I only used cloak sparingly, much like the first game, and any game where I'm given an option. I much prefer to Rambo/Vanquish my way through levels like a crazy cunt. It's so satisfying to peg soldiers across the map, fire while high jumping and sliding, and ripping those mounted guns off and using them to become UNSTOPPABLE.
On which difficulty have you played if I may ask? I tried rambo style and it does not work really well on Post-Human or Veteran.

Wow! the visuals are breathtaking, some the best I've ever seen,

The difference between multi and single player is actually quite jarring now.

Also apart from the added bonuses of PC configs and resolutions I see virtually no difference between those gifs and the PS3/360 version in motion, textures, effects, lighting are all spot on, shame about the framerate though, but not as bad as gaffers are making it out to be.

Best 180 eva! That's why people should play more than 40 minutes before writing stuff on the net..

Hey now, It ain't my fault the first "40min" was utter shit. A game is meant to grab you from the off not half way through my £40.

Yeah, I found it kind of mind-boggling how people would declare the games visuals not all that impressive on PC before they were even half-way through the game and the second half has some of the most visually spectacular set-pieces. And pretty much every single person made a 180 once they did start getting to those parts. But before that, I felt like I had been gushing about the lighting to a brick wall (having actually beaten the game).

yea same here, can't rambo shit at higher difficulties, even with deflection on, my shield goes out in like 5 secs with all the concentrated fire.

Make sure you don't go out in the open, grab an HMG and you can Rambo on hardest with deflection.

But how can you go Rambo with not going out into the open? Leaping from cover to cover costs energy - and taking enemies out from cover is not how I imagine a rambo-style gameplay.

Sometimes the textures can look quite nice despite de vaseline filter, too bad it's only on certain things.

I love how the suit's texture looks, so crisp and detailed.

;) I thought the game was great from the start, from the opening on etc.. didn't have that problem.

What the fuck is this trolling bullshit. Its unreasonable to expect a game to have a touted feature upon release of said game? Much of the criticism is unjustified? Some, sure, but have the balls to make a case and not take potshots from the cheapseats at your fucking demographic.

Its the best looking and performing game on the PC at the moment, the initial concern was valid but once released, there was no longer any reasonable justification. Crytek have done more with DX9 than anyone has done with DX11 all while delivery incredible performance.

Yeah, those stupid concrete barriers annoy incredibly since the texture quality is so much higher than everything else.

Crytek, why did you bother? :p

This man has said what is in my head. Game looks amazing and is great fun to play. Cloaked Shotgun stalking is great and the Sniper feels fantastic to pump two shots into a squids head.

By making sure you always have an escape plan. Rambo is more like start out by knifing a few guys, sniping some, then opening up with everything after laying some C4 around. Rambo never really stood out in the open and took bullets like a sponge :p

Watch them again, bruv. The few scenes where he just stands and shoots endlessly are iconic so they're going to stick with you more, but most of the killing (other than Rambo IV where he has the armoured gun emplacement) is from stealth, explosions, or shooting while agile.

Holy fucking shit you can't seriously be arguing about the definition of "going Rambo"

No. I'm saying you can do in Crysis 2 what Rambo does in the movies fairly well. He never stood right out and let people shoot him.

Sure, but nothing you said precludes it looking even better with DX11. If consoles had never entered the equation, Crysis 2 would most likely have shipped with DX11 support.

Just because you think it's the best looking game, doesn't mean we should start holding Crytek to everybody else's standards. I want to see what they can do with everything at their disposal. Crysis 2 looking better than Dragon Age 2 in DX11 doesn't mean I don't want to see what Crytek can do with DX11.

It's precisely because they are so talented that I want to see how far they can push it. Hell, maybe DX11 won't add that much, but I'd like to know that rather than be left wondering. Especially since my PC has plenty of frames to spare in Crysis 2 as it is. It's also clearly not that much of an unreasonable request, because they're working on it.

I agree whining about it not being there at launch is lame, but I don't think it's lame to want DX11 from the developer most likely to use it well.

Is it supposed to make everything glow? I tried it out earlier and I found the effect too intense.
Yeah sorry about that the hdr effects were way overblown, this one has them back down to the game's default settings.

Still trying to find a way to customize the amount of shit the hud shows, I'd like to get rid of the crosshairs, the fucking giant blue objective text, and the RO-BOT SUIT VOICE

I see apparently "r_multithreaded" apparently doesn't do anything, maybe something else was the factor in my fps gain, apologies for any confusion caused.

Yeah, but they are talking about the heat towards a perceived 'lack of PC polish', not just graphics. And given lack of even basic graphics customization, 'change your TV's brightness settings', etc., a reasonable case can be made.

