Conkers: Live and Uncut isn't Uncut?

Mega Man's Electric Sheep said:
"One reason it's a little shorter than before is because, well, the game is actually shorter than before. A few game challenges have been shortened and some removed all-together. Fans of the original may remember the glorious task of swimming through the water attempting to lead an electric eel through three hoops. That's no longer a part of Conker. That's the most notable exclusion, though a few others seem shorter and certainly easier than before. Still, the bulk of gameplay and all of the humor remains."

Wow, that's... I don't particularly remember that bit (I thought at first this was referring to the three spinning blades), but it certainly wasn't offensive enough to require streamlining out.

Rare never stop amazing me: when it looks like they have a winning card on their hands they drop a hammer on their own toes.

It could've been a Microsoft "suggestion." It's certainly not in Rare's style to make things easier or simpler.

And all of this talk of the unbleeped swearing being pulled at the last minute has me worried. Maybe the press versions just didn't include the option toggle. But it could be a situation of Microsoft getting cold feet, it happened with Nintendo and the first Conker (some last-second clean-up of a few sequences), it could've easily happened again.

NOOOOOO, how could they remove the part where you have to guide the electric eels through the three hoops? That was my favorite part!!!!!!!!!

actually I completely forgot they were in the game, but then I remembered they were in the army base to get the door open

But still, it sucks that they removed some parts and that it is easier now. And that they might have removed the "uncensor" option. And that it took three years to remake. And that it is coming out right when Microsoft is about to abandon the Xbox for the 360.

:(

Remember guys, it's not a port...it's a REMAKE! :lol

We need a pic of Conker with tape over his mouth like Robin Williams at the Oscars.

Look at all the retarded comments...some of you actually pinned your purchase on this title based on whether it contains uncensored speech? Give me a fucking break. Honestly, I'm probably going to find the game's speech a lot funnier now. Bleeps do make cussing funnier, IMO. Anyway, the remade single-player mode and the new multi will rock the house, I hope.

Oh, does MS have wonderful plans for Rare after Perfect Dark Zero. You thought Nintendo forced them to do things they didn't want...

Mario the bastion of free speech in video games??!! :lol

Seriously? I just find it *bleeping* annoying and irritating when they censor cursing on TV, but luckily it's not common practice here in Sweden. Maybe because we don't curse as much over here...but anyway...

While my purchase isn't dependant upon the inclusion of these intriguing words of wisdom och intellect, it still feels silly to have them censor words and, by doing that, lose part of the charm that Conker has going for itself. Perhaps Microsoft wanted to tone down the harsh language to appeal to the younger Xbox crowd since their arsenal of kiddie games isn't exactly overwhelming. But then, there's a lot of other stuff in there not suitable for kids at all. Maybe they'll remove that too? ;)

EDIT: Oh, just noticed you can actually turn the censoring off? Now I'm curious about why people are upset about this censoring... :P

Looking at multiplatform releases in the past few years...

Sony had the most censored version of BMX XXX.
Microsoft has the most censored version of Conker.

I can't think of anything that has been more censored on a Nintendo system than on the other systems. Sure, they were extremely guilty of censorship 10 or 15 years ago, but Nintendo has been hands-off about it lately, at least with third-party games, but they've also been increasingly open with first-party games too.

Wow. That has to be the most retarded statement in the thread so far. So, they bleep a couple more words, and suddenly, the game isn't fun anymore :lol Good to know the GAF has its priorities in line!

You missed the whole point that Conker is a fuckin classic

More Bleeps = Retarded

Its like turning Triumph the insult dog into Snoopy the dancing retard. (Sorry Cool Joe)

It should have stayed a mature game without trying to tone it down, for MS do act even more Kiddy than the Kiddy Kings (Nintendo) this is a damn shame.

Besides I think Conker being on a Nintendo platform made the game that more ironically humorous

Nintendo had ads in Playboy for Conker's BFD

This is pretty funny.

if this was going to a Nintendo console and was being cencored from another console this topic would already have about 10 pages talking about the Big N being doomed and too kiddie.

just shows people really have such a blind vision of Nintendo.

i still plan to get this game. loved it the 1st time and sure i will love it a second time as well.

According to other people in this thead there are 2 different options you can select, one with censoring and one that's compeltely uncensored. So i'd imagine that's why it's not a big deal to alot of people.

