Could Microsoft be the most evilest company to ever exist?

So Microsoft is more evil than all the tobacco companies, who buried research in order to keep selling their cancer sticks? Or the chemical companies that literally poisoned the earth to make a few bucks? Or the pharmaceuticals who knowingly downplay the severe side effects of their drugs? Or the insurance companies who look for any reason to not pay out claims? Or the banks who do their best to keep people in perpetual debt? Or Meta who tunes it's algorithm to place people into societally damaging echo chambers in order to increase engagement?

Microsoft, like all publicly traded companies, is shit, but there are fare worse offenders out there.

Several companies that helped the Nazis still exist.
Yups, and they are world-renoved to this very day, just to name a few most/every1 knows of:
Audi, Bayer, BMW, Lufthansa, Dr Oetker, Ford, Hugo Boss, IBM, Kodak, Mercedes-Benz, Opel, Porsche, Siemens, Volkswagen.
Here full list with what they actually did/all the connections(many were unpunished to this very day).

come the fuck on OP... every fucking company has been cutting thousands of jobs, this is not exclusive to MS, its just the latest one to do it. The job market is fucked right now.

They rake in record profits every year. Microsoft doesn't have to cut. But they do anyway.

The fallout hasn't occurred yet, but potentially they could be.

People can see how devastating this could become, right?

The competition is tight, but it's up there. Big pharma, Microsoft and Disney leading the way, with Amazon, Google, Netflix and some others in a second tier. Hard to tell which one is worse, they are all run by transhumanist sociopaths.

Well it was rumored in the past that MS is an evil incarnate and has the symbol 666 which MS will implant as a microchips to all of us. :pie_roffles:

Just kidding :messenger_peace:

Even if you're that worried about AI, why single Microsoft out? Google, Meta, Tesla, Antrhopic, and a bunch of Chinese companies are all working on it, with the same goals in mind.

Tons of parasites in the dev studios tho, they produced nothing or really low quality products over span of 5+ years, its not a surprise they gonna get cut off, bro.

Video games making business is one of most competetive business in the world, u dont get decent results w/o working crazy hours, sacrificing ur social life, health, family and overall quality of life- hell u might do all that and success is still not guaranteed, its just prerequisite- wanna have stable hours/social life/time for family- work as a fuckin babysiter/kindergarten teacher aka low status low income job many women do- wanna swim with the sharks in the game dev- better make sure u are one of the sharks urself or u will get eaten :P

Thats what happens when u get tons of DEI hires in ur dev studios, and many western devs did same stupid move MS/Xbox did, so they will suffer too, maybe to a lesser degree but there will be plenty lay offs in most western dev studios :)

Time to dust off some ancient Microsoft memes.

They might be looking into it to not stay behind but it's Microsoft that's firing off the first nuke.

The "most evilest company to ever exist"?
Ever?

Call me crazy but I'm fairly certain the European companies of the 17th and 18th centuries who existed solely to traffic in African slaves were much more evil. And then there's the story of a certain company called IG Farben that created a certain gas for Germany in the 1930s and 1940s...

We live in a world of PMCs, oil companies, people being literally worked to death in the 3rd world, etc. And that's just right now. What a remarkably dumb thread.

..........breh!

Most big companies are fucking shit, do not care about your ass, whether you work there or buy their shit doesn't matter. They love your money and that's all there is to it.

It's all business. If you're worth keeping around adding value you'll keep your job and get paid. If not you get nothing.

No different than everyone's parents. If MS is a scumbag company so are everyone's parents who said no to buying you stuff even though they could afford it and you didn't deserve it.

You have the weirdest pro capitalist takes

AI is not taking these jobs. That's the cover. What's really happening is they're laying off people and then bringing in H1-b's on the cheap. Microsoft has hired 5000 H1-b's this year under the cover of 'AI'.

People have been losing their jobs for all sorts of reasons but not like this.

People have been losing their jobs exactly like this every time there's a major technological advancement that disrupts entire industries.

Consider the advent of electricity and its impact on something as seemingly simple as home lighting. Prior to electricity there were entire industries built up around home oil lamps and candle use. Not only the oil and candle manufacturers themselves, but entire businesses creating things like lamps, candelabras, et cetera. Those industries were devastated once the electric light bulb took over and entire companies vanished overnight. These products exist today as a niche shadow of their former selves.

That's the impact electricity had on just a single application.

OP has Homelander as their avatar and thinks a company involved in video games is the "evilest" mega corp around.

FFS.

The difference is that jobs were created in that instance. Where as AI only takes jobs without giving back.

  • Apple
  • Disney
  • EA
  • Facebook
  • Google
  • Microsoft
  • Nvidia
There is a laundry list of vile corporations, and they are constantly competing for the top spot.
Imo, there should be more governmental action to prove these companies are monopolistic and break them up. They do offer superior products, but at the same time, I have to think that buying up competitors/disruptors only to shutter them has to align with US anti-monopoly laws.

Then again, even if they did break them up, there'd probably be behind-the-scenes collusion with the fragmented companies that result.

Oh well. If you can't beat 'em...guess I'll buy more tech stock.

Are you seriously suggesting Microsoft with its massive philanthropic efforts including over $4 billion in tech assets donated to nonprofits is comparable to insurance or pharmaceutical companies that are literally killing people? Come the fuck on man.

Where as AI only takes jobs without giving back.

Until AI is capable of programming itself and building its own network infrastructure and maintaining its own electrical systems, this is a straight up lie. The shift to AI is just like every other industry shift. Jobs are lost, new jobs in a new industry open up.
