So sad to read this. It's like everyday i see this cops just shoot and do nothing else by just doing that and they will get away with it.

Black male (check)
Shoot first ask questions later (check)
America (check)

This is so stupid. Every day there's at least one of these "cop kills civilian" story. RIP.

Again?!

the 2nd amendment is only for white people with real guns

It's funny you mention because California was an open carry state until The Black Panthers started carrying guns and rifles in public. After that they banned open carry. What a coincidence?

The gun model in question (MK-177):

I wonder how the people who called the cops feel now. Their paranoia kicked this whole thing off. I'm also wondering why on earth cops would roll into a Walmart guns drawn like that

Wait ... in the USA isn't legal to have a gun ?

Why would you shoot anyone for holding something that he can legaly own ?

So I'm not an expert but I tried googling it - it looks like open carry of long guns is legal in Ohio? If so... this cop fucked up so badly, so completely that he doesn't have a leg to stand on.

Of course not his legs will be up in the air when he rests them in a cot on his paid vacation.

"and the police start shooting and they said ‘Get on the ground,’ but he was already on the ground because they had shot him"

hmm. I think there might be something wrong here, but you never know in America

I just don't understand how this happens. Nothing that looks like a gun should be sold in a fucking Walmart.

Who's training all these cops to immediately pull out a gun and pull a hole in something before assessing a situation for one second?

Doesn't Walmart sell actual guns and ammo now?

Who's training all these cops to immediately pull out a gun and pull a hole in something before assessing a situation for one second?

Article says they told him to drop it and he didn't. So it's not quite like they just showed up and shot at him without saying a word (not defending what happened)

This is literally just plain old, unprovoked murder of an innocent person. These cops need to be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. How can this farce carry on? How long will people put up with this insanity?

Fucking pigs.

I was praying it wasn't a black person. It was a black person. Seriously, it's like a few cops just need any excuse to shoot a black person. RIP man.

Context. Those people aren't waving the guns at people.

If he was pointing it at people, as it says, then he got what was coming. It's happened a lot here in the UK over the years. It's why they tell cosplayers to be careful.

I see nothing in the article stating he was pointing it at people?

He had JUST purchased it at the store where he was murdered.
And that means its OK to point it at other shoppers who may not know its a toy. Look, I'm not saying its OK he got shot (it isn't), but pointing a very real looking replica gun at other people is a very bad (and silly) thing to do.

Also, why on earth are these replica BB/air rifles referred to as toys? - these things aren't toys IMO.

From the articles links (that they took the story from).
Another customer called 911 to report 22-year-old John Crawford waving what appeared to be an AR-15 at children and others at the Beavercreek retailer.

Cops, man. Fucking ridiculous.

That said, I can't help but think that some of this will fall back on the manufacturer. According to that article, the victim had a MK-177 BB/Pellet Rifle, which looks like some variation of this:
Why BB/Pellet guns are allowed to be sold looking like this, I have no idea. All "toy" guns or "non-lethal" guns (such as this one) should be sold in bright colors to clearly distinguish them from real guns.

This happened about 10 minutes from where I live. So sad. I wish police could be brainwashed into using non lethal force. There are so man different options to non lethally subdue a person.

edit: Actually the guy is FROM about 10 minutes from where I live. Irrelevant really but wanted to clarify.

Ban these fucking toy guns already.

This is just a tragic shooting because of toy guns looking like real weapons. There is no way to know if someone brought in a real weapon to the store and then masking it as a "toy gun". No, the problem is the fact that there are childrens toys and soft-air guns looking like real ones. You don't disarm someone non-lethally when they're holding what looks like to be a high-caliber rifle.
