You seem to misunderstand the rating system -- "56%" means that 56% percent of the reviews are "fresh." Less than 60% fresh = rotten.

It's not exactly good, though...

I saw the preview for this last night when my wife and I went to see Ocean's 12. Following the Batman trailer was a bad move in the first place. Keanu simply cannot emote (as if I really need to tell you guys this) and it looked like they raped the film for all the special effects in order to make the trailer. I'm a big fan of Jacob's Ladder and apocalyptic stuff, but this looks like absolute trash.

They could have Carrot Top be the lead in the movie and I'd still see it no matter what for one reason:

In the movie's defense, hardly any reviews are up yet.

I have a feeling print critics are going to like this one.

There are nine reviews up and five are positive. Why are you even posting it this early? Stupid, stupid thread.

And I've heard nothing but good things about Constantine from people who have seen it overseas.

Reviews will start to flood in tomorrow. Warner is doing a large portion of press screenings tonight and there's also a public screening of it at the Egyption in Hollywood tonight.

It's doing a pretty solid college tour I believe too. I think there were sneak previews last week and I know my school has one tomorrow, but I won't be making it. I think Warner Bros is pretty confident in it.

But they're from such wonderful sources as themovieboy.com, emmanuellevy.com, and film freak central! That's got to count for something!

In the thread creator's defense, this IS a rotten 'watch', as in we watch as the reviews pile in and get to see as the scales get tipped.

It's not like the website is called Freshtomatoes.

keanu was the wrong choice for constantine. HE'S BRITISH FOR GOD'S SAKE!! and i feel this movie has way too many cg and special effects shots. it's not like constantine is fighting demons every five seconds and stuff. it's more cerebral. but i guess american audiences cant handle that.... *sigh* and this is one of my favorite books.....

When has Hollywood ever cared about continuity in a movie translation.

Especially when it's a movie based on a comic that doesn't have enough vocal fans to fill one theater? This isn't Spider-Man, X-Men, Batman, or Superman.

I understand the sentimental value towards Reeves not being Brit, but the simple fact is that as far as I could recall.. there aren't too many demon scenes in the movie itself. The trailer suggest otherwise, but most of that shit that is in the trailer is in the entire film non-cut. You'd be surprised as to how many action scenes there are compared to other "superhero" flicks. The scant CG that there is, is confined to Hell as well as near the end, overall adding up is about 10-15 mins of footage there. This isn't on the same scale of LOTR or The Matrix :lol

If anything, the movie plays like a detective story somewhat.

Wait a minute. You mean that this movie is not out in North America yet?

Hmmmm, I'm from Singapore and the movie's out since Feb 8.

BTW, the movie fucking rocks. The middle-finger scene (you'll get what I mean when you watch the show) is a goddamn fucking classic.

Yeah I thought it was pretty funny too cause it was just so.. laid back style for some reason.

I'm probably going to see this just to see what Tilda Swinton does with the part of the Angel Gabriel. That's genius casting.

I watched the movie and I agree that the casting of Tilda Swinton as Gabriel is perfect including
his/her constume. Beside that, Gabriel had a bigger role to play in this movie...

Not a bad film imo but don't expect great acting from Keanu Reeves. Keanu's acting is similar to what he did in Matrix. Rachel Weisz did well in this film.

Watch the movie for what it is and not for Keanu and you will not be dissapointed.
