Ah, one of my all time favourite Animes, and probably the one with the best cast. I love Faye and Spike.

Wait what BluRay Box??? I didn't realize that.
I have a very good DVD Box, but if it is a good quality BluRay i might buy it again.

I've never seen the series and was just recently looking for a good way to watch them (there were none apparently).

I'M SO GETTING THIS

Edit : wait a minute. 32£ and only the first half ?? I'M NOT GETTING THIS

(yet)

Where are you buying it from? It's £25 on Amazon at the moment.

Second half out in September, folks!

One of my favourite shows ever. But the fact that I still can't get this on blu-ray in the US saddens me to no end. Makes no sense =[

It has the perfect ending as well. Although the shows creator recently ruined iit by saying
Spike survives.

He did? I remember him saying something like "The ending is up to interpretation" years ago but if he actually said he
survives
, I'd love to read the quote.

True. Would've happily picked it up for £32 if it was the complete set.

Odd that I knew nothing about the Blu-Ray release, but recently started a re-watch of the complete series. Not only is it one of the very few animes that I truly enjoy, but its one of my favorite shows of all time. The characters are all great, the pacing and story arcs through the 26 episodes work perfectly, the soundtrack is a masterpiece...I recommend it to anyone with even the slightest interest.

Completely forgot this release. I have to order it this evening first thing when I'm back.

Damn, I really late with my anime purchases these past months; still haven't bought PSG, Penguindrum, that AUS edition of Denno Coil...

When's the second half due ?

Second part is available on the 23rd of September. It's available for £24.54 on Amazon right now so I'd suggest ordering now before it goes up which it will. First part was available for the same price but went to exactly today.

Same. If its £25 ill bite, because I just hate having money it seems.

It's available on Sainsburys Entertainment for£27.99 as some posters have pointed out.

The best live concert ever. And it doesn't even have a dedicated CD/DVD release :(

Edit: SAXGASM

Actually the concert Yoko Kanno did a few years back is arguably even better than that. Having Steve Conte and Mai Yamane do a duo of Rain, or Mai Yamane do an extended version of Blue with Maaya Sakamoto as a backup singer, among other awesome moments.
And the most horrible part is that there is no official CD, even less an official video of that. Only (as far as I know) a not so great bootleg recording that I must have listened hundreds of times now :/

See how much I paid for the DVDs back in the day?

I will still buy this the second it's released in America. Make it happen!

Oh, and I always entertain the thought that I want Space Lion played at my funeral.

Is Funi the only hope we have of this in the US?

No, it's really up for grabs. Sentai could. Hell, even Discotek could.

Bandai had the US rights last I checked and they stopped releasing BDs in the US and even when they did, they charged an arm and a leg for them.

Actually, the rights to all the series produced by Sunrise that Bandai Entertainment had have reverted back to Sunrise within the past few months. Sunrise is currently speaking with NA anime companies in order to gets things re-released out here again.

I'd be incredibly surprised if we don't see a blu-ray release of Bebop next year in NA.

Wow, that's really promising then. I'll buy a blu-ray collection the second it shows up in the US for sure.

Any chance that they'll release a double-pack/complete set in September or would it be best to pick up Part 1 and 2 seperately? The Anime Legends DVD version with its shiny cover has served me well but that blu ray looks really nice.

GOD I LOVE THIS. I remember buying Gundam Wing VHS tapes - "UNCUT"- and watching previews of this, Outlaw Star, Escaflowne...

No matter what anime they put up, it felt like it was the best thing ever. Fuck this Crunchyroll era of anime :'(.

Say, I saw Michiko & Hatchin is coming to Blu-ray too, and I figure this is a good place to ask; is that series good?

I saw the first couple of episodes it was boring but hopefully building to something big later on. I remember the soundtrack was really good it was heavily influenced by Brazilian music. I really want to check out the entire series now that I know I can get the official blu-ray collection.

Glad to hear that Bandai no loner has the rights. Hopefully it's late this year, though I guess waiting until next year isn't so bad.

There are a few episodes on youtube you could check out and judge for yourself. I personally couldn't finish the 2nd episode, terrible.

I thought Michiko e Hatchin was great, personally. If it weren't standing under the shadows of Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo, people would be raving about it.

The quote came from a UK conference some weeks back. A gaffer made a thread about the movie and it was within that article.

Allow me to share the last five minutes of Mish-Mash Blues:

http://youtu.be/qNkVDoBx6jw?t=20m5s

Set to "Recover the Sky of Day," Watanabe's first collaboration with Tsutchie, who went on to score much of Samurai Champloo. It blew my mind to find this a few years back, that the seeds of Champloo were sewn so long ago.

"This is not the end," at 20:26, has replaced "You're gonna carry that weight" as my go-to Bebop quote, and really, go-to life philosophy.

Now gimme dem Blus, America. (And put Mish-Mash Blues on there.)
