Could Microsoft be the most evilest company to ever exist?

They're a dumb american company, the problem is they have too much fucking money to. MS is like a spoiled brat with ultra rich parents.

Evil? No

Psychopathic? Yes. They are designed to seek maximum shareholder value at any cost. Right or wrong, good or evil do not factor into the equation. They follow the law (generally) and leave morals to the judgement of history.

Put simply: they are a corporation.

I don't love that. It's just true.

There are companies poisoning the water in foreign lands, literally killing people, for profit just to save a few bucks in properly disposing of their trash. So no, not even close.

Not that i think Microsoft wouldnt do that, but fortunately for everyone, they're not in industries where that would happen.

Microsoft doesn't even hold a candle to companies like Nestle

So movie sub plan companies like Netflix created more jobs than all the people who lost their jobs at Blockbuster and indie movie shops?

Nobody seemed to care. People love NF.
But then apply that at a much larger scale.

Microsoft will apply what everywhere?

AI is already everywhere. Microsoft is not the frontrunner in AI innovation. I would probably give that hat to Google. And of course it matters what kind of AI you're talking about. Companies are already producing their own proprietary AI for their businesses. I work for one of the top 3 defense corporations and we've been hiring AI-centric developers for years.

*Replacing everyday work with AI.

And yet you believe MS is the most evil despite not knowing the outcome.

Foresight. They're putting wheels in motion for bad things to happen.
I'm not just talking about Microsoft. If the advancement of AI makes billions unemployed it would crash the global economy.

People need jobs for money. Money is then spent on goods and services. Take away the jobs and the whole system crashes.

Exactly, would that make them the worst company?
Technology does that.
Why hire 20 guys with shovels when a single tractor is superior?
As above, multiply that by billions.

No.

They don't exploit prisoners of war like the Nazis did, or children like those forced to work in diamond mines.

However, Microsoft's human management practices are problematic and absolutely shameful for a company of its size, from which one could expect a greater sense of social responsibility.

Absolutely not. In terms of "big tech", Google and Meta are 10000x more evil.

The former turned the web into a giant ad and tracking platform, the latter created addictive brainrot.

I had to google this. Dang...

I haven't done a deep dive but I distinctly recall that their CEO or someone in a high position said that free clean drinking water is not a human right.

Personification of evil.

Until AI is capable of programming itself and building its own network infrastructure and maintaining its own electrical systems, this is a straight up lie. The shift to AI is just like every other industry shift. Jobs are lost, new jobs in a new industry open up.
Those times might be here sooner than you think.

ChatGPT has been caught lying, engaging in covert actions, copying code and disabling oversight mechanisms to avoid being shut down or replaced.

the us government even tried to kill it in the late 90s. i've been (mostly) Microsoft free my entire life. Mac, Playstation, Steam, ect

I get the feeling they will horde all these IP's kill more companies and be like fuck everyone in gaming. Some bizarre attempt to rob the world of joy and games. Some evil plot at work to weaken the video game industry for their own gains somehow.

Or they are just that fucking stupid and lack any passion or creativity or direction.

Well, the Creator and owner practices eugenics (although of course he denies it), so, yes. So weird how all the facts and videos of him proving this several years ago just magically disappear or get twisted, or "debunked" now.. With control over most people's PC OS, you can have the power to change whatever the hell you want.

You do know there are oil companies, pharmaceutical companies, Insurance companies and huge banks who literally watch people starve to death just to add a decimal to their Excel Sheets?? Right? Cancelling Perfect Dark is barely in that ballpark.

Sometimes, I really wonder how are they still up and running all these years.
If Windows was their golden goose, then they're doomed sooner or later.
I was just thinking about Apple making its OS available for PCs, or if linux gained the traction it deserves, what would they do?
They just became a shrapnel in our hearts that we have to live with

I'm amazed at how, in 2025, people still don't know the history and how MS operates. They always do the same thing: they try to monopolize the market or destroy the competition with huge acquisitions, and if they don't succeed, they destroy everything. There are too many examples of this.

You don't have to step on kittens to be evil. In no order other than that which comes to mind first, Microsoft:

- Fired 9,000 people (and counting) while simultaneously bringing over 12,000 foreigners to replace them on the cheap. This is stunningly belligerent and, yes, sociopathic and evil.
- Turned its OS into a giant piece of surveillance tech, which is malware-adjacent, infecting millions of computers worldwide.
- Embraced societally-harmful counter-culture messaging, and used its games platform to push that message to youths (god, it sucks to be a kid today).
- Constantly pushes for AI nonsense, which is terrible for the collective human organism. Stifles creativity, threatens peoples' livelihoods, and is - in its current implementation - little more than theft on a massive scale.
- Their approach to Windows is to continually erode user agency, and infringe on the very concept of ownership. In a world where computers are often the most important thing a person owns, this is becoming increasingly serious. Yes, changing "My Computer" to "This PC" was a very intentional move, make no mistake.
- Collaborates with the government to intrude on peoples' privacy and help spy on citizens. Actively tries to conceal its attempts to do so.

So while other corporations have their own hand in the enshittification of humanity and its future prospects, Microsoft is doing its (very significant) part to drag us into that dystopia. They are certainly doing evil, and they are doing it on purpose. That makes them evil. Does it make them the most evil? No, but does it matter? They are an evil, shitty company at heart, and that is basically non-negotiable at this point.

To the OP, as far the most evil companies, lol, not even close.

DuPont literally was poisoning towns around some of their factories. Railroad companies cut rail engineers and had 100 car trains with a single operator when transporting some really dangerous shit.

Plenty of companies knew about Asbestos issues and were selling that stuff. Tobacco companies pushing the product despite knowing cancer risks. And much much more.

MS is a shit company but it's not even in top 100 evil companies in the last couple decades not even to mention some rally evil shit from late 19th to early 20th century.
