shit done while working for M$.

how many N64 games did they knock out? 8 or something?

Yeah. They must have contracted some disease halfway through the N64 days. Seems like it's uncurable so far. lol

And GameFAQs is turning up Extreme G-2 and some soccer game for some reason.

Those were AAA games to me. RARE!!! WAKE UP!!!!! shit man i can't believe it... Starfuck Adventure + Grabbed By The Sac + remakes on GBA + 2-3 new shitty GBA games.
 
WTF happened? Shit they were making at least one good title a year on N64. What gives Rare? Hell they even made a GameCube game. SO what happened here? Did they really only want to work with Nintendo? Or at least a good part of Rare loyal to Nintendo? This is one of the great mysteries of the gaming industry in my eyes.

Lead times on the games they are making especially conker and games like grabbed by the ghoulies, dont take 2 years to make. I thought they hired more people too? GOD DAMN, i'm angry now.
 
Its nice to know MS feels fine about slashing up an amazing bizzarre and cool game.
Fifty Bucks?!?! Go Buy an n64, or snag an emulator or something... Its nice they ported a great game, but they lose most of the credit for that with this #$*%.

Too easy = "It's all about experiencing the humour!"

Too short = "Multiplayer was the focus, Rare didn't want people stuck on single-player for too long!"

Bleeped swearing = "Bleeping is funnier!"

Too few changes = "Doesn't matter because few Xbox gamers have played the original!"

I'll play it censored personally, Rare released uncensored versions of songs & scene ages ago (from N64 version) its much funnier bleeped.

I could find 10 reasons to bitch about Conker for Xbox and censoring swearwords wouldn't be any of them. That's a really bizarre thread and I hope you were joking with the "no swearing = no buy" comments.
 
It's not so much the swearing. While the fact that Microsoft -- mature Xbox and all -- chose to censor a Nintendo game is amusing as hell, there's a lot more. This game was supposed to be "UNCUT!", but instead they've actually cut parts of the game out. IGN also suggests that next to nothing new has been added (TO SINGLEPLAYER), and that it's dramatically shorter (though I question IGN's 20 hours to 7 comparison -- I'm slow as hell and I only took 12 hours with the N64 game). That's not what I was hoping for or expecting at all.

However I should add that I am still buying it :-)
