Could Black Panther surpass Terminator 2?

What I noticed is that so called critics reviews and actual people have become highly disconnected . And honest it’s much bigger with movies about “progressive “ commentarySo are you saying that BvS is good? By your logic that must be it.
And obviously I assume people that claim that the reviews are tainted and with an agenda, and not because the movie is actually good, have some proof to back up those claims.
Or is it just a feeling?

The raid and die hard are my favorite action movies. I’m going to like black panther and think terminator 1 is better than 2. It’s a weird statement to make for me to compare the two.

Looks a bit cheesy and 'try hard' to me, but I haven't seen it. Will watch one Christmas while inebriated.
Saying it's better than T2 is just silly though. Nobody will care about BP in a years time, let alone 10 or 20. The first two Terminator films are bona fide classics.
This isn't exclusive to Black Panther though. Literally nobody is making films these days which match the great action films of the 80's and 90's.

I wouldn't really categorize a couple of your mentions as action movies. And John Wick, as watchable as it is, doesn't come close to the true greats. It's fun but entirely forgettable.
Nolans Batman films are the only ones in recent history which can maybe stand with the old classics. Prior to that the best action film of more 'recent' times is The Matrix.

Just saw it, wasn't the second coming of Jesus Christ but it was a decent Marvel movie, if you like those you'll enjoy this. Was way better than that boring as fuck Star Wars movie at the very least.

Btw on this same topic I always founded I enjoy Terminator 1 more than 2 , then again my favourite movie of all time is The Good, The Bad and the Ugly and there are times when I think For a few Dollars More is Better.

Saw Black Panther yesterday, it was a good movie but nothing mind blowing. If I'm absolutely honest I didn't like it because all the hype surrounding it gave me high hopes which eventually led to me being disappointed. It did the whole Wakanda/African culture well I assume (no idea, not into said cultures at all) but it was hard to focus on them cause the whole cinema was laughing at most of it or making fun of said scenes (the ritual dancing or chanting etc., pretty annoying audience... classic central european audience I guess :shrug: ).
The best parts were the suit up scenes cause they were amazing and the fighting choreography.

I have some friends who also really liked it, but I really couldn't get into it and absolutely no jokes landed on me. Maybe it's me. It's too bad because GOTG 2 was the funniest MCU movie thus far, but Homecoming and Ragnarok attempts at humor didn't too much for me. But hey, Cate Blanchett did look stunning.

Can i also just say the Main Black Panther character sucks and is so wooden...would it fucking hurt to smile? So unlikeable his sister and the African general on the other hand were great characters.

Also the general seems just as skilled as the BP (if not more), and that's without panther juice nor panther suit. It doesn't help making the titular character as impressive as he should be. At least for a super-hero movie, if we're going for realism it makes sense that the top fighter of the country isn't necessarily the king himself (but then that defeats the whole concept of the BP character).

Wakanda is a made up country/culture.
Is just an idealization of black african culture. That's why people laugh at it.

I am aware that Wakanda is made up, it was simply annoying to have people yell stuff like „show me da wae“ or clucking with their tongues, doing that ape chant + 500 other annoying things throughout the movie.

Each time those movies came out, I felt that we've seen one of the best action movies of all time. Considering two of those came out in the last 3 years, I'm pretty happy with how action movies are evolving. With that said, no comic book movie is going to make my list because they are just too formulaic (Except Batman Begins and The Dark Knight). Marvel has figured out how to create a family action movie and get people in seats. I don't blame them for churning these out as people love them, but their subject matter and execution just can't put them in the pantheon of great action movies for me. To each their own though.

Well theres an article out there that picked up in the 3 poor reviews and made specific mention that 2 out of 3 were from Australian reviewers....as though implying something.
The author seemed apologetic that they dare not enjoy the movie and put a blemish on its 100% rating.
Edit: Actually writing a bad review for this movie was apparently news worthy for many sites.

was it just me, or did the final fight scene look kinda bad? Like the CGI looked rough, which is weird because from what i remember, black panther action scenes in civil war looked much better.

wants to use Wakanda's resources to take revenge over white people all over the world
At most it's anti-imperialism/colonist messaging, but I can see why folks would identify that as white people.

Yeah the bad guy's plan is vague enough so that one might see it that way, but also so that the movie itself doesn't state it openly and open the possibility for something more neutral. The plot is really tame and doesn't take too many risks on that point, it's still a Disney movie.
As for comparing it to T2, it's definitiely not the same kind of movie. As an action movie, T2 is full of memorable sequences (T1000 clinging to the car hood with hook hands, slashing through a bottle of milk, walking through bars, stabbing his doppleganger with his finger, walking out of an explosion in liquid form, get shot in the face with a gaping hole, freeze-melt-regroup... plus truck vs bike race, Sarah Connor vaporized, Schwarzie peeling his arm off...). I can't think of any action scene in BP that is as memorable as any of those. Now maybe BP has some deeper/more emotional moments, since that's not really the strong point of T2.
