Sharing the jump button and sprint button placement alone makes em similar.
Only action adventure rpg's I played that use and share the odd button placement.
Oh shit. That's your definition of similar? Makes sense. I never would've engaged with you at all if your basis for BotW and Crimson Drsert having similar controls was "same jump button."

For the record, when I talk about controls I talk about the physical buttons to press, how they feel to press in the flow of gameplay, and how they correlate to the actions on screen. There is a massive difference between BotW and Crimson Desert. Nothing similar about them despite you whining about the jump button.

oh I bounced off this pretty hard last couple of days.

Whilst it is impressive what they achieved with this open world I find it incredibly dull and mundane.

I'm trapsing across the landscape from one dull encounter to the next.

For me this has been nothing more than a pretty tech demo.

Im having more fun and satisfaction playing Pokopia and Grind Survivors.

Hopefully it's in a better state in a few months.

How far in were you?

You're not the target audience for this type of game, given the games you mentioned.

I don't get this Zelda comparison, outside of tree chopping.

In Zelda you have a big world with basically nothing, almost empty world compared to most other open world games. In crimson desert you have shit ton of quests per square kilometer. And this "no story" nonsense? I'm doing camp sidequests right now (it's worth it) and game has almost as many cutscenes as kojima game (maybe more overall) and some of them are quite enjoyable. It's not comparable to "single player MMO" in any way.

This only shows you who played the game and who didn't...

I am starting to hate this game so much.

I don't care about the nonsensical story, but the quests design is a boring stupid mess that are riddled with glitches. I had to restart the game a couple of times because some npcs refused to spawn.

The best part of the game is exploring the world and finding stuff, I hate doing quests on this game. I wish I could turn off the quests and enable all the mechanics that are locked behind those shitty quests, so I could just explore the world and kill enemies.

This is probably the most infuriating game I ever played, there are things that I enjoy a lot, but they are surrounded by a pile of shit.

Usually it is not that they don't spawn but because you interacted with enemies you are in "battle" with them and npcs including quest npc run away. Quest marker is pointing place usually rather than someone location thus giving you nothign when you arrive. Simple reload fixes that or just trying to avoid combat near quest giver location.

Yeah, you will also often see a "red warning error" in the quest journal saying "NPC is currently doing another mission". I had it once where I triggered two missions including the same NPC (Naira from the camp). So I run to the one quest and was waiting and waiting, until I realized I have another quest with her. Run to the other quest and she was there...did the quest...and than she was also back to the other quest.

It might be. But it also happened inside the town. In one quest, for example, I had to buy lean meat for Naira, but the npc that sells it, wasn't in the marked place. Even reloading didn't help. Only after I restarted the game the npc appeared.

If a tutorial is more than 5 hours... then damn.

Ever heard of Persona 5? How much playtime versus reading text you got in the first 10 hours?

Death Stranding doesn't really starts till chapter 5, and that's like 15-20 hours in.

Some games are too complex for a "pick up and play" start.

It's ok if you don't like it and don't want to invest the time, but a reviewer should put aside his biases and personal preferences.

Two buttons not just the jump button.
The games are similar. If you don't agree that's another topic altogether 😂 I don't know what to tell you.
Move along as I am done this little back and forth.

Good day 🫡