Well, that's cool. Still gonna play it with the bleeps, though. The funniest parts of CFBD, from my memory, were when they bleeped stuff out...you could still figure it out, but the censoring made me laugh more than the straight-up cussing.

And wobedraggled, STFU.

Also, speaking of blind there's been plenty of bashing on it here. I think it's more of a case that other fan camps aren't so disgustingly hyperactive and sensitive to the point that trolling them has become fucking forum sport

Nintendo advocates say this shit in every other thread of this nature, despite the total lack of relevance. By now, it seems to me if anything Nintendo needs to bundle their Revolution dealy with a box of tissues and a carton of ice cream.

Yeah, I think Nintendo-boys are over reacting a bit here. I guess they are so hungry to troll they cling on anything they see. Long gone are the days of cocky and over-confident nintendo fanboys.... *sniff*

Bleeping is funny in show's like Chapelle's Show, because they allow enough bad stuff to get through... as long as they don't bleep the holy hell out of whats left on the game, it should be fine.

SantaCruZer said:

Well, considering how Rare came to Microsoft's camp, I think the phrase "icing on the cake" is appropriate. No need to cling. Most of Rare's essential stuff is being saved for next generation.

If there's an option to play it uncensored then there's no problem, IMO. Is that definite though? Or was it something they planned and has now been taken out? I've seen the scan of the magazine (on another forum) and it was Sep. 2004...a lot could have changed since then

HOT-FUCKING-DAMN! That vid confirms what I wanted to see...big additions/changes to the single-player game! And those visuals...HOT!

The Gargoyle bit is the only change, he said "The developers changed it to make you think the rest of the game would be different too".

It does look hot though.

Maybe...but I don't think the game is gonna be 100% the same afterward. Indeed, I think it'll be something like 90% of the old exactly and a nice and significant 10% added/changed. We'll see. There have been too many movies since the time of the original's release for them to pass up the chance to create new parody material and gameplay.

Many people complained that some parts in the original Conker were too hard, so I guess this is why they're toning it down for the Xbox version.

The best parts of Conker are hardly its vulgar humor or swearing. Pretty pathetic that people need that **** in a game heh.

=P

i'm wondering how much the controls would alter how quick you can finish the game too.

Though I haven't played the n64 version for more than 5 minutes... The Xbox pad is ultimately superior to the N64 controller. So while a couple things were changed to remove some stupid tediousness it's possible that the shift in controls would have made the game that much easier.

what

Have you even played the game on the N64?

No swearing = +1 sale from me.

I'm so sick of the bad language in games these days. Swearing doesn't make you more edgy, it doesn't make you hardcore. And it DOES make it so I can't play your game with family in the room and that's just embarassing.

maharg said:
Swearing or no, Conker is not a game you're gonna play with your family in the room.

Exactly. Even if they censor Conker, there's still things that'll be offensive enough that your family probably wouldn't go for it.

Continuing the fact that Nintendo seems to be the bastion of FREEEEDOM, has anyone actually played Paper Mario 2? I mean, in the first town of the game, there's a hang man's noose right in the town square! Also, Goombella has quite a mouth on her, the Mushroom Kingdom has never been so shady, its hilarious.

Also, the demo of Conker's, sadly, didn't even impress visually anymore. And the gameplay, wow, has it aged. The shooting section is now WWII SHOOTING RANGE. Where the danger isn't the "brilliant" AI, but guys popping out from the ceiling, and behind crates. Also, the Tediz don't lose stuffing anymore? Seriously, that was the fun of shooting Tediz.

I'm probably going to rent the game as I don't have LIVE, so multiplayer isn't a big selling point to me.

Here, Microsoft has upped the bleeps as almost nothing makes it through safely, not ever "twat," which I didn't even know was considered a curse word by even the most modest of people.

Is this a joke?

Speevy said:
Why? REMake was full price, and that game didn't even have any multiplayer or online modes.

I hated remake. I was just wondering.

I mean I've played Conker to death and it is VERY pretty, but I'd just be buying it for the killer multiplayer really.

maharg said:

Actually, yes I will. If you need me to clarify, without swearing I will be able to play the game with other human beings within earshot.
I've played through the N64 version. I don't have any problems with the content. I just don't appreciate the language. I don't think games need to cuss, ever.
