I am now officially in the no-vaseline club. feels great man, feels great. Sadly I cant use r_PostMSAA=2 because of the flickering (I dont have crossfire), so I am stuck with the lower one.

Fucking garbage ATI. Waited all week for the flicker fix. Sure it fixes the flicker, and also makes the performance unacceptably slow. 6950 CrossfireX = 35fps? The same scene, with flickering, was running at 70+fps.

Never again.

Steam only, huh?

Haven't tried this yet myself. Will try later.

What a complete cop out by ATI, telling customers to rename EXEs....

BTW you said you get no flickering in your xfire setup, can you PM me your config file in text? Or can you email it to me?

Armor up anytime you think its gonna be a face to face fire fight. Hell I even use it when i shoot a dude in the back just to be sure.
Always cloak when running out in the open and when you think you can escape while getting shot from behind. I always see people afraid to cloak and sprint at the same time but you really need to use both often.
sweet, i would walk around like its cal of duty(when i played at my buddies house) and get fucked up alot lol.

I don't get flickering with xfire if MSAA is turned off.

With 4xMSAA I do get flickering so I have to choose between xfire or MSAA.

However, the issue may have been resolved - see above - I haven't had time to check.

Here is the autoexec.cfg I am using:

sys_spec_shading=3
sys_spec_gameeffects=3
sys_spec_objectdetail=3
sys_spec_particles=3
sys_spec_physics=3
sys_spec_postprocessing=3
sys_spec_shadows=3
sys_spec_sound=3
sys_spec_texture=3
sys_spec_water=3
g_skipIntro=0
cl_fov=70
pl_movement.power_sprint_targetFov=70
i_mouse_accel=0
i_mouse_accel_max=100
i_mouse_smooth=0
r_motionblur=0
g_radialBlur=0
cl_zoomToggle=0
r_UseEdgeAA=0
r_TexMaxAnisotropy=16
r_PostMSAA=2
r_PostMSAAEdgeFilterNV = 0
cl_crouchtoggle=1
r_ColorGrading=1
r_SSAO=1
r_VSync=0
r_MotionBlurShutterSpeed=1
e_shadows=1
g_enableInitialLoginScreen=0
r_HDRBloomMul=1
r_HDRBrightLevel=1
r_multithreaded=1
r_ShadersDX11=1
r_ShadersDX9=0
r_driver=dx10

This has MSAA enabled. To disable set the value to 0 instead of 2.

Which settings are the no Vaseline ones? Just no EdgeAA and PostMSAA to 1 or 2?

They really need to patch the game. I'm on my 2nd play through and it's not like the game is hard as it is even on the highest setting but when A.I. is constantly walking in one place or into walls it kind of takes the fun out of certain areas.

Ugh for some reason the game just became letterboxed on my monitor. I have no idea why or what am I supposed to do to fix it.
Out of no where? or did you just do something with the game and or your display driver?

It happened after I installed the new nvidia beta drivers. Anyways for some reason I could never get the option to have the video card scale the image to work before. But for some reason it works now so that fixed my problem.

Edit: I was playing at 1600:900 so I could get 60fps without dropping other settings down. The other resolutions worked fine but the 1600x900 1680x1050 all produced weird scaling errors for me. But again for some reason video card scaling started to work and solved the problem.

Speaking of those beta drivers, I love the 500% increase in performance for Dragon Age 2. That is hilarious beyond belief.

So after using the newcatalyst application profile for steam (11.3 release 1) the flicker is still there and my framerate runs like it does with only 1 card enabled. This is beyond irritating at this point.

Hmmm, I haven't checked it in a while, but nVidia's scaling used to work in XP but stopped working when I upgraded to Win 7. Maybe they finally fixed it (over 2 years later).

Same! Well, my flickering is fixed, but it runs HORRIBLY now. Just awful.

lol@Ati, I'm rocking drivers from two years ago. Driver support is such garbage with these people, next card I'm getting will be an Nvidia.

Dual GPU support is pretty hit or miss whether you go green or red.

Well to be fair, SLI is broken for a lot of people too. But ATI releasing a fix that is obviously not a fix was about the dumbest move ever. I just love how no one decided to fully test a game that is known to be one of the most demanding PC titles with multi gpu configs.

Naw, we can talk about consoles too.

So, how about that sick 7800 GT in the PS3? That thing is fast.

Just messing. You should post whatever you want to say.

Ok wow. I just turned off the "vaseline filter" and my god, it's like playing a completely different game and so much easier on my eyes. It felt like I was squinting constantly before this.

Thank you so much.

hmm that config in the OP doesn't really make things look much better. actually i think some things, like shadows, look worse and i also had some graphical glitches.

sys_spec_shadows=2

looks better than 3 btw :p

No motion blur, Dennis?
This is blasphemy in my eyes, especially when it comes to Crysis 2. It makes everything look like it's animating so well, like it's a much higher framerate. I love well-done motion blur and I think that Crysis 2 has the best implementation of it that I've ever seen, and I'm just on PS3.

I am not so sure, I remember reading this too, I am guessing they took on his ideas of the nanosuit evolution aboard but I think when it came to the rest of the story, where you go, why, he may have had some input or I am not in the target audience Crytek was aiming for.

I wish we had more elements of the MGS style story, Characters showing a large array of emotion, less gun pointing, more actual conversation that pushes the characters forward, or even better something like the original crysis 2 trailer when the helicopter goes down while the Cepth are crawling all over it and the soldier blows himself up. I was hoping for that kind of a vibe from the rest of the game. Maybe Crysis 3? :D

Dude!!! Guy wrote a 300+ page book about the story.

It looks like they decided to focus mainly on gameplay and visuals (Direct X9) with the game.

_tetsuo_ said:
Have you updated the OP with that? I copy/pasted it a few days ago and mine was still set to 0.01
Yeah, updated the config in the op this afternoon, fixed the shadow settings too.

Do note that I have the Hud disabled in that config, it's the last item on the list, get rid of it if you still want the hud although it really helps the game not to have all that visual clutter.

Kind of.
The MGS4 crawl scene was long, depressing, and pissed me off a few times (which means that it did its job). The Crysis 2 crawl scene was short, uneventful, and lacked impact (which can be said of the entire last level).

The MGS 4 crawl scene was dumb, because everything it built to accomplish was thrown away 5 minutes later with the lolnanomachine injection. Keep that stupid game away from my Crysis, thank you.

What do the shadow changes do? Or were they broken before?

I have to try the no HUD, I like the look but I need my HUD in multiplayer :(

Funnily enough, Crysis 2 pulled an MGS
with a nanomachine based appendage (nanosuit) rewriting a person's identity into taking on that of a previously dead character. Not to mention the fact that the nanosuit was the solution to everything.

I can't wait to see what the community does if they release the editor. Night levels galore!
I hope they do, I'm craving more single player already. Finished it on the difficulty before post-human, went back and played the more open sections in post-human until I got all the suit upgrades (which took a while, most of the levels I liked had human enemies) and now I want more more more. If they had the tools out I'm sure we'd have already seen some fun invasion/wave arena score attack modes that utilise the multiplayer maps and key campaign sections in good ways at the very least. Come on, Crytek!

Critiquing the narrative impact of a video game is like arguing about the acting in a porno.