But as to graphics, only real complaint I have is the blur of Edge AA and MSAA. And with the config tool, I can play without it, and even the jaggies in this game are not that bad at all. I got it working through Inspector, but the framerate hit was too significant.

Anyone else experience a frustating Hit-box /lag in Multiplayer? (Xbox 360)
To many times now it seems that I die from 1-2 shots but it takes 1-2 seconds of shooting from my guns to take somebody out! Also in Kill-cam it seems I miss alot bullets from my weapons but when I shoot them it looks to me my bullets hit them!

Most frustating moments was when I came up close behind a dude and I blasted him with my shotgun in his back, He just turned around and killed me with, 1-2 shoots! In kill-cam my shots was fired beside him, just barley "hurted" him!

But still I think Multiplayer is good fun and with some fixes I think it will be great! :)

It probably isn't coming today. The whole "DX11 today!" thing was a rumour that snowballed from one site into "Crytek confirms patch for today", which never happened. We might see it today, we might not see it for awhile. There's been no official announcement.

One thing you need to remember is that the PC sales data won't take Steam into account (or other DD services, I believe.) If you took them into account, PC sales would massively increase, I'd be willing to bet it would at least double them, if not more.

also C2 has been on the top of the steam top seller list for a while.

I tweeted Nathan Camarillo yesterday about the nanocatalyst glitches, he said that he wasn't aware that there was a problem, he asked what platform the issue was on, is problem happening on all versions?, anyway I told him just to google 'crysis 2 nanocatalyst', hopefully he will look into it.

Just finished it.

Wow, I have no fucken idea what just happened with the ending... does anyone really understand it?

I liked the last area, but totally bummed that
there was no main boss or anything

Overall, I loved the game. I always like to wait a bit before classifying it on my 'top list' but right now it's in my top 5 of all time at this current moment I just loved the night bits and pretty much everything. It gave me a real Half Life 2 feel a lot of the time throughout the game.

Alcatraz dies at the beginning of the game, but is sustained through the Nanosuit. The suit, throughout the game, integrates Alcatraz's DNA profile in conjunction with the countermeasure to the Ceph spore colony so that the suit's AI, which is really Prophet's consciousness, can awaken to its full potential. In the poorly encoded epilogue video, you hear Prophet's voice. His consciousness now inhabits Alcatraz's body. The suit, Alcatraz's body, and Prophet's consciousness are now one being/weapon. Alcatraz being dead throughout the entire game explains why he's a mute protagonist.

Some Metal Gear Solid 4 nonsense, if you ask me.

Alcatraz's consciousness is still supposed to be there. Prophet isn't necessarily in the suit but maybe some small copy of him is still there or maybe its the suit mimic him. I haven't actually finished reading the book yet. But it strongly implies that Alcatraz is pretty much in symbiosis with the suit now

If that's the case, then it makes the whole mute protagonist thing retarded. Whatever, though. Is the book any good?

His vocal cords are damaged so he can't speak, or you can pretend he has a broken jaw or anything. He physically can not speak. Eventually the suit wires into him so much that the voice synthesizer in the suit replaces his vocal cords

The book is ok I guess. Generic sci fi pulp but its better than your average game adaptation novel because it skirts around the action scenes and spends only a few pages on them. It also goes into much more in depth when it comes to the story than the game does.

Any kind of NPD information is flawed because they don't count DD. I bought crysis 1&2 on EA Store. Steam has had tons of sales, and they don't release sales figures. There are other stores that sell it via DD too.

Crysis has sold more than 3 million retail copies, and if I had to guess, I'd say about 2 million bought it via DD. That's just the first game. So no, it was hugely successful on the PC.

If that's the case, then it makes the whole mute protagonist thing retarded. Whatever, though. Is the book any good?

Yeah.. see I would have taken it as though Alcatraz is the primary consciousness throughout the game, and he is 'pep talked' and 'pushed' to 'keep going' by the consciousness of Prophet throughout the game as you're playing (during all the near death experiences).

Then at the end of the game, after the Ceph are killed and the character wakes up again, it doesn't sound especially like Prophet and to be honest I personally believe that Alcatraz is still the character, but he has taken on some (or most) of Prophet's memories and some of his consciousness, and therefore at the end of the game - calls himself 'Prophet'. I think this is kind of a fly in the face of the feeling throughout the game that you have inside your own head when the Cell guys say 'it's Prophet', 'Prophet's going down' that you just wanna say 'I'm not Prophet, I'm Alcatraz, I'm a Marine' (at least I felt that way). Just like you want to say 'I only killed those Cell bastards because they would have killed me if I didn't kill them - don't hold it against me'.

Anyhow, I got a bit of track there. In conclusion, I still think it's Alcatraz but he says 'It's Prophet' because of a sort of 'bonding' of those characters. Here's hoping we get Crysis 2: Warhead quick smart.
